I don't want this to sound rude, because I love this (dunno if you remember my comment a couple years ago) but yeah what's with the music, like where did you get it and stuff it suits beautifully
@mlerg sorry for not getting back to you quickly. I got the music from the soundtrack of american beauty, I animated it first and then thought, "hey i should add music," and it didn't take long to drop something in there, and it seemed to suit it decently.
This needs to be longer...simply because you pulled me in and I wanted to see the rest...LOL...Seriously, GREAT Job...The fifth Elephant is my favorite of the City Watch books and this is the perfect tribute to it. I think this completely captures the feel of the book. It's darker then most discworld novels, but still has the Pratchett touch and this fits it perfectly. ROCK ON
it is a very good piece. although i haven't read the book i don't think geoffery rush would quite fit vimes but gary oldman would definately suit havelock. i would have thought geoffery rush as being reacher gilt from going postal. the silhouette technique wasn't quite my cup of tea but i think it suited the atmosphere of uberwald very nicely. i must admit that i was dissapointed to see an absence of werewolves, or vampires unless they were the bats. well done though 5/5
thanks, yeah, the bats were meant to symbolize the idea of vampires, haha, but i had planned on the running wolf actually being a man running and transforming into a wolf, thus representing the werewolves as well, I just was kind of in a time crunch, but i plan on finishing out the piece, because i, myself, am not entirely happy with it. thanks for the feedback!
Really good video, very well made - though which characters did you have in mind that geoffrey rush and gary oldman would play? I instantly thought that Rush would be the perfect Vimes, but when Oldman's name cropped up, I was less sure =].
well, honestly, i thought they would both make a great Vimes, so I put them both in :) i figured one could play vimes and the other could play vetinari, haha, but yeah, i think both could pull off Vimes very well :)
I liked it. It gave the real eary quality that is inherent in Pratchett's description of Ubberwald. I didn't like the very beginning, where the elephant leaves Great A'Tuin's back, I thought it didn't quite fit with the rest of the piece because it was a bit too oversimplified. But I have to say the bit with the credits was good, especially with the mineing dwarf, and it was a good choice of music, although it may not convey the pace or comedy of the book as it's too slow. Hope this is helpful.
thanks for the feedback, i entirely agree, i don't like the first bit either, it was thrown together haphazardly during the last stretch of the project before the due date and i plan on redoing it more inkeeping with the style of the rest of the piece. Thanks alot, it's greatly appreciated!
Please ignore Lowryder as he is, quite obviously, an idiot. I think this is very good. I must say it doesn't quite fit in the way I read the book (I think I'd go for something hinting at the old Hammer or Universal movies, but that might be too obvious) but I think this would be a great title sequence for a diferent interpretation of The Fifth Elephant than mine. I like the way it feels. It puts me in mind of Nightmare Before Christmas (maibe because of the bit with Igor). Congratulations!
thanks! yeah, if i were actually doing this for the actual movie, it wouldn't be in this style, but i wanted to do something with this aesthetic and my friend gave me the idea of using a fav book and i decided to throw the two together.
actually it says that there were once thought to be five elephants and that somehow it came off the back and came trumpeting down onto the disc. its not sure how it happened and it is a legend, not fact. and for another thing, it would've ruined the aesthetic of the piece to show it becoming violently dislodged from the back of the turtle. i was asking for feedback on the visuality of the piece, not on the validity of the LEGEND portrayed within.
are you going to make the whole book into a film? if so can't wait!

oh man, were you visualizing Geoffrey Rush or Gary Oldman as Vimes?
The music really makes it work perfectly.

and why, may i ask, it is crap? if you're going to criticize someone's work, you'd best leave actual criticism.

well 4 1 thing if uve ever read the book it tells you that the elephant dosent walk off it gets flung off
