Oh, and I love how Pegorino has magical plot armour that makes him an invincible god until the game decides its forced enough setpieces down your throat. When Niko stopped for a long chat and a cutscene while Pegorino was just standing on the stairs fully exposed and ready to be shot I wanted to scream.

i change from space to left mouse click in custom mapping so that i can get into chopper.. but guest what? i failed driving it then fall into the sea.. have to repeat the whole thing again urgh
definitely THE WORST mission i've ever come across! not only is the heli part impossible on pc, the game also crashed several times for me during the shootouts, you gotta repeat the whole car chase part/shootout part/motorcycle part/heli part once you die, the heli controls are also horrible and the rockets get you so easily that you die again and gotta repeat THE WHOLE MISSION! fuck you rockstar! not only is gta4 terribly optimized for pc but you also SUCK AT MISSION DESIGN! fuck you assholes!!

@123456789Cihan I like the Congnocenti when speed is not needed (its great straight line speed, but it GTA the roads are clogged or far two rounded) however the only four door car, and you need one for the mission, I found really worth a damn in the FIB Bufflo.

here is something, i believe i discovered: when you arrive at the casino you can avoid all the guys that are outside the building going to the right until the stair (the way where then you will follow pegorino), then you climb it, try to find a hole in the ruff. there you can shot the men that are inside from there, fall to the floor, pick up the medical kit and continue the mission...
My 1st attempt at this mission I actually got on the boat with Pegerino.... then it threw me off like.... a mile away and I failed. Not realistic rockstar, I could've slit his throat and then I wouldn't have to chase him in a helicopter or any other bull shit. Not cool.
This is what i did on this mission. When it says tap repeatedly, i turn on fraps which lowers my fps to about 30 then i tap the button, then i fly the plane over the right side of the land so when the rocket hits my plane i fall on the land instead of in the water! it works!!!
I don't like this misison, every time i try to get on the helicopter I press A as fast as I can but then the camera angle view change sback and forth, help?

I have attempted this mission probably 20 fucking times, and EVERY TIME I CANNOT MAKE IT ON THE HELICOPTER. It's the stupid glitch that is making nico not get into the chopper. I changed my jump button and everything. So now im desperately looking all over the internet for the final cutscene, which i probably wont find. Fuck you Rockstar.

Rockstar, if you're reading this, this mission wasn't challenging. It was downright F**CKED UP, all the unecessary shit they put you through in this mission is what makes people need to use cheats, and that's just sad :(
And for god's sake, just FUCK this mission. Jesus, what were they thinking?! It's ok to make a last mission hard, but it's NOT ok to do so by placing an irrationally hard jump at the end of it, with no checkpoints available.
They should be aware that the last mission is *also* the conclusion to the damn story. And after the tenth time you do it, you start hating all the characters in each cutscene. That's not nice. That's not how you conclude the game.
@yoobotthefunky Completing the story is only 60% of the game progress. The other 40% are earned hunting pidgeons, delivering Stevie's cars, doing assassin missions, among other things.
I empathize with all of you having a hard time with this mission. The first time, I sauntered down the stairs and ... he got away. Next, I jumped toward the bike, but landed in the water. He got away. The third time, I couldn't climb aboard the heli. He got away. I had a genuine "John McEnroe" temper tantrum and decided to try again another day.
Surely You Must Realize That This Mission - Being The Last One - Has Got To Be The Hardest, Most Frustrating Of Them All. It's The Final Mission ffs Just Keep Trying!

@dressedgull You had the option to choose Deal or Revenge with Dimitri and you must've picked Deal. In Deal, Roman dies; in Revenge, Kate dies.
As for this mission, it was definitely one of the hardest ones in the game. It took me about three or five times to finally beat it. I sank both my bike and helicopter and let Dimitri escape my first few times. Once the entire objective became clear, it wasn't too bad.

GTA failed on this mission. Besdies the horrible ending, it took me a good 8-9 tries to make that damn jump off the jetty. If they had added just one checkpoint (when you climb on the bike) it would have been bearable. As it was, it destroyed my love of the game. I was expecting another Three Leaf Clover...

First time tried a GTA game. finished all missions at first try, except one of ray's missions. This is the best mission in the game, after three leaf clover and museum piece.

Dont know if its the same on PS3 as on PC.. But the jump with the bike is just driving to the ramp and the yellow marker.
The PC problem is climbing that damn helicopter. Nomatter how much you mash the button to jump camera will just chance view but I keep failing. Same problem with the truck mission.
I should've taken the money this missions pisses me the fuck off, took me a while to drive that shitty ass car. I killed everyone with no problems fucked up the bike part a few times finally got it. Really? I though the jump was the easiest thing about the mission. But trying to shoot Pegorino with the helicopter while he's shooting bazookas at you is a pain! I still haven't passed it after about 10 tries.
If your having problems with this mission it is a good idea to turn to sleep mode and then safe in Alderney. When you reaching the jetty also make full speed. That could do the trick.
Omg, I HATE this mission. I just failed it for the 3rd time because I can't make the jump off the jetty. And then I have to spend another 10-15 minutes getting armor and weapons and then killing people all over again! At least I have an idea of how I'm supposed to do it now.

Fail 1: Lost Pegorino
Fail 2: Killed by guys blocking road
Fail 3: Blew myself up with RPG
And I jumped out of the car stupidly, so decided to restart, I'm gonna try again tomorrow instead, it may be a little easier when I'm not so worked up, I'll get it though :D my least favourite mission was blowing up Ray Boccino because of the damn RPG XD

two major problems ending this game on pc: my first was the DEAL ending chasing dmitri in the boat->heli, i can get on the heli fine but then the camera changes to a weird angle and the controls don't react properly and mission is lost.
on the revenge mission, the times i made it to the jump there was no heli and i jumped into the water, and the dirtbike is impossible to control other times
i just use brute force to get my in the door. RPG all the way. the bastards want ot play hardball. FINE! igeve then hardball. right now my hands are shaking from the hatred i feel towards them. tell me how to get past the road block. and kill hte man who murdered the woman i love.

@Ruzlier I agree, spent over 3 hours on this crap, failing because of fucking idiotic shit like the bike clipping a barrell just before the jump, meaning i have no time or speed to hit the ramp and get the helicopter. I will do this eventually but as you said my opinion of this game has fallen greatly because of this. I cant be bothered to repeat the whole 10 min thing yet again, BOOOORRRRIIIIIINNNNG ROCKSTARRR!!!!!!!!

And for god's sake, just FUCK this mission. Jesus, what were they thinking?! It's ok to make a last mission hard, but it's NOT ok to do so by placing an irrationally hard jump at the end of it, with no checkpoints available.
They should be aware that the last mission is *also* the conclusion to the damn story. And after the tenth time you do it, you start hating all the characters in each cutscene. That's not nice. That's not how you conclude the game.

I empathize with all of you having a hard time with this mission. The first time, I sauntered down the stairs and ... he got away. Next, I jumped toward the bike, but landed in the water. He got away. The third time, I couldn't climb aboard the heli. He got away. I had a genuine "John McEnroe" temper tantrum and decided to try again another day.

I was playing through GTA4 again on my other account and the other ending is so much easier. This shit here kept making me so fucking angry. And like the other dude said games should be like Half Life and Oblivion where you can save where ever. This checkpoint shit is fucking garbage.

@dressedgull You had the option to choose Deal or Revenge with Dimitri and you must've picked Deal. In Deal, Roman dies; in Revenge, Kate dies.
As for this mission, it was definitely one of the hardest ones in the game. It took me about three or five times to finally beat it. I sank both my bike and helicopter and let Dimitri escape my first few times. Once the entire objective became clear, it wasn't too bad.

GTA failed on this mission. Besdies the horrible ending, it took me a good 8-9 tries to make that damn jump off the jetty. If they had added just one checkpoint (when you climb on the bike) it would have been bearable. As it was, it destroyed my love of the game. I was expecting another Three Leaf Clover...

Dont know if its the same on PS3 as on PC.. But the jump with the bike is just driving to the ramp and the yellow marker.
The PC problem is climbing that damn helicopter. Nomatter how much you mash the button to jump camera will just chance view but I keep failing. Same problem with the truck mission.

If your having problems with this mission it is a good idea to turn to sleep mode and then safe in Alderney. When you reaching the jetty also make full speed. That could do the trick.

Omg, I HATE this mission. I just failed it for the 3rd time because I can't make the jump off the jetty. And then I have to spend another 10-15 minutes getting armor and weapons and then killing people all over again! At least I have an idea of how I'm supposed to do it now.

This mission fucking sucked, I mean having to do it all again from the beginning!? Are they retarded!? If there would have been checkpoints so I wouldn't have had to spend the rest of my life doing the same shit over and over again because I died when it tells me in the last minute to jump off a jetty and get killed by some guys blockign the road instead!
Thats the thing that drives me crazy about GTA4, the worst part is that if you replay it you dont start with the stuff you had the first time

Fail 1: Lost Pegorino
Fail 2: Killed by guys blocking road
Fail 3: Blew myself up with RPG
And I jumped out of the car stupidly, so decided to restart, I'm gonna try again tomorrow instead, it may be a little easier when I'm not so worked up, I'll get it though :D my least favourite mission was blowing up Ray Boccino because of the damn RPG XD

two major problems ending this game on pc: my first was the DEAL ending chasing dmitri in the boat->heli, i can get on the heli fine but then the camera changes to a weird angle and the controls don't react properly and mission is lost.
on the revenge mission, the times i made it to the jump there was no heli and i jumped into the water, and the dirtbike is impossible to control other times
