The "freedom loving" Christian Right embody irony. Most of them advocate for a "rugged individualistic" view of life, which consists of free market capitalism, free speech, freedom of expression of THEIR religion, freedom to bear arms and minimal interference of the government in their affairs, and yet they vocally advocate in favor of government prohibition of assisted suicide, thus encroaching on the most basic freedom of all - the right to determine what to do with one's own life.
In minute 8:40 - 9:05 the director says that most of the protests against assisted suicide are from the religious. I find this ironic, considering that the religious profess belief in the afterlife, and stress how this life is transitory. Yet, it is the religious that seem hell bent (excuse the pun) to hang on to this life and they make it sinful to voluntarily pass from the very world they believe to be TEMPORARY to begin with! Maybe they are not so certain about eternity as they profess.
Having watched numerous documentaries, I have to say that the "Suicide Tourist" has to be one of the most emotionally riveting experiences I have seen. There were times I was tempted to stop watching, but ultimately I kept going because it was a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and it was also a testament to the power of love to compel us to do something that is hard for many of us to do - and that is to let those who we love go.
I witnessed assistant suicide in the uk without any family members even knowing I saw this 1 nurse with the consent of consultants and registrars knowing he was injected with morthine every 15 mins right up until he died he his heart around 8 am and before he died he was shouting help help yet when I pressed the button to get help no 1 came for at least 30 mins they then trying to save him and play innocent yet I told them to stop they did for 10 mins until they realised I told them the truth
I think this guy did an amazing thing - he lived his life to the absolute full and went out on his own terms, before his ALS made him a total and unrecognisable vegetable.

Pentobarbital was also used for this purpose in the Northern Territory of Australia, prior to euthanasia becoming illegal in that region.

Creig Ewert and his family are very brave. I have an incurable illness and am suffering every min of every day. I have contemplated my options and don't know if i could be so brave. People in this situation should be offered the option even if they don't use it. This decision is the most difficult one that one could ever make and it should not be looked down upon. The movie A Short Stay in Switzerland (here on Youtube) depicts this situation with the upmost dignity. You should watch it!

In minute 8:40 - 9:05 the director says that most of the protests against assisted suicide are from the religious. I find this ironic, considering that the religious profess belief in the afterlife, and stress how this life is transitory. Yet, it is the religious that seem hell bent (excuse the pun) to hang on to this life and they make it sinful to voluntarily pass from the very world they believe to be TEMPORARY to begin with! Maybe they are not so certain about eternity as they profess.

Having watched numerous documentaries, I have to say that the "Suicide Tourist" has to be one of the most emotionally riveting experiences I have seen. There were times I was tempted to stop watching, but ultimately I kept going because it was a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and it was also a testament to the power of love to compel us to do something that is hard for many of us to do - and that is to let those who we love go.

I witnessed assistant suicide in the uk without any family members even knowing I saw this 1 nurse with the consent of consultants and registrars knowing he was injected with morthine every 15 mins right up until he died he his heart around 8 am and before he died he was shouting help help yet when I pressed the button to get help no 1 came for at least 30 mins they then trying to save him and play innocent yet I told them to stop they did for 10 mins until they realised I told them the truth

It is commonly used in the US state of Oregon for this purpose & is also used by the Swiss euthanasia group Dignitas. Pentobarbital was also used for this purpose in the Northern Territory of Australia, prior to euthanasia becoming illegal in that region.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem in most cases. For the rest, it's a chickens way out of the life God gave them (unless they are on life support which is removed because they are in a vegetative state).

I'm freedom and liberty which is why I'm opposed to these hate and thought crime Federal attempts to destroy our first amendment rights as the first step toward forcing an authoritarian state ideology upon us; however, I find it interesting that the very people that work hard to see that done then want the right for the government to condone them killing themselves. Typically many people are affected when someone kills themself and this will increase when the state forces doctors to assist.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a permanent problem not the other way around. What if you had no money for your whole life? That right there is permanent. If God gives you life then how come he doesn't give you money and he is always making our lives for the worse not the better. God is testing you is a bunch of bull. That is cruel if you say God is testing you.

Creig Ewert and his family are very brave. I have an incurable illness and am suffering every min of every day. I have contemplated my options and don't know if i could be so brave. People in this situation should be offered the option even if they don't use it. This decision is the most difficult one that one could ever make and it should not be looked down upon. The movie A Short Stay in Switzerland (here on Youtube) depicts this situation with the upmost dignity. You should watch it!

if some teenager (Im a teenager) wants to kill themselves because theyre parents wont let them go to a club, or because of some guy, thats just being a coward. all it does it hurt the people that love that person. now if somebody is in serious pain, to a point where they cant even really live life because they cant move. they deserve to be able to escape that. in that situation, theyre loved ones should be helping them be comfortable until they want to finally leave.

Angers me that all these selfish religious people and ignorant people against assissted suicide have a such a big say in this. people that are against suicide have never been in "real" pain. Obviously the pope is against suicide because he's not in real pain. Very selfish is you ask me....to not let someone who wants to die, die. I gaurantee you.... you cripple a person that is against suicide....put him in a wheel chair, put that person in enough pain....and they will definetily change their views on assisted suicide.
