  • Technically the first "car" was made by Nicholas J. Cugnot in 1769. It was the first "Self propelled vehicle".

  • Is that cool or what? What brand of spark plug did it use?

  • ..itsa car when you can take someone out on a date on it better than a bicycle built for two, cool!.....but up to and nearly 60 mph?

  • is it still running?

  • Actually, there were steam-powered cars prior to this. I think this was the first internal-combustion car, but not the first car.

  • guess what country made the 1st engine ?

  • Comment removed

  • GranTurismo4 good memories

  • cool

  • It's not the first car. It's the first combustion powered car. The first car was steam powered, most cars where steam powered in 1800 century until combustion engine came and became popular around 1920s and steam powered cars went out of production

  • @SMGJohn

"Most cars were steam powered in the 1800 century". First of all it's written the 19'th century or the 1800's, we're currently in the 21'st century. Second of all when you say "most cars" you are trying to convince us cars were commonplace, when in fact there were less than a handful prototypes worldwide with different propulsion systems. The internal combustion engine was invented in the 1860's already and made the most sense alongside electricity in the 1890's.

  • @McLarenMercedes I'm talking about cars not fucking weapon of mass destruction you imbecile.

Steam cars outsold Internal Combustion engine powered cars in 1910s and early 1920s when the Ford Model T was just getting more and more popular because of it's simplicity and it was cheap

  • @SMGJohn

"The internal combustion engine became popular around 1920's. " Utter nonsense.

They used gasoline powered combustion engines in the early motorraces of the 1900-1914 period. The 1906 French GrandPrix was all petrol driven cars. The 1911 Indianapolis500 too.

Have you forgot WORLD WAR ONE (1914-1918)?? All cars, trucks, motorcycles, airplanes, tanks, submarines were powered by internal combustion engines.

The Ford Model T was introduced in 1908 and it cemented the utter dominance

  • "Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot is widely credited with building the first self-propelled mechanical vehicle or automobile in about 1769; he created a steam-powered tricycle"

  • i want a PIMPED version of this!!!

  • This is the first combustion engine mass produced car NO WHERE IN HELL THE FIRST PRODUCTION CAR. The first car existed some 40 years before it in Scotland and crazy enough it was ELECTRIC.

  • fast as blood!!!

  • Thats not a car, thats a chariot.

  • top speed 10mph lool

  • I don't think that is the original it is a replica.

  • @vulkein it is original its

  • @MrTedwise but only if its the one thats in the uk

  • lets see someone RICE that one up

  • someone should put chrome tailights, an unnecessary spoiler and a loudass muffler on it

  • Imagine this car in a crash test

  • Wow 82 comments!

  • do anyone knows this is the most safest car in the world?? because this top speed is 10mph

  • @gtasanandreas162

"Most safest" you say? I'm not a grammar nazi, but that just makes me want to facepalm.

  • @NuclearPopcorn ya this car's speed is slow= safe

  • To be fair, the vehicle in question is a reproduction, as no Benz Model 1's are known to exist today. The reproductions that were made follow the exact specifications of the first automobile, though.

  • if i had that i wood be late to cross the block lol

  • lol i here every word you say

    lol!

  • thumbs up if you would like that car have a drag race with a bugatti veyron16.4 world sport (top speed 431 km/h or 267 mph) on VW test track

  • world's first motorised car.

  • its benz auto wagon since its german

  • thats not a car thats a mototrike

  • it could do better in snow than today's cars

  • The world's first car was built in 1769 by Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot. This is still cool though.

  • Not the first car. Maybe the first gasoline powered car.

  • @M1GARRAND1 LOL when was gasoline invented??? I would say steam maybe?

  • @M1GARRAND1 Gasoline??? are you sure?? Try steam doughhead

  • @prplepopsicle before you start insulting people, learn your facts. this car was, in fact, powered by gasoline. not steam.

  • @prplepopsicle WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I MENTIONED THAT THIS CAR MAY HAVE BEEN THE FIRST GAS POWERED AUTO, BUT NOT THE FIRST AUTOMOBILE. TRY READING LEFT TO RIGHT YOU DISFUNCTIONAL MORON.

  • @M1GARRAND1 ----Auto or Automobile whats the difference?

You said that this car was the first powered auto, but not the first automobile?

Really? what is the difference between and Auto and an Automobile???

Etienne Lenoir in Paris in 1860 and drove a car from Paris to Joinville in 1862.

Lenoir had a separate mechanism to compress the gas before combustion.

In 1862, Alphonse Bear de Rochas figured out how to compress the gas in the same cylinder in which it was to burn

  • gutes video hey ho bin so einsam jemand Interesse zum chatten oder so

  • hmmmmm, looks like a peice of crap to me.

  • @coolsk8er08 This piece of crap is what started the evolution of cars

  • @coolsk8er08

Well if you were expecting cars in 1886 to look like today's cars....

    That ain't evolution.

  • I'm going to slam this thing, and put some VIP rims.

  • im going to buy that thing throw a few turbos on it and race it in the next Indy 500

  • i do belive i can run faster than this..i was clocked at 15mph at my track meet

  • @CHOPMOP10 Not very fast! Only 15 sec. for a 100 meters and 60 sec. for the quarter mile. Many junior high kids run this fast. (And guys in their late 70s!)

  • MAX SPEED .340 KM/H

  • ... an-nnd, this is where we now ride again-

as todays' bi-cycles, tri-cycles and quads go...

only- we travel much better given the advances

in todays' engines, batteries and motors...

  • mercedes is the best and the first always

  • that thing can kick some ass ...

but really small and tiny ass :P

  • my flashy Mercedes, officially pimped. sup dawg

  • @OreillyORLY LOL :D

  • Mercedes Benz did not make or invent the first car. Not even the first gasoline/petrol powered car: Siegfried Markus in Vienna did that!

MB were the first company to put a car into production. Cars can have 3 or more wheels.

  • @CaptBubble

that´s not true there was a wrong date in his patent

the " Reitwagen " of 1985 was the first with an Otto-engine running automobile and after that the " Benz Motorenwagen " of 1986

  • @NicoQQ89 Wrong patent date makes no difference: Siegfried Markus built 4 cars in Vienna during the 1860s and 70s, one can still be driven by its own power, but they were not put into production. Trevithick's steam vehicles were used on the roads from 1801, and there were many other steam cars and coaches. Cugnot's Fardier was in 1769. Steam cars were regularly used up to the 1930s and accepted as "cars"; a "car" is not defined by the type of engine.

  • @CaptBubble

you said Siegfried Markus invented the first gasoline powered car and that´s not true he did this after Benz, Daimler and Maybach it is a very famous misinformation because of the wrong date just read it up

that there were other means of transportation before the modern car does not make you right

  • @NicoQQ89 I HAVE read up Markus was ahead, but It's irrelevant anyway, either Leonardo da Vinci's clockwork car, or Nicholas Cugnot's steam one represent the first cars, and many other people had working vehicles before MB, MB were first to go into production. That's good enough!

  • @CaptBubble wasnt the ford that went in to production first?

  • @nawzy202 No, Ford was about 10 years later. In UK there was legislation covering self-propelled vehicles (coaches, cars and wagons) for about 30 years BEFORE the Benz. Siegfried Marcus was credited with making the first 3 gasoline/petrol powered cars, but during the Nazi take-over of Germany his name was removed from all records and replaced by Benz. Benz was the first to make cars for sale, they should be happy with that.

  • @nawzy202

Nope, only mass production though the assembly line principle.

By the time Ford started in 1903 there were several dozens of manafacturers of cars in the world.

Ford wasn't even the first American car manafacturer.

Oh, and GOOGLE is your friend, so therefore you don't need to ask others, or assuming something out of thin air or word of mouth.

  • is it a 2 or 4 stroke?

  • is wayyyy faster than bugatti veyron

  • OH MY GOD I CAN GET TO MEXICO IN UMM UMM WEEKS :D

  • @MetalGear180 still beats walking. :D

  • world's first tricycle.......

  • hmschnur bin so einsam und gelangweilt will sanft gekrault werden hab auch bilder

  • @ChantellYonan65 ich bin eine banane!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats not a car its a trysical

  • MAXIMUM SPEED

  • the very first self-powered road vehicles were powered by steam engines and by that definition Nicolas Joseph Cugnot in 1769 ...the 1886 benz i believe it was the first gas powerd car but not the first car ever...steam cars were in the 17 hundreds

  • this is a car that monte burns would drive. "Petroleum Distillate"

  • engine power equal to a clock that runs on a AA baterry.

  • 1 cylinder is the way to go jk

  • thats a car? more like a cariage.

  • @vidman429 It's in Gran Turismo believe it or not.

  • Gran Turismo the game?

  • top speed 10 mph O_O

  • @ChevysphinX haha, maybe, if yoru lucky, lol! really neat eh?

  • @ChevysphinX pretty fast for the worlds first car i was think like 5

  • 0-100 2.8 seg. Cx. 0.01

  • MAX SPEED 340KM/H

  • @Alishahidabdulaziz wtf you are talking about.... max speedis 10mph (16,1km/h)

  • @MATUXAZ It was obviously sarcasm.

  • @Alishahidabdulaziz MAX SPEED 340KM/D

  • The Cugnot hardly qualifies as a car.

  • but it was

  • The cugnot was a STEAM powerd car the velo was gasoline powerd so probably what they mean't was the velo was the first Gasoline powerd vehicle although thats probably not right either

  • I thought the Cugnot was invented as an atilliery carriage...not a car in the modern sense as it didn't carry people. It was steam powered and I don't think it worked very well so he shelved the idea...maybe wrong though

  • Wow, how did he get that? anyway if it isn't internal combustion what is it?

  • It says first car. The video is what the title says.

  • We are at a time in history 100 years down the track where the excitement of Karl Benz, Henry Ford and his Motor Car, Alexander Graham Bell, Guglielmo Marconi, Thomas Edison and his wonderful inventions & others that paved the development of the 20th Century has been reinstalled into the hearts and minds of those engaged in the development of technology passing into the 21st Century.

  • lol focus real hard you can see the top speed is 10 mph

  • it only has 7 horsepower

  • no! 0.7 hp :-)

  • i was there on 12-29-07! ...just visiting las vegas.

  • good 4 you
