yea i agree, but if you watch the first half of this fight they are on the ground a lot with not much action. i would bet the ref was instructed during the break to keep the fight off the ground as much as possible because the people in the crowd want a fun fight. thats just my opinion though. also, fights in japan tend to be score hard against people taking it to the ground who cant do damage when they get there

you can fight without them in the ZST circuit, if you decide not to use gloves then you can only use open palm strikes. imanari probably likes to go barehanded because he has better grip that way and its easier to hold on while grappling.
