@AtanasovPetar The first historical use of the term death metal was actually for a metal compilation called death metal. It had Helloween(Power Metal), Running WIld(Power Metal with balls), and Hellhammer. ...Hellhammer actually had elements of death metal though.
cant even hear it,ur easily led children, can,t beleave how dumb u people are. no talent , nothing there. this genre will die and never raise itz ugly head again along wth all who like it.
@orionconflict2007 death metal will never die, we are the only loyal fans to our music, with that said, chuck has more talent in his pinky then anyone you know, my advice to you is STOP TROLLING!
@speednecromancer666 it practically is. Two members of Repulsion were asked, by Chuck Schuldiner, to join Death in 1985. I think it's the brother of the vocalist (Kurt Brecht) for D.R.I., who plays drums on the album. From what I understand, he could only play two speeds: punk ( 0:46) and blast (1:09). Death, unintentionally invented grindcore! LOL!
@speednecromancer666 they didn't technically play in Death (god! that would have ruled!), because they disagreed artistically. But they were "in" death for small while, I think a few weeks. There's SUPPOSEDLY some tape of them rehearsing, but I never got a copy. I know that SLAUGHTER (now STRAPPADO) rehearsed with them, and there's a tape of that, floating around somewhere.....
@speednecromancer666 I went to a blog and just found it. Google "Fuck of Death" and type in "Megaupload" or "Rapidshare" or "Mediafire" and it should be on there.
@MacoutesGabber this lineup is Chuck, Eric Brecht (drummer on the first D.R.I. album and kurts brother) and me (Erik Meade). all of these recordings were recorded on a boombox by chuck or at a couple of shows we did at Ruthies Inn in berkley. I actually gave away my original copies and had to get them from Scott Carlson of Repulsion because chuck always sent him tapes of the rehearsals. after we split from chuck Erik joined Hirax and I started playing with a side project of the Dwarves.
@epicmeade I really appreciate you responding, and more importantly making this incredible tape.I don't think there was an official tape label or flyer promoting it. I wish someone would officially document this whole recording experience for the record. It created a whole genre. Thanks again for clearing things up!
@evelsteev thanks . it's nice to know that at least one musical project I took part in ended up having some historical significance. I remember that chuck would tape every rehearsal and then go home and make about 20 copies and mail them to people in different cities around the world with the idea that they would make copies for their friends. I guess it worked better then he could have ever imagined . I cant believe it's been 25 years. it seems like yesterday. Man, I must be old (lol).
@epicmeade Your words are so true. (I'm also macoutesgabber, by the way :)
Who would have thought that a musical "mishap," in the most positive sense of the word, would lead to a whole musical genre! Death not only invented death metal (as Mantas) but also invented grindcore.Yeah, I used to trade tapes with kids back in the day (1985-1987), and "Back from the Dead" used to astound us, even though it wasn't an "official" Death demo, in the way we were accustomed to.
no you fucking idiot. i hate when people say a song is ruined because someone covered it. they are showing their appreciation of death. imitation is flattery. and if it dont sound as good as the original, the original just sounds that much better.
Nah... At the time you asked, the links weren't there.
Most of the material in the rehearsals link are at the point of being unlistenable because the quality is so bad. But, Rigor Mortis, a song not present in any actual demo, is there.
oh wait my bad, I heard the part at the beginning for the first time and I thought that was the whole song. all the other versions get right to the song. I don't know how I missed that
Sounds a bit like Impetigo.

@eskimobbx It's the theme tune for Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Not sure if it has its own name.
