It's like when you sit down with a good friend and just poor your heart out to them. The friend may not even respond and may not even be able to help, but somehow the act of pouring one's worries/wishes out helps. In Cathoicism you have to pray in penance after confession. Something like 6 Our Fathers. Dave Alan said when he was a kid all the kids used to tell each other their penance. So he just added to it and said he was given 30 Our Fathers so that he acquired the reputation of being seriously hard without having to do any work for it.

but I am grateful I have some blessings in life .see I don't believe in all that nonsense that some people say oh it's a test from god;god is testing us to see whether or not we are worthy of him & his aid blessing etc this is all nonsense based on dogmas about what god is & what god isnt. the god of faiths sounds all to human to be god. buddha talked about doing good just for the sake of doing good with out expecting to be thanked,but god seems to want to be thanked for doing something good.

sure life is sometimes unjust & at times fair,but I guess we all must stride & do the best that we can. sure it's not fair that there are others that are smarter then I am, better looking then I am ,healthier then I am,or grow up in a happier home then I did ,or seem to be a lot happier then I am, or have far more opportunity in life then I could ever dream of,sure all that is true in my own personal experience

see I kinda feel the same way.I'm not Muslim,but I've prayed for many things for which I never gotten what I was praying for,but then as I look back maybe what I was praying for I really didn't need after all. I think wanting something & needing something are 2 different things. I think on some level maybe our prayers are answered on a more personal spiritual deeper level. I don't know how to describe it in any other way. I really dont think praying for someone else works. it's more personal

I congratulate you for the intellectual level you reached.Your videos are superb and done with taste, the music at the end of them is great.I too was a muslim and became a humanist after years of research and thought.

Ok, I will... Starting with Sahih Muslim 3371. Mohammed says that it's perfectly ok to rape non-muslim prisoners, and that there's no reason to pull ones cock out early to avoid pregnancy - because Allah already has decided who gets born.(I.e. rape is part of Allah's plan at least when the woman gets pregnant)

God does whatever he wills. Salah is not prayer, rather it is worship. Dua is prayer. Most of the pictures you showed were of Muslims doing Salah. that is a duty God made compulsary on Mankind, and it benefits mankind.
with Duas in the Salah or outside it, one should ask of Allah. you may refer to the many times or the 50/50 accounts you claim, if one asks he may or may not recieve. its chance you say.

Powerful personal story about your daughter. Great job immediatly saying that it wasn't Allah's fault and that you weren't mad at Allah. For some reason, that is something I get ALL THE TIME: "You don't believe in our religion because you're mad at god!" What an absurdity! I'd have to believe in the god to be mad at it. No... I was reading a bit of "The God Delusion" in the bath today - one supposedly learned theologian said that such tragedies in our lives are to be welcomed because they give us an "opportunity" to be better people as a result of our suffering.

there was actually a case near my home where the couple prayed for the daughter instead of getting her medical attention.. the problem was easily treatible.. Lets just say the prayers didn't work.. The girl died of an easily curible problem.

Very well said. I don't believe in God either, but one reason I think people pray so much is it makes them feel good. It's like when you sit down with a good friend and just poor your heart out to them. The friend may not even respond and may not even be able to help, but somehow the act of pouring one's worries/wishes out helps. Also, using your special status as a believer to intercede with the creator of the UNIVERSE probably sure makes you feel like one hell of a good person.

In Cathoicism you have to pray in penance after confession. Something like 6 Our Fathers. Dave Alan said when he was a kid all the kids used to tell each other their penance. So he just added to it and said he was given 30 Our Fathers so that he acquired the reputation of being seriously hard without having to do any work for it.

I can relate with your story, although I never believed in any religion, I tried to pray anyway to heal my mother. She died after 30 years of agony of a horrible , crippling disease.Prayers do not work, "God" does not exist.

hassan, I pray to God for everything from where did I put my car keys, to what Greek exegetical rule covers a phrase in the Bible, and I ALWAYS get answers, going on for 40 years. So I prayed for your friend just now. Also, your daughter is in heaven, per Bible.
Prayer is not answered if prayed to the wrong person, if in a state of sin while praying (i.e., religiosity itself is a sin of man offering his works).
Try saying this: 'God, if you're up there, I need proof'. See what happens.

No, hassan, you probably said it the right way. The only 'condition' is that you must really WANT to know. So if you know you met that 'condition', then the answer is a) playing before your eyes, b) is being rolled out in stages. Think of the movie 'Signs' with Mel Gibson (forget the UFO theme, notice how his character adds up the facts at movie end). Took him awhile to add up all the hints he'd been getting.
You're getting an answer, yet when enough data is clear to you, you'll see. :)

Of all the possible gods and faith groups that have been worshiped by man lets say about 10,000 mainstream groups why should I accept the claims of one of the 33,000 Christian sects over one of the of the other faith groups and their sub sects. The true creator of the universe could still be in hiding. Is it not intellectually honest to tell a creator should their be one, that the evidence provided was insufficient to make such a monumental decision.

lb10128, that's why you need to ask God to knit the data together in your head. At this point you're not sure WHO 'god' is, and are inclined to believe there is none. So there are quite a lot of issues to go through. And none of those issues are worth your time, UNTIL you're sure that 'god' in some form exists. Hence the need to ask the 'ceiling', so to speak, for something only a 'god' could do: knit the information together in your head, so you personally can know He exists.

If God does exists - and if he would have answered my prayer if I had only prayed through Jesus - then that means he heard my prayers before but ignored them because I was born into the wrong religion.

Your video is about no god answering prayer. And now you BLAME a version of God. So if that version of God existed, would it be right to answer someone who mocks him?
First things first. Does any form of 'god' exist? To know that, you must look at the ceiling as it were, and ASK (not mock) for proof. So we come full circle, and I leave off. My busy season at work. :)

Last 2-3 years in this city at least ten little children vanished.Everybody prayed for them,churches,even sikh,hindu temples hold prayer services,they will be found safe and sound.Unfortunately non of them found alive(god was so busy with looking brainouty`s car keys,plus a god, only answers christian prayers,how kind of him)

For anyone to, (1) post such an immoral statement, but (2) even render such a malignant thought about how their so called magical deity could have saved you child sets a new low in my opinion.
