  • @tdriftking88 keirin is just one of many track events. regular sprints usually start out cat and mouse. I think keirin is usually the most exciting though, massive power, massive crashes.

  • I understand why they have the pace bike, but is there a reason he has to look so ridiculous? lol

  • imagine these wheels with spokes. I bet one of the those guys would be stabbed with them.

  • You see Hoy looking behind, seeing the guy coming, and going for that gap!

  • poor ross edgar

  • 4:04 aerosp0k says "f this, i'm outta here"

  • @eModell

    Aerospoke? Get the fuck out.

  • dammit now i have to find what this MorkaGraven dude said.

  • im curious as to how big their gear ratios are. can anyone tell me?

  • @BBoyEinstein154 Normally 49-13

  • What is the point of the dude on that weird looking red bike

  • @EVHfilms guess he`s trying to give everyone the chance to get speed in a slipstream

  • @0THC0 yeah that's probably it

  • @0THC0

Just google "Keirin". It will explain everything, and the role he plays.

  • @opmike343 there's a wikipedia section on Keirin too.. ,it's in the google search..

  • I am in to road cycling and this is the first track cycling video I have seen. This sport is awesome and intense!

  • loooool the guy in black on that bike looks like suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a nobhead hahahaha

  • They fell apart because they hit each other going 40+mph in very close proximity, your piece of shit would fall apart just as easy, Morka Graven.

  • better than nascar

  • may sound like a stupid question but whos guy in black suit at front and wahts he doing

  • @gangsta287 he is like start gate for struggle. Keirin is Javanese invented traditional racing on velodromes like horse races...and instead of motorbike they traditionally uses bicycle also as other riders. This leader slowly increases speed and then suddenly goes of the track and fight starts... some 3...4 laps remains. Keirin is most extreme discipline in trackcycling.

  • they should let me have all those parts that fell off :l

  • I don't really understand track cycling so excuse my ignorance but why was there a guy in a granny bike in first for a large portion of the race and why was he pedaling wierd?? lol

  • at 0:30 i couldnt afford to buy one of those track bikes. so i bought that bike instead

  • The original hipsters...

  • @LIGHTRONIX "The original hipsters" Loll

  • the rocket pocket man not there.. chris hoy easy to win

  • i dont get what the guy in the black suit is doing

  • @oGxKicks It's a keirin race. The field follows behind the pacer (the guy in the black suit) for most of the eight laps. The pacer slowly picks up speed. The pacer leaves the track with about 2 and a half laps left wherein the riders sprint for the finish.

  • @merrickx oh thanks thats what i was thinking

  • finally i can ride as a pro rider

riding a pace bike i think i can excel...

  • Its too bad that dude in black gave up! He was smoking them! ;)

  • @andwedonotknowhim to bad he still has to have a skin suit on too!

  • I love this Sport:)

  • follow the leader in the beginning lol.

  • QQQQQQ>>>....can some 1 tell me how much this bikes cost the carbon fork broke? and how tall are they?

  • well, now that i've gotten permanent stress fractures i've turned to this sport. ohhhh yeah!

  • Strange sport. Cool. Pretty hard fall. Guy in white got twisted up pretty good.

  • man my ebay special track bike will blow all of them out of the water.

  • did that guy in the red get punished for causing the crash? or did they not think he caused it? I dont have sound and am not experienced with bike racing, although I enjoy watching it. It seems like a very tactical sport, whilst also obviously being very physically demanding.

  • @WZamp To the best of my knowledge, no.

Yes, track racing is an amazing sport. It can take a lot out of you but it is just so much fun.

  • what the? I've never seen this

  • epic....

  • The best race ever and crashes

  • The best race ever

  • 2:57 u can see taylor phinney like AWWWWW SHIT!

  • in my view, the guy in the motorised bike and wet suit has a huge advantage over the rest of the competitors!

  • Nice catch on that loose front wheel!

  • I know nothing about this sport. Why was there a guy in front of them on that red motorized bike?

  • @tdriftking88

Even people who DO know the sport are not sure. However, the theory is for the motorbike to gradually increase speed and then pull off at a particular speed so that the competitive part of the event starts at that speed and goes on for some distance or other. The Japanese invented the event and it is named after a beer. I'm not kidding.

  • @tdriftking88 The motorist in the front is there to let the lead man draft off him so they all get the same advantage and dictates the speed. You reduce 30% of the effort by drafting. Everyones legs get the same advantage of drafting.

  • @tdriftking88 because of wind.... He blocks the wind for the racer in the front, it wouldn't be fair if the leader gets all the wind.

  • @ITsupportian But is it possible that some racers want to go faster? And also, isn't it a strategy to not be first and stay behind another racer? I don't see why there is such a need for the guy to be in the front for others to drift behind.

  • @tdriftking88 he sets the pace at the start xD

  • @tdriftking88 its basically:

    1) to keep the pace high and steady

    2) to stop riders trying to form breakaways

    3) to create a better show so that when it turns off the cyclists arent tired and they can sprint

  • @tdriftking88 alright several people have replied. thanks for answering my question. I feel like the motorized bike is kind of restrictive and while those final laps are interesting to watch, would seem nice for a race to be one of "cat and mouse"

  • i like that it makes me feel so fresh

  • Front guy's super funny, want an action figure of him

  • It starts today and my TV has just broken! I will have to watch it streaming online at livesportsontheweb (.) com

  • i wonder how much those bikes are worth?

  • @gtr3cords 15,000 dollars!!!! The Mavic IO FRONT wheel is 3,800 USD alone! They get them for free. Thank goodness for sponsors.

  • Hey great video

  • DAMN.

  • jajajjaaja q onda el de negro jaaajajaajjaja

  • 板張りのバンクってやっぱり痛いんかな?

  • 2:50 hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhaha

  • 2:52 Toma estupido

  • Id rather stick to MOUNTAIN BIKING.

  • TAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNK!!!

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNN ERRRRR!!

  • I love the guy in the black suit on the electric bike :)

  • I lol at this, my $2 bike can withstand all abuses. These things can't even fall over and not shatter.

  • @MorkaGraven but your $2 bike wont ride as fast as these bikes :P

  • want to bet on that. If i got a solid enough rider behind a stripped down tenspeed on alloy wheels, i don't think it'd be too much of a difference.

  • you fail

  • @MorkaGraven these bikes are fixed gear track bikes, not 10-speeds. and they are pure carbon fiber. Light as a feather. plus aerodynamics, and a solid rider will leave your $20 bike in the dust. These bikes are ridiculously faster than steel 10 spd frames with alloy wheels.

  • @HurleyArts And don't forget, no brakes! My son races and every time I bite my nails.

  • @onewahene thats pretty cool. How did he get into that?

  • @MorkaGraven hahaha are you retarded?? first of all if you got a 'stripped down tenspeed on alloy wheels' you wouldn't even make it to the start line coz itd be illegal. dumbass.

  • @Yarxing Actually....My bike will beat at least one of these bikes. I have a Cinelli Laser 58cm with a rear Xentis mark 700c and a Front Xentis mark 650c. With a Profile Cobra wing Bullhorns, a Dura ace crankset and BB with Racing Pro chain NJS.

  • @RockyShitNigga ya mon ya gonna beat one of em with ya racing pro chain fo sho

  • @Yarxing : No not realy... you can have the best bike on earth, but without the driver is it quiet wayne. It only promotes the time.

  • @Yarxing

it would if chris hoy was on it!!! =P

  • @GREALDO21 no, he would break the frame with his legpower.. :p

  • @MorkaGraven I would love to see your $2 bike crash on solid floor at 70kph. Oh wait, that wouldn't happen because you wouldn't even be able to go half that speed.

  • That's carbon fibre for you.

  • getting splinters off the track would suck major, major balls

  • dammmmm let me get one of thoose rims.. they dont use them again anyways ;P

  • so you can use it on the road?

    lol hipsters

  • hahahahha omgggg daaang the pinche 5,000 dollar bike just smashed into pieces!

  • The bike broke into pieces. D:

  • wicked fall

  • what on earth is going on here?

  • Dwarf-tossing seems relatively sensible compared to this.

  • @flyhead2 How sick would dwarf-tossing during a fixed-gear race be?

  • Those poor bikes...

  • BEST SPORT

  • @newspapertux Or NOT!!!

  • 60-70 km/h

  • lol that pace setter guy in black looks hilarious

  • I know :D

  • oops rong person i mean the other guy who kept on getting hit at the end i dont know his name.

  • According to chris hoys autobiography he can reach speeds of 82kph or 51mph that is well quick

  • impossible. maybe drafting behind a motor but not solo.

  • I have seen the man in action, he passed a motorcycle(not derny) on the track because the motor was sliding up track and wasn't going fast enough.

  • Jordan, i have no idea how fast they are going, but i am sure they are going by bicycle. If you pedal those things, they go, some shit to do with chains and cogs.

  • why the hell do people rate this soo poorly, this is awesome footage compared to other irrelevant crap people post about cycling. just saying

  • how ar are they going? and how fast?

  • omg there goes like 10 thousand dollars on the wheels lol

  • That was a nasty crash!

  • LOL the guy in the front is hilarous!!!!

  • looks like the tube of sir Hoy rolled off, would explain a lot

  • nasty elbow

  • britons on the track, fucking unbeatable

  • yeah that guy totally jumps out of the way

  • I feel sorry for the camera man, that mavic Io flying straight towards him

  • Mr Bauges Why?

    I do not understand.

  • Nasty, Ross Edgar did well to get up to complete the race after being taken out that way.

  • nasty, Ross Edgar did well to get up and carry on, that took some guts

  • Hoy is said to be 'unhurt' and is fit for the Worlds. FYI :]

  • shit, that looks nasty

  • The exact same thing happened to me as Edgar, snapped my forks clean in half at revolution 23! haha. Hope Chris is well though.

  • what? edgar did not do rev23

  • Pretty bad stuff, I hope all is Ok .

  • Comment removed

  • I suppose Hoy is always the guy to beat but there are better ways to do it. Hope the French are happy.

  • The French are happy to have won but the contact is a risk Keirin.I hope that Chris Hoy will recover well from his blessures.Hey Chris.

  • I'm sure Chris appreciates your comments. Does M Bauge?

  • Gutted, I thought the dude on the black shopper was gonna cruise the win.

  • Holy sh... what a nasty crash. I really hope Chris recovers for the Worlds.
