The first time i heard this it was shuffing on my iPod - "what the frak is this amazing music?" I guessed Captain Beefheart. Paul's greatest vocal since Helter-Skelter.
@beatlesfan1975 The same Jamaican man who used to say Obladi Oblada life goes on to Paul also said this to him. He would say "Nothing Too Much Out Of Sight Man"
the fact that this is in 7/4 garnners paul even more respect in my opinion as a musician and innovator. i'd love to hear more of this kind of groovy/grungy sound in 7 as well as in 5, 6, 9 10 etc
As everybody, I'd say the missing bit of this song is "chaotics" drums a la Keith Moon. But as this song is in 7/4, it might be more difficult for him to play...
The vocals from Paul McCartney are AMAZING. I don't think I've heard his voice get so raw and raspy before.. especially the growl at the end... and the pause before climax in the beat is amazing in its own right, too. I want to crack a joke about this being "Bigger than Jesus..." but I'll spare you.. <3
I agree with you HuckleberrySlim. Of course, Led Zeppelin wasn't even the first ones to stomp on these musical grounds. Before there was Zeppelin, there was Howlin' Wolf, and all those other great American bluesmen.
just cause led zeppelin stomped on those musical stomping grounds first, doesnt mean no one else can stomp on them. especially if they have a slightly different stomp.
Yes - Zeppelinesque without the killer Zeppelin drumming! The song still rocks. Nice guitars. Great vocals. But would have been even more awesome with an "all over the place" drum track ala Keith Moon or Bonham. But this is an observation - not a criticism. Every drummer shouldn't sound like Bonham. Every singer shouldn't sound like McCartney. So - it stands as a great song as is.
So so so soooooooooooo fantastic. It is something like Helter Skelter and Old Siam,Sir, from the 79 Wings album Back to the Egg. Fantastic, the best new Fireman album is Pauls in the last 20 years. Soooo powerful
Wow, for his age he can hold a tone. That's amazing.

Stands amongst his greatest in my humble opinion. No one rocks like Paul, it's just the truth...

Quit arguing about music. The Beatles were good, Led Zeppelin is good, it's all good. We should enjoy music, not squabble about it. ^^
