  • That man can sing. Holy fuck! Definitely one of the best songs ever.

  • wonderful

  • Only the Foo Fighters would truly know what is being said in the instrumental break. Hopefully I can meet them one day and ask them! Hopefully a lot of you people will be able to too.

  • Thanks man!! I have difficult time trying to sing while I play guitar so this is fun to play along with! Its like having Dave sing while I play! :D

  • thanks man. do you reckon that you could hook my up with the original file?

  • Incredibly powerful voice ...

  • This is awesome

  • i like how the giutar is still there! xD!!!

  • hey is there like any effects on dave?

  • @guitarlordification small amount of reverb and/or delay, it's been EQ'd aswell, there's also some bleed from the rest of the band because foo fighters record live like the good ol' days before digital

  • @ZyggieFromJiU

Sounds like some compression as well. It could be the eq though.

  • @furcifur3 he's using a close mic technique in the verse aswell, wow, it's amazing when you start analysing properly isn't it :P

  • @ZyggieFromJiU Yeah, some really cool engineering work, I must say.

  • i love this so so much.

  • Its a great song, with a great vocal performance, but the recording is poorly engineered. It sounds cold and sterile, but I still love the song.

  • @ReggieSears What the fuck are you on you fucking cloof. You clearly have no understanding of record production.

  • @serafinastudios While I'm not crazy about how you responded to me, I actually want to thank you for responding. We all do have our opinions, but now that I listen to the vocals again, I must admit I was a bit wrong about the vocal track sounding "cold and sterile". I guess I am just a little old-fashioned when it comes to vocal sound. I am tube all the way. The production values on the song is top-notch. Just a little too compressed for my taste. Hopefully there are no hard feelings, my brotha.

  • @ReggieSears I must admit I had a kneejerk reaction here and flipped the switch, I do apologise and thank you for you're cool response.

  • WTH on the talking in the middle of the vocal track? does anybody else hear that? it sounds like dave talking about his dad making him cry.....it's like a conversation that's being recorded or something?

  • @jtucker813 So Dad would take the Sunday's off, and that's the only time he could ever get any rest, and so, because we were loud on Sundays, He'd make us hold his construction boots over our head, till we'd sleep, and they were really heavy boots, and I just say dad come on please, like .. and we'd just start crying, 'cause it's too heavy ..

That's what I got from it, I don't know if it's all right

  • @Hindoushett yeah thanks, i pretty much understood everything that was said, i was just wondering was that dave talking (figured it had to be) and if so......why is this on the vocal track for everyone to hear and who is he talking to? how very sad for dave if this is a true story :(

  • @jtucker813 yea, it's definitely dave's voice, but after what Wikipedia's sayin : 'During the instrumental break, three indecipherable tracks whispered by Grohl can be heard. The exact wordings are unknown, but according to the official Foo Fighters newsgroup FAQ, the source materials are a love letter, a technical manual, and a story about a studio technician's father.'

So i guess its not about his father

  • @Hindoushett okay thanks for your research. much appreciated. i wondered why he would just let something about himself get out like that, lol.

  • @jtucker813 its 3 letters read backwards, a letter to his dad, a letter from a record producer and if remember properly the third is a marriage proposal

  • @milnthorpe31584 from wikipedia: During the instrumental break, three indecipherable tracks whispered by Grohl can be heard. The exact wordings are unknown, but according to the official Foo Fighters newsgroup FAQ, the source materials are a love letter, a technical manual, and a story about a studio technician's father.

  • @jtucker813 Wikipedia:

"During the instrumental break, three indecipherable tracks whispered by Grohl can be heard. The exact wordings are unknown, but according to the official Foo Fighters newsgroup FAQ, the source materials are a love letter, a technical manual, and a story about a studio technician's father."

  • @jtucker813 According to wikipedia, it's parts form a love letter

  • @jtucker813 Apparently he was reading an instruction manual. That's what I've heard.

  • You can hear the bleed-through from his headphones!

  • @guitarman87 its just filtered so you dont hear the music as loud :)

  • what effects does he have on his voice for this ?

  • @thebr3ttest

sounds like his voice is being doubled and also there's some reverb on it too.

  • @thebr3ttest Chorus and reverb. :)

  • @YuzoMorisakiGk And also delay! xD

  • @YuzoMorisakiGk It's not chorus, it's a double track vocal

  • @thebr3ttest And a lot of compression! :)

  • @soares281194 I did. It was awesome, man!

  • @soares281194 i'm watching both at the same time, drums and vocals, wooo amazing!

  • OMG!! This is Awesome Dude! we fucking love The Foo Fighters!
