  • Every country in the world other than Canada, Cuba, and perhaps the UK, allow private delivery of health services. That includes France, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany. Private delivery works better than the Canadian model and (except in France) is cheaper. There are ways to have the benefits of private enterprise while maintaining universal coverage, but god help us if we're ever able to talk like adults about it.

  • What you should compare is the amount of people dying in America because they can't afford it versus the amount of people dying under nationalised health systems

    because theyr'e are too few doctors to take care of their patients.

  • To non-americans such as myself, the healthcare debate should warn us against strong political dogma.

    There are many strong conservative ideas, but the US healthcare system is not one of them. It is one of the few examples of private enterprise being LESS efficient in outcomes and dollars, than a government run counterpart. This has been confirmed by studies by the WHO, Harvard Medical school, not just from leftist dominated areas like the UCLA liberal arts faculty.
