I can't believe that Tegan & Sara opted not to make this an official release...

I don't remember, in some interview one of them apparently didn't want to release it because of some issue of what kind of group people would think they were if this was a hit. I dunno.

The other one wanted to put it on a single or whatever.

It was made by Party Ben, and as I understand from him, one of them liked it, the other didn't. The reasons behind not releasing it as their own might be part of what you said, but one of the main reasons would be the challenge of getting rights for it from mylo...but you never know.
