I started reading that book called "War is..." by Aronson and Campbell and it really does explain what I already knew about in real life. "There is strength in numbers." One can make a difference but more of us can support each other and overpower those who abuse power by taking the initiative and coming together!
I just began a book called 'War Is...' edited by Marc Aronson and Patty Campbell, which is where I read about this video. I really recommend this book- it'll really open your eyes. Did you know that the Enlistment/Reenlistment Document- Armed Forces of the United States say that once you sign the contract you are subjected to any rule change proposed by the Congress (, as was the case with Emiliano Santiago)? I mean seriously, it's like you belong to them.
there's a political punk band called anti-flag that speak out against this. they formed an organization called Military Free Zone, and there's a website of the same name which has a short documentary about this provision. you can also download an opt-out form that withholds your info from recruiters. this site has lots of info about your rights and military practices...check it out, you won't regret it.
Great job you two, take this as far as you can. Besides being a disastrous education policy, NCLB is chock full of devious little legalize such as the provision you are looking into. Explore, expose, educate.
Thank you for bringing this to light. It's hardly an ethical approach to recruiting. In fact, even for unemployed people to receive job training assistance from the U.S. Department of Labor, they have to register for the Selective Service.

Being stalked by our Federal Government is by no means "volunteering" consideration to willingly enlish in our great volunteer force. Get your head out of the sand ssgduhbois. Keep up the great investigative work ladies!
This is such crap. People should not get mad at the fact that we are an all volunteer force. We can stop recruiting if you would like. Then we can just draft the people. That would make recruiting a whole lot easier.
We are an all volunteer force? Tell that to the people affected by 'stop-loss', tell that to the soldiers who signed up because there was no other way to get an education, tell that to the reservists who shouldn't be over in Iraq but are doing multiple tours. And now the Army is considering longer combat tours...again. And personally, I'm for the draft. It's seems to the only option left to get apathetic people off their asses to do something about this illegal war of aggression in Iraq.
