  • Say no to Belo Monte Dam Dilma please. There is no more time! Switch Brazil to Renewable Energy! This is the new frontier to be conquered in order to move to a cleaner planet. Save the planet Dilma!

  • Not the 1st time the brazilian government does such a terrible thing! look what happened to the 7 falls of Guaira, one of the greatest waterfalls of the world that no longer exist because ITAIPU DAM was built in 1982.

By the way Sigourney Weaver sounds amazing because she truly speaks with her heart.

  • @rodito75 she speaks with her heart but not with any knowledge in her mind

  • @thomasgovier

possibly.. well she may not be an expert on this subject but i do actually believe she has some knowledge. I have been reading so much about it and just think its sad for the people of the Xingu. they believe their voices were not heard because the government took the decision to build the dam despite their opposition

  • Awesome!!!

  • God her voice is gorgeous. I could listen to it all day.

  • In 1973 the United States Government once more declared War on the Native Americans. There was a lot of corruption in government officials who had access to Indian Reservations. Adding insult to injury, one of the worst was at The Pine Ridge Reservation. One agent, a man who was supposed to be there for the betterment and protection of the Tribal Peoples, was responsible for at least 60 executions of the same Indians he was in office to protect

  • i will sign EVERY Petition for Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

  • It seems that Brazil still live in the age of colonialism when authorities, big corporations and other exploiters just thought they could invade and steal other peoples land without anyone protesting. But today we live in an age of mass communication. Now the world will know about invasions, destruction of environment and displacement of indigenous peoples.

These are matters of human rights and about trying to preserve the environment that not only concerns Brazil but the whole world.

  • @earthhumanist80 Sorry man but the Amazons is Brazilians business!

Don't you know that Shell exploit oil in the Amazons in Ecuador?

The Brazilian government is doing a great job limiting the selling of our country and protecting our border!

We 196 millions Brazilians love the Amazons..so the foreign people should concentrating in the forests in their countries (USA and Europe) if there is anything left after all destruction's!

  • @richardmilk what is there to know? that the corporate ambitions of a rising super power completely ignore the ecology and people of a place? it's happening all over the world. india, china, mexico, canada. the world is our home.

  • @valfredo8 Developed countries are only developed because they have been using and abusing the environment (either in their own countries or exploring their former colonies) for a long time. Sigourney Weaver is too late, I'm sorry. I believe she would be more useful to the world trying to convince her countrymen americans to burn less fossil fuels. I bet both she and James Cameron have 2 big 4X4, a Hummer preferably.

  • @richardmilk - you have no idea what you are talking about, at least in relation to Belo Monte

  • @richardmilk

Just because you disagree doesn't mean other people know nothing. Your notion that environmental issues don't cross borders indicates it might be you whi is ignorant.

  • richardmilk, with respect: learn Astronomy

  • @richardmilk Thanks for sharing your thoughts. There are a lot of great organizations working on issues related to dams and rivers in the U.S., but we specialize in drawing the larger connections that cross boundaries and borders. The whole world is our home -- so yes, we do concentrate on our problems at home

  • well, good luck on your jorney to convince the corrupt ignorant politicians mafia in Brazil to work the other way around.

For instance, Dilma Roussef, which is about to be elected as the new president, is an "ex-terrorrist" who said that "The Nature Environment is a Menace to the sustainable development" ... really sad reality.

  • Do you have it doubled to Spanish or Portuguese?

  • @aadelgado2003 we are working on a Portuguese translation, to be narrated by Dira Paes. It will be released on the week of September 6th on YouTube. Thanks for checking out the video!

  • @aadelgado2003 sure do! It is on International Rivers' website.

  • Yes. It's totally feasible for Brazil to become a huge theme park for Americans to admire and enjoy feeling guilty after buying iPods and Prada clothing with the billions of dollars made by animations like Avatar (how much carbon footprint does a Hollywood blockbuster leave?). But you'll have to feed the country's 190 million people first. Banana anyone?

  • Excellent flick!
