Keirin is Javanese invented traditional racing on velodromes like horse races...and instead of motorbike they traditionally uses bicycle also as other riders. This leader slowly increases speed and then suddenly goes of the track and fight starts... some 3...4 laps remains. Keirin is most extreme discipline in trackcycling.

@oGxKicks It's a keirin race. The field follows behind the pacer (the guy in the black suit) for most of the eight laps. The pacer slowly picks up speed. The pacer leaves the track with about 2 and a half laps left wherein the riders sprint for the finish.

Even people who DO know the sport are not sure. However, the theory is for the motorbike to gradually increase speed and then pull off at a particular speed so that the competitive part of the event starts at that speed and goes on for some distance or other. The Japanese invented the event and it is named after a beer. I'm not kidding.

@tdriftking88 The motorist in the front is there to let the lead man draft off him so they all get the same advantage and dictates the speed. You reduce 30% of the effort by drafting. Everyones legs get the same advantage of drafting.
