dude it's the blue SUV's fault (the guy in front of the car that crashes)! Look: he switched lanes on a solid white line with no blinker; the sedan has to slam on his brakes -- he's braking as soon as he comes into frame -- but doesnt have ABS so he fails.
@killer807ownz what do you own bitch you own nothing , - you can not crash while driving slow , are you a fucking retard if you cant drive while going 15 miles or less per hour , you sir are a fucking dusch bag
He should of never hit his brakes. If you start sliding the best thing to do (especially when there was no traffic around the truck) is to just steer into the direction of the slide and not touch your brakes. You have absolutely no control when all your wheels are locked up.
Further thought may suggest that the fact that 1,000's of people were watching live and thinking the worst- may have had an effect on the situation. Quantum Consciousness experiment 208
Nobody worry about stopping to see if they had little kids in the car and make sure they are ok. Just keep going on about your day! Jeesh maybe its just me but i stop almost everytime i see a (non hobo) person standing on the side of the road.
That's a good example of how treacherous bridges can be in winter condition ... since the warmness of the ground is missing, the tarmac surface is freezing while the normal road is not.
people are stupid, they saw an accident and instead of steering clear, they stopped down, blocked further traffic and caused more accident. they should get the hell out asap.
The driver panicked (maybe hydroplanned a bit?), braked very hard even though there was no reason to do so, caused the weight to come off the rear wheels resulting in a very slight slide, then he tried to correct using sterring instead of releasing the brakes. His overcorrected steering caused the spin.
if you hit ice just let off the gas, keep the steering wheel straight if possible, andstay off the brakes, just quick taps, but let do not the wheels lock up. The car will safer than leaning on the brakes.
@lemonrind I don't think we even use salt anymore.it's too "environmentally unfriendly" nowadays we use some chemical that does absolutely nothing. it's ridiculous.
Every person should go in an empty icy parking lot and practice handling their vehicle on slick pavement because it never ceases to amaze me how stupid people are when they lose control

Never ever hit your brakes when sliding on ice. Don't let off the throttle fast, ease off the throttle slowly, correct it, drive away safely. When your sliding you only want to turn your wheel till the tires are facing the direction you want to go, biggest mistake ppl make is turning to far, overcorrecting.
@90TegRS So if a car is spinning 20 feet in front of you how do you not hit your brakes even on ice. It is always a persons instinct to hit the brakes in those last few seconds of thinking especially when the adrenaline starts pumping.
@hifiguy9 you hit ur brakes on pure ice when sliding u give up all control ur vehicle. Your best bet is to not hit the brakes, steer to avoid. Back in about 1973 there was a chain reaction crash on an icy bridge in OKC.
I was close enough to hear it.
I think 65-67 cars were involved.
I know it sounded like someone clapping their hands....smack, smack, smack, smack...that went on for about 6-7 minutes.
Nobody was injured badly enough to be transported but a lot of people had to find alternate transportation.
I think I remember the Newspapers saying that 40+ citations were issued.
You can bust your ass on ice.
