The drills look nothing like BJJ, and Systema (like Silat, Kali/Escrima/Arnis) IS a MMA. There are only so many ways joints and the human body can move, so you'll always find similarities between styles, whether stand-up or ground fighting, kicking or punching.
What doesn't show in the videos is the tension work which is going on beneath the skin, and related through conceptual "drills", breath work, posture, etc. Systema mainly trains in attributes & principles, not techiniques.
great in the ring, not so good on the street, especially when your trying to get your 'hooks' in, and his mate is stamping on your head, BJJ aint so great then!
Only an idiot would do something like that in a street fight, in a street fight its all about using mobile positions that dont require full body commitment so that you can disengage at any time you are going to be attacked by someone else.
Why the fuck does everyone always assume that your going to get attacked by like 5 guys at a time? if that is the case then that would pose just as much a problem to any martial artist.
Most of you who say this kind of shit have never done bjj.
OMG even if your a bjj/submission guy you are not going to go to the floor in a group situation, and anyone that thinks a good bjj practicioner would do that, is an absolute cock.
Problem is that in a street situation/confrontation you may not have a choice in going to the ground......trips, stumbles, throws, drags - it's the unplanned events that you should train for. Systema drilling seeks to open our minds and bodies to help defend against these possibilities.......
@abuqais then I assume you have never tried or heard of catch wrestling. Alot of juijitsu men and judo have learned a few thing about ground combat from catch wrestlers. Some times refered to as hooking.
why do these guys fall off a full mount as if they were crazy???

it actually looked pretty good until the abomination of a mount escape at 2:01, that escape would not throw off my old granny!

What you cant see in that mount escape is the work against his ankle
perten 3 years ago
exactly, he isnt locking in the foot or the arm and basicaly expecting the guy to fly off

Systema is a brilliant art but when it comes to ground fighting Brazilian Ju Jitsu is definitely the best.

Brazilian jiu jutsu is really effective on ground 1v1, but if the attacker has a mate, your dead if u try to use it

It's not an assumption it''s experience. And if you think you can disengage at any time from the ground in a group situatin then you are naive

These are drills, dude - not 'things to do in a street fight'. Like a musician plays scales.
