@bigchep1994 I was 5 when Reagan took over the reigns from Carter. I don't recall much about Carter myself nore have I really studied him much. But pretty much everyone I know that is old enough to recall Carter all say he was about the dumbest and one of the worst presidents this country ever had. Based on what I have seen and read I can believe them. This speech he gives here is a perfect example of why they draw that conclusion. People hate Obama for the same reasons they hated Carter.

@BradNC11175 ...public housing, unemployment benefits - their purpose is to protect normal citizens against the more powerful economic elements and give little people a more level playing field. Yes a dictator can abuse these powers for no good, but in the hands of justice they can yield many benefits for people that the private sector wouldn't be able to provide. It's what gave people like me a free education, safe roads to drive on, and rides to and from work everyday.

Business is all about risk and nobody takes a greater risk than the one who invests and starts a business. When a business thrives that investor deserves the rewards because the investor took the risk. When that business folds nobody suffers more than that investor. Unemployment does nothing for the one that took the risk and hurts struggling businesses. How is that a level playing field?

@BradNC11175 The roads belong to the tax payer, we all have our right to the road and there are rules we agree to abide by when we share the road amongst one another. Insurance is required in case one motorist causes harm or damage to another's property or body that they can not compensate for. How does that compare to health care? Are you suggesting that my body is not my own and I have to follow guidelines set forth by the government because I am incapable of making my own decisions on my own?

@TheElgalil I guess it depends on the definition of "smart." If you just go by IQ scores, Richard Nixon (155) was one of the smartest. I think we can safely say that he was a failure. Ronald Reagan (105) was one of the lowest, yet is generally agreed by non-partisan historians. to have been a good president. (JFK (174) was criticized by one of his contemporaries as "too smart to be president." lol So much of it is about personality, management style, and events out of their control.
