Ben, I am inclined to believe that anyone who decides that truth (recognizing dificulties in defining that precicely) is unimportant and can take a both hand approach to everything, is a sophist and therefore, it becomes rather difficult not only to take them seriously, but to find any practical application of their teaching. Perhaps, I am more concerned with ideas and truth, than people, I am trying very hard to hold both equally high.
If you are everybody's side, does that mean that you are on the side of radical islam or neo nazism? Do you mean to imply a reletivism of truth, epistemology, and morality? Or if given undenyable circumstance of absolute truth vs absolute fiction, will you hold both with equil value and refuse to devalue what can be and has been shown to be absolute farce.? If a 26 year old woman in a mental ward decides that she is president John F Kennedy, are her assertions worth anything?
I think he's trying to be an optimist when it comes to people. Many of his videos seem to be more about the shortcomings of absolute assertions not assertions.
being there for people is easy, very easy infact, i find the hard part to be finding the people when they need you, if only people would be open enough, to come to you, when needed, but i also see the problem of who to choose to go too =))

that is exactly my thinking! absolute and exactly... and i guess were not alone with that.
i came to that conclusion (which is not right, because it is more sort of an emotion and a feeling of connection) years ago.
it has a lot to do with complexity. the most complex matter the brain can only represent and process as emotion.
