  • I very like 5:46 3 seconds of melody

  • This subverts tonality. I doubt Mozart, Beethoven or Bach, and whoever has been mentioned, would have anything to do with this, unless you consider the fact that harmonic standards established by classical music can by defied, as such in this song. Structurally, I guess it's as progressive as some classical, and perhaps written with the same intricacy, but that's besides the point... It's somewhat like saying Leanardo Da Vincey would admire Dadaism.

  • @whatthemeh history showed repeatedly that standards are there to be defied..and (personaly always) i think that the composers you mention would admire this atonality

  • @1lfo Perhaps. It is hard however to put words in the mouths of long dead people, so really my own point is in no way very valid.

  • My mark + opinion = furiously masterbate

  • WTF is wrong with you people!?!?!?!

  • @TonyMont85 lolololol whut? :') \m/

  • @HerrGuderian way to sound ignorant.

  • Pure Khaos

  • Sonic Youth prepared me well for this.

  • @HerrGuderian Well it seems to me like you do not know anything about music...

  • I have this release on CD, very technical, little bit difficult to learn to appreciate it, but it fucking rules.

And for the ones asking why I check it at youtube, my CD is somewhere else...

  • I love the br00tal breakdowns at the end :)

  • @HxCTube Brutal, not "br00tal".

  • @HxCTube You just used the word br00tal not only on a metal video, but also a Deathspell Omega video. How's high school treating you?

  • @TheSoggyScrotum oh, leave him be.

  • If Mozart was alive now, he would listen to black metal.

  • @JustOffer I don't know about Mozart, and I don't think he would listen to Black Metal (he's too classic, maybe Beethoven would) but indeed the geniuses of Deathspell Omega compose, dark, unique and purely artistic music.

  • 0:34

One of my all time favourite riffs, if you could call it that.

  • Does anyone know what tone system this might be?

  • this band deserves better audio than this

  • @scumstache

I'm pretty sure JC has a healthy sense of competition.

  • how come this sounds like badly tracked sid-track? I can almost imagine how this would sound with lo-fi samples. :P

  • @apxeli what are you on about faggot?

  • huh?

  • this music was made against stupid followers and brainless slaves. its not elite stuff. its hate stuff. deathspell o. , and watain and teitanblood are the best bm bands of today.herr bons geh mit deim primanerlatein aufm absurdkonzert prohlen , du bauer. wir ächten trve bm freaks hassen solche klugscheisser wie dich. wette du bist rechts.verpiss dich aus unserer szene.

  • herr bons . tui hydrocephalus est ,

  • Deathspell Omega unici sunt et musica praeclara facent.

  • I rather like this artist. they're so.. intense!

  • It certainly takes a getting used to. I am a metal newbie so to say, though I occasionally picked some things up when I was younger. I like chaos of this piece, especially towards the end where it becomes one big blur of chaotic noise.

I always try my best to listen something out and see its value, and I think I might like some of these pieces. Hell, I've learned to like 'metal machine music' from Lou reed. This should work out for me as well ;)

  • @Girlysprite Exactly how I am.

  • it's just Black Metal, period.

  • @spacem00se It really isn't, dumb shit.

  • There is something truly special about Fas. It takes alot of work and listening to get what the album is trying to give, but once you begin to comprehend it, it's amazing. One of the rare cases where a lesser sound quality actually helps out. This album rises above the sea of mediocrity and garbage that is the "underground, cvlt" black metal scene. Great ideas, great talent, great execution, and genuinely dark message. Only other band that comes close in this regard is Xasthur.

  • True, but leviathan aswell.

  • it takes a special type of band to make somthing as amazing as this.I agree with you entirely.

  • "One of the rare cases where a lesser sound quality actually helps out"...your spot on right there! To many of my friends who arent black metal fans like to take digs at the "shitty production" and refuse to see that a truly great band can use a less polished sound to their advantage and create an atmosphere within the music that you'll never find in any over produced garbage.

  • havent appreciated fas before but sometimes the brain just needs to rot a while to be delicious.

  • you just made my day xD "i have a reallly great big knowledge in metal, but I don't know this genre and it totally sucks cause it's not in flames" lol

  • Dude, you're retarded. I doubt you know shit about metal if you don't even know that Deathspell Omega is progressive black metal. And it may sound terrible to the untrained ear but to those who understand the atmosphere of the music it sounds wonderful.

  • @BrimstoneLandscapes and it is progressive black metal cuz i always thought it was like blackened death metal or something like that

  • @StickManga this is avant garde black metal.

  • @thepanterakitty o ok thx man

  • Haha down rated for saying the bass guitar in a song was entertaining. Now I've seen it all.

  • The bass in this song is quite good. Especially from 2:00 to 2:40 or so.

  • and 2010 came and you're a total fail

  • This song is Absolute Catharsis..

  • This album is really a grower. This song makes me really wonder if the drummer is really an human being... Seriously the part at 5:00 is INSANE !

  • my big dick up your mum's ass

  • idolator.

  • Best CD of all time!

  • Fuck you Damn Jehoba martyr fucker or whatever you are

  • again Deathspell Omega ((baptized))

the whole metal scene i even have some feelings that the next behemoth album will sound black metal! not death metal (anymore)

  • guys check out exiled archangels from rotting christ, that some kickass greek black metal, rotting christ, although not so well known like mayhem, were one of the starting bands of the second wave of bm after celtic frost, venom etc

  • Jesus Christ they fucking rule

  • @78hiwatts Pretty ironic choice of words.. :)

  • Haha, nice one. judge a genre with thousands of band based off a single one.

  • *****

  • Deathspell fucking RULES!!!!!!

The Black Metal equivalent to PORTAL!

  • Check out Krystof Pendereckis "Threnody", thats black metal for you ;)

    Best, Sandemose

  • chingonsisimo!!! deathspell manda!!!

    (great!!! deathspell rules!!!

  • This band stands for what BM is all about. Being different, doing your own thing, simply being unique and extreme.

They are as good as late Emperor in my eyes.

  • The ironic thing is that neither 'Fas' or any Emperor album past 'Anthems' are black metal.

  • That depends on how you define bm. Many trve bm-bands aren't real black metal anymoreat least that's my opinion. This genre is about doing something different and still extreme, not trying to be the most grim and raw dark throne or burzum clone.

  • The genre can be expanded in many ways that don't break or transcend the overall aesthetic of black metal, but myself (and many others) feel that the aforementioned works do exactly that. I think bands like Emperor and newer DsO have their hearts in the right place, but it's too frivolous and pretentious for me. Subtlety is much better than blatant "genre hopping".

Don't mind me much though, I made the comment just to be a dickish devil's advocate :P

  • Best cause for writing a comment everreally^^

Talking about music is like dancing to architecture.

So, that's my last word :P

  • I couldnt agree more :)

  • @ludmac7 Amen, good sir. Been saying that for years.

  • @ludmac7 agree with him. I was never a fan of this band before this album, THIS is were they made their own sound. Not copying the gay Norwegian scene.

  • It's brilliant. It scares the living shit out of me.

  • i much prefer tracks 4 and 5, if u like this buy the album cuz it gets better

  • Incredible Black Metal. Possibly better than Emperor.

  • This is beyond "black metal".

  • could it be called post-black metal?

    or avantgarde black metal

  • by now what they do is so unique that i wouldn't really call it black metal anymore.

  • fuck what a hidden gem this band is

  • This is definately a higher form of musical art. Brilliant.

  • wow... calm after the storm...

  • No way. The vocalist is Mikko Aspa of Clandestine Blaze, Grunt, Creamface, Fleshpress etc. Hasjarl (formaly of Hirilorn) plays guitar and Khaos is the session bassist.

The drummer may be Yohann from the death metal band Mutilhate but considering that Hirilorn fell out with him a few years ago I'm not sure whether DSO would want him playing on their albums. Just a guess.

  • amazing

  • Deathspell Omega are dark yet contemplative, a time consuming band - no easy listening here. Quality.

  • deathspell omega opens the horizon a bit more...

  • This song is mindfuckingblowing. I listen to it every morning while walking to school, it makes you ponder.

  • yo mama likes to ponder!

  • By my point of view musical works of Deathspell Omega are a new way to percept music.. it's something of more, an elitaristic expression (musically, thematically and lirically spoking) far by the saturated scene of black metal.

I think that "Fas ite" (my preferite) is a masterpiece like "Nattens Madrigal"..

  • Yeah. Deathspell Omega differs way too-much from the traditional Black Metal. I wonder how many human beings will understand this musical revelation?

  • Few will understand Deathspell Omega's music, but only these few people deserves to enjoy their music.

  • cause Hasjarl is something more than a 'simple' human being :D

  • DsO shouldn't be on yt... it's no for mortals;)

    but in fact that's masterpiece

    best number on Fas

  • I have no words, to comment this MASTERPIECE!

    It's perfect.
