come on people, you have to suspend disbelief with the dog jumping off. This is a MOVIE! A comedic movie.The Seine River is too far over from the Eiffel and there is no body of water for the dog to fall into. Humor is one thing but, animal cruelty is another. The director chose the scene to be funny and the dog survived. If you go to Eiffel now, a tall fence is along the 2nd level and the sommet. Which is French for summit (the top) overrated view and too windy up there. 2nd level = great view!

Here is a shocker - the Griswold family is also NOT REAL. They are fictional characters in a fictional story. This is one of those amazing scenes (and movies) that never seems to lose its appeal or humor. There aren't enough funny movies or actors like this out there. Like good 80s music, there were some amazing 80s movies, and this is one of them.
