This game is a classic. Also underrated. Even though it didn't sell as well everyone including the developers knew the game was great, they still took a chance and came out with a part two. They made the gfx cartoony I think just to make it appeal to the masses.
Everything negative this guy said about the game I found the complete opposite. The gfx blew my top off, the gameplay was great, the story was great and the side missions were fun.
This game was so underrated. Its a great game and the gfx were really good for it's time. I actually think the gfx were a lot better in the 1st one than the second one. I remember putting lots of people on to this game and everybody came back saying they loved it. I think that's why the came out with a second one.
You definitely dont have to knock out every light. I never found it annoying because I simply let the darkness go away for a couple seconds. Nice of you to criticize the game, though, just because you played it wrong...

actually i've played this game and it seriously sucks for multiple, multiple reasons for one thing the gun fights are so hard it isnt even realistick! it takes 7 bullets to kill a single enemy and 3 to kill jackie. and being in darkness mode doesnt change a thing and the tentacle things only reach their targets once every 15 times even if theres no light around which also, doesnt chage a thing, i've tried shooting the lights and all it does is make the screen darker.
Not to be an ass and I know no one cares, BUT it's WWI, not WII. The Darkness is one of the most underrated games and deserves to be played by everyone!!! Can't wait for number 2!

Bioshock, Half life 2 and The darkness are all great shooters with really compelling stories and some creepy moments.
But if you want plain old horror I'd go with Condemned, F.E.A.R or Dead space. also if you play pc games you should check out amnesia: the dark decent, one of the most dsturbing and terrifying games I've ever played.

Demo sucked ass, but the actual game is my favorite on the 360. Great story and characters, plus it's only 10-20 dollars brand new these days. I would have bought it for 60 bucks.

@dunmer2000 Jackie gets his powers because his grandfather was in WW1 and he found a vault where the darkness was stored. and when Jackie's grandfather found it, the darkness hid in his grandfather and was passed down to Jackie. That's the most i know about it.
Your character definitely goes back to the first world war. Trust me. I dont mean to sound like a know-it-all but im a history major who has done a lot of research on WW1. For anyone who hasnt played this game, you start out in the present day where, yeah, you can use M16's and shit, but you unexpectedly travel to the trenches of world war one where you can only use one shot bolt action rifles and mauser pistols. It doesnt last too long though. Also, IGN reviewers are all pretentious assholes.

yah this game is better then butcher bay kinda same gameplay (although this is much harder) but the story is soooooo much better my only real complaint with this game is that i wished he would run faster

Demo sucked ass, but the actual game is my favorite on the 360. Great story and characters, plus it's only 10-20 dollars brand new these days. I would have bought it for 60 bucks.

7.7? wtf to be honest I truly think this game deserves a 9 at least. My only prob is that you have to go over the same places all over again (limited amount of locations and always kinda the same) but overall it delivers a great storyline why the hell did it get a 7.7 only?

@dunmer2000 Jackie gets his powers because his grandfather was in WW1 and he found a vault where the darkness was stored. and when Jackie's grandfather found it, the darkness hid in his grandfather and was passed down to Jackie. That's the most i know about it.

Your character definitely goes back to the first world war. Trust me. I dont mean to sound like a know-it-all but im a history major who has done a lot of research on WW1. For anyone who hasnt played this game, you start out in the present day where, yeah, you can use M16's and shit, but you unexpectedly travel to the trenches of world war one where you can only use one shot bolt action rifles and mauser pistols. It doesnt last too long though. Also, IGN reviewers are all pretentious assholes.

IGN hates every fucking game they can never give a GOOD review they make all of these great games sound so bad. The Darkness is an incredible game you won't be disappointed for the price it is amazingly good about 10 bucks.

this game is good bought and the cheap a few days ago and you can't compare it to riddick its not really the same type of game you have to use guns on the darkness but you can sneak around everywhere on riddick. its on par with riddick on gameplay

yah this game is better then butcher bay kinda same gameplay (although this is much harder) but the story is soooooo much better my only real complaint with this game is that i wished he would run faster

this game is a classic. i still have it. it had a great story, and i thought the gunplay for the time was quite revolutionary, with the two guns being independent and having their own aiming reticles.
