PC's suck! you always have to run a virus protector which slows down the computer on an already piece of crap computer. Mac always runs well, no viruses to worry about, no problems or error messages when downloading new programs and never looks like the cheap plastic that PCs are made of. Yeah, there's more PCs, because most people can't afford Mac's. There are more Kias out there than Bentley's, that doesn't make Kias a better car! lol

We own several of each, the Macs work better, are generally faster and we even can run windows on them. Eventually we will phase out most of the PC's we have except for maybe one for people that come over and haven't been fortunate enough to use a mac and they don't know how to use it. Seriously, I really don't care, they're computers. I have a Masters of Comp Science, so I would imagine that qualifies as an expert in computers. Yep it does.

I still support my claim based of course solely on my own experience in the sales and service of both systems. Mac users seem to think that their computers run on magical pixie dust, often enough, when I speak with them.

Also, what you get (to work into your statistics) is many people who've used Windows for say 5-10 years, then on the Mac because they are switching for only a year or less - which I see a lot of also. My experience is closer to 20000 non-mac users and 2000 Mac users, and paints a much clearer picture of their average collective technical knowledge over the last five years. I's not saying all Mac users know nothing, just that most know less about how and why their computer works, and mistakenly believe that Macs are immune to all computer problems. Which, of course, is absurd.

@Ikaaruz OS X has no restrictions. It is as open as Windows. And OS X does just work out of the box. I bought a MacBook Pro six months ago and it took only about 5 minutes for me to unbox it and set it up (I was actually kinda disappointed. I look forward to setting new tech up). And about the experts, have you ever been to a technology blog or convention. 90% of the people are using Macs. There is no data, but its pretty obvious. Go to a tech convention and you'll see.

@Gabbsmo I can appreciate, but I've yet to come across anything that I can consider remotely flawless on any platform. Maybe I'm just really good at finding faults; they exist plentifully in every OS. Although, problems often differ widely among operating platforms.
Although a mac pro or tower has many components that are interchangeable with the PC, the PRAM is different, as well as the Operating System. Mac's are well designed and use the best of components, and often use the latest and greatest, several months to years before it's adopted to the PC. Mac Pro Towers use Intel Xeon Cpu's and are really comparable to PC servers.

As far as parts to date if you consider the rate of change that occurs between the time you buy or build a computer its out of date within a year or less. In this case, yes a desktop personal computer would be ideal unless you're a laptop genius. Otherwise longterm cost of maintenance leaves mac on top.

PC's suck! you always have to run a virus protector which slows down the computer on an already piece of crap computer. Mac always runs well, no viruses to worry about, no problems or error messages when downloading new programs and never looks like the cheap plastic that PCs are made of. We own several of each, the Macs work better, are generally faster and we even can run windows on them. Eventually we will phase out most of the PC's we have except for maybe one for people that come over and haven't been fortunate enough to use a mac and they don't know how to use it. Seriously, I really don't care, they're computers. I have a Masters of Comp Science, so I would imagine that qualifies as an expert in computers. Yep it does.

I still support my claim based of course solely on my own experience in the sales and service of both systems. Mac users seem to think that their computers run on magical pixie dust, often enough, when I speak with them.

Also, what you get (to work into your statistics) is many people who've used Windows for say 5-10 years, then on the Mac because they are switching for only a year or less - which I see a lot of also. And also, yes, it does affect average when you encounter 20 Windows users and 2 Mac users.

My experience is closer to 20000 non-mac users and 2000 Mac users, and paints a much clearer picture of their average collective technical knowledge over the last five years. I's not saying all Mac users know nothing, just that most know less about how and why their computer works, and mistakenly believe that Macs are immune to all computer problems. Which, of course, is absurd.

@Ikaaruz OS X has no restrictions. It is as open as Windows. And OS X does just work out of the box. I bought a MacBook Pro six months ago and it took only about 5 minutes for me to unbox it and set it up (I was actually kinda disappointed. I look forward to setting new tech up). And about the experts, have you ever been to a technology blog or convention. 90% of the people are using Macs. There is no data, but its pretty obvious. Go to a tech convention and you'll see.

Although a mac pro or tower has many components that are interchangeable with the PC, the PRAM is different, as well as the Operating System. Mac's are well designed and use the best of components, and often use the latest and greatest, several months to years before it's adopted to the PC. Mac Pro Towers use Intel Xeon Cpu's and are really comparable to PC servers.

Also, the term Personal Computer was coined by IBM and so therefore PC is an incorrect term for any computer outside of that model line. As far as parts to date if you consider the rate of change that occurs between the time you buy or build a computer its out of date within a year or less. In this case, yes a desktop personal computer would be ideal unless you're a laptop genius. Otherwise longterm cost of maintenance leaves mac on top.
