they call him Scratch but he can't scratch without a deck and vocal distortion effects. I wouldn't call that mad skillz. I would call that using several thousand dollars worth of equipment to achieve your sound. I can point out a dozen beatboxers that scratch better than that without even a mic. THAT takes skill. This is cheating.

@p1n0yXer A more intelligent response this time. He does have a raspy voice yes but its seriously enhanced on his equipment. It really shows at 00:46. I guess when it comes to beatboxing I gauge skill purely on a raw performance. It's way too hard to rate the likes of Scratch, Beardyman,etc... If they are using at least some vocal effects then if gets hard to tell. Now take kats like Shlomo...mad skillz. He does perform with a loop station sometimes but has just as many raw performances.

@p1n0yXer I've seen a few beatbox videos but I'm an aspiring beatboxer myself and I hang with a lot of beatboxers and attend shows and conventions. No better way to improve your skill than to surround yourself with pros. Hell even the amateur beatboxer can show you a new trick or 2. But how in the hell can you ask Scratch for tips?? What would his response be? "Well first thing you do is head down to Audio World with about 3,000 bucks...." Gimme a break. Beatbox started as the poor mans radio.

I'm also an aspiring beatboxer, and I've listened/spoken to alot of high level beatboxers like ZeDe, krNfx, Dharni, Reepsone, etc. on various beatbox Ventrilo servers. But anyways to tell you the truth, I'm not even a fan of Scratch..I was only watching this video (again) to see how his scratching and beatbox skill would compare to these guys. Do alot of beatboxers get on there to share technique? I once talked with Rahzel over live chat once but it was so hard to hear and not being able to see his mouth made the whole thing worthless. I mean it was cool talking to a legend like Rahzel but when it comes down to it.....his skillz are outdated. He needs to drum up new material.
