Recently I saw a show at the Pennsylvania State University's Palmer Museum of Art. It's from the collection at NYU. Art from 50's to early 60's. The Lee Krasner looked like it could have been done last week. A knockout. Also a very fresh Yayoe Kusama. Happy New Year James. Best-
the jean tingluey was great in the 1st show(he was married to niki de saint phalle). the miller show is amazing...the little krasner at the end was gold! who was the lady who inspired pollock's technique? very nice painting. manzoni did can his own shit, his cotton ball paintings are great. three really nice shows mr. kalm........thanks for all your insight!
I had to push the video back just to take a second look at that 1960 Held. Wow! OMG, that Krasner blows my mind. Great video! Great way to end the year. Thanks James!
That small painting with a yellow background at 6:42, is that a Gorky on paper? The small picture by Krasner is one of the most beautiful works I've seen in a long time. Thanks James, it was a privilege.
Just called the gallery and they informed me that the yellow piece at 6:28 is by Byron Brown (a personal favorite, with a tragic back story, I kinda recognized it, but wanted to make sure ). It's a watercolor titled "Atomic Dance" from 1954. The wonderful Krasner is priced at $1.3m. They're extending the show, so hope to go back,
Thanks. I was not familiar with Byron Brown's work. The Krasner must be part of the series that she called "Little Images" that she painted in the late 40's (I think they had a show of those at the Pollock-Krasner House last summer). I wish I could hang it in my living room...
The bulk of the Lauffs collection (Klein, Manzoni, Pistoletti, Fontana and many more)was sold last year at Sotheby's, the rest being bought by Zwirner, after being lent for years to a museum in Germany. It was the best such collection in the world and now it is scattered and for the most part no longer visible...Cruel world...

MrWow,
Janet Sobel. Greenberg says he and Jackson saw her work together and Pollock was very taken with it. I think Gary Schnyder has shown it
