thats alot of fun until the tube blows up in your hand. A safer way to shoot artillery shells is to use a proper sized 1/4 inch steel pipe about 2 feet long. Attach it a bunch of duck tape to a piece of wood carved into the shape of a rifle stock and you have a grenade launcher!

People have been severly injured or killed from a shell misfiring by loading it in the tube when it was hot, make sure the tube is no longer hot when you go to load your shells each time.

Also a good idea to put some bricks around the tube to hold it in place. Wait a little while before loading each mortar shell, if the tube becomes very hot from launching mortars, the next shell you load in the tube could go off in your face without lighting it because if the tube is very hot from previous launches it's capable of launching the shell without even lighting the fuse just by loading it in the hot tube.
