I remember that there was a skit in this show, where Carol could not remember some of the lyrics to the song. Harvey delivered the correct line and Carol said, "Oh, you know the song better than I", so that is why Mama said that Eunice had splinters in the windmills of her mind. lol.
And don't forget, Vicki Lawrence began to ad-lib all those lines. They kept the cameras rolling and aired most of it, except for the "time of the month." That was still too early for references for stuff like that, even though it had been done on other shows already, like All In the Family. Look for the blooper (which aired) where Carol was doing a singing scene from a skit based upon an Andy/Judy movie when a horse had to to what a horse had to do. They aired that one in its totality.
If any of you visiting this site, enjoy it while you can, one day they will make us pay for u tube!
We all miss Carol and Company, the great comedians of our time have all died out. Now its all BS and more and more curse words, there is nothing on tv that interests me and perhaps none of you. This was one of the best shows in the 70's, and next to I LOVE LUCY, and the Jackie Gleason show with Art Carney. All gone but Carol, but never forgotten
This is BRILLIANT! They just don't write shows like this anymore, and it's sad. This is true talent at work. One rarely ever hears an audience scream with laughter like this!
I don't know if I saw them in first run or in reruns as a child (child of the 70s), but even as a small child, I knew great comedy when I saw it. I'm not sure where exactly I heard this, but wasn't it true that out of all the cast members, Vicki Lawrence was the one that rarely cracked up laughing- at least compared to the others. (If I had to guess, I'd say Harvey Corman was the one who did it most often.)
The line is funny enough, but Vicki Lawrance(Mama) has such a hit of a smile on her face when she is saying it...it is just so funny and you can't help but laugh!!!
This is still just about the funniest show ever put on television! Listen to that audience SCREAM with laughter!!! Right now, I'm laughing so hard that I'm crying! I remember when I was 8 and Carol did that Scarlett O'Hara bit with the curtain rod dress...I was laughing so hard I went into convulsions on the floor and my parents thought they were going to have to revive me, all the while laughing so hard they were crying as well!!
Vickie Laurence was terrific!

I loved the one where Eunice was a contestant on The Gong Show and got gang gonged while singing Morris Albert's FEELINGS badly!

It's amazing watching a show where laugh tracks are not mandatory. You can't have live shows these days because nobody would be laughing.

These shows are priceless! the humor was totally funny and contagiously witty.Sadly
comedy shows of today are just plain dull and uncreative. This generation seems empty
and spiritless as writers.Like rap music which in my view reflects our dying society.

What does Carol say at around 1:10? Is she saying sorry to the audience?
