  • G'Day from australia to catspit productions. What brand of tension meter is that, and roughly how much did it set you back if you can recall. I have learnt alot from watching your vids. I will experiment with making my own screens, and i plan on using a metal bracket on the corners, and spraying the wood surface with some sort of sealant as soon as its made to prevent warping

  • @FightingAussieLad This is a unit from Saati so I’m not sure if it’s a Saati brand or just a resold unit of another brand. My colleague has it at the moment…LOL. They can cost anywhere from $400 to over $800 depending on grade and quality. Glad to hear you are learning from my videos! I appreciate the support! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

  • How long will the tension stay above 15 newtons on an aluminum frame? and can you get them stretched by a company? or is the only way to do that with a rolling frame?

  • @RaptorX1800 They should stay pretty tight when used properly. Also the more usage over time will weaken the mesh. So there is no set time frame for this but mine can last for years. Some don’t last that long too. You can get them stretched by a screen maker. You may have to ship them out and back to do it but it can be done. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

  • hi, what dimensions of wood would you use for the frames?

  • Thanks for the info, I always liked aluminum over wood but it was just cause i liked the feel better but now i have more reason to stick to aluminum. I know aluminum cost a little more but its a few bucks and its worth it. Thanks again good video

  • @RevolverGraphix You’re welcome, it’s my pleasure to help out and share information. I agree with you on the cost. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠

  • Loving the vids, random question.

What do you do with the aluminum static frames once the mesh is unusable? Do any of the companies offer a trade-in/recycling program where they will reapply mesh? Do you just take them to a recycling center? Do you add new mesh yourself?

I do know about the roller/retensionable frames, but I'm not looking in that direction for now. I'm currently entertaining the idea or getting started in a small home based/weekender type setup.

  • Static aluminum frames may be cleaned of mesh and adhesive and then reused. They may be re-stretched for as long as the frame is rigid and square. They may be sent out for this or it can be done in house if you have the proper equipment, chemicals and/or tools. I will be addressing some stretching methods in the near future. An introduction to roller frames is in the works as well as a video which shows how to use a large roller frame to stretch 2 smaller manual wood frames. Thanks! Stay tuned!

  • Great video. Thanks for showing us & recommending why Aluminium frames are better. I didn't know there was a tension meter for the mesh measurement.
