Shrum is a political consultant who around the time of this video was working as a partner with Carville, Matalin's husband. In 1992 Carville was the brains behind a Clinton opperation that beat Shrum's Bob Kerry outfit in the primaries and went on to beat Matalin's Bush 1 campaign in the general (while Carville and Matalin were dating).
