Absolutely beautiful! You play with such soul. I loved your Thanksgiving as well. Taking requests perhaps? Can the Great pumpkin Waltz be far behind? Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Indeed, I am working on The Great Pumpkin Waltz, hopefully in time for Halloween. It's giving me a bit of trouble at the moment, though...
I've heard many versions of this piece - including my own - but this is firmly planted amongst my favorites. This is how I wish I could play Guaraldi's gorgeous work. I have 22-year-old feminine hands and I cannot, for my life, reach anything near tenths with my left hand in the beginning. I've been a musician since I was four, but started practicing piano March of this year. I love jazz and realizing I don't have the voice for it, I learned it on piano. Well executed! Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words. I feel fortunate to have hands large enough to play tenths, but you may notice that I still have to roll some of the chords. Of course I don't think that Guaraldi actually had to play tenths since the bass was doing the lowest notes. It's rather doubtful that he had the reach anyway since he was reportedly only 5'2" tall. There is ample evidence that he was able to play octaves fluently but the tenths he played in Skating, for instance, are definitely rolled.
Amazing!
