  • Wow!

  • Superb! I wish Edge could play this song as well as you do. This is the best Pride guitar cover on YouTube, and I've probably seen them all.

  • Awesome! Where did you get the backingtrack?

  • can you tell how to get that backing track?? you are great

  • what a great gift from god you have been blessed with...

  • That was really fantastic! I saw your comment saying you were 15 when it came out. I am just a bit older. It was incredible hearing that song on the radio the first time and just could not believe the sound. Awesome! I was in college and remember going to the record store and got the first one that came out of the box the day it went on sale. Again, great post!

  • verry verry good!

what are your delays on m 13

    thanks

  • Not quite there on tone but playing is bang on

  • @120TOMTOM fuck it, sounds amazing

  • probably the best pride cover i ever heard, just an fyi, this is my favorite song ever, you make that guitar sing. rock on my friend !!!!!!

  • Very nice cover Mick. Songs like these remind me that it's the small things that really make life worth living. Thanks.

  • You are Very Close to the original!

    Fantastic.

  • Your so good at playing guitar

  • First, great cover and great job getting his tone. Second, that is a SWEET sounding Gretsch

  • Nice ear for the original recording tone....

  • In my opinion, this guy have to only improve his playing skill a little bit...becoz he has already have a great pair of ear...I like the tone..close to the original record...

  • Hi Mick, your one of the best guitarists on youtube.well done.Jon Vox

  • in one word amazing !!!

  • Utterly incredible. :)

  • whats ur delay settings....?

  • @jesterraj about 420 ms :)

  • Beautiful sound :)

  • oh man finally you have recovered the amazing sound performed in studio! I'd like Edge plays with this sound (originally Gibson) and not with the stratocaster...

    Love it!

  • Mick somehow i can hear 2 guitars there, am i right? cheers

  • That was kick ass

  • "Dont let them take it away", hahah

    well done

  • Theres a big debate on the exact guitar that was used on the studio version of Pride it wasnt the discontinued Gretsch 6136 dc white falcon that we see Edge use in the promo it is his yellow Gibson Les Paul custom that he uses on this song on the doumentary for The Unforgettable Fire we see him actually play that instrument on the playback while they rehearse the song the tone on The Gretsch is very rich where the LP has a more distinctive heavier tone

  • DAMN! thats all I can say bro! Nicely done

  • thats it man thats the tone. swet.

  • SUPERBE, SUPER SON !!!!!

  • OUTSTANDING

  • Gorgeous sound mate! I also play a Gretsch, just wondering how u managed to get such a great tone from that bridge pick up position

  • Great Mick amazing,wauuuu

  • to be completely honest edge shouldn't play that with a strat anymore, it seriously screws it up for me

  • Indeed.. He should play it with the same tuning as the studio version and with the Gibson Super 400 CES (he used the S400CES on studio version).

  • @sgf1989 ITA. The Strat and/or Single coils just don't do it for Pride

  • @AntiRellik I'm not alone on earth!!

  • @sgf1989 Nope ;) I personally think Edge should play Pride with the Explorer (Dallas Schoo did that and it sounded really good) or maybe an LP or a Grestch =)

The live version in '86 from Self Aid was the only time they actually nailed the studio tone... and The Edge was using a Gibson hollow body.

  • @AntiRellik I personally think Edge knows more about guitars than all of us together

  • Mick - just started watching your vids, truly amazing stuff... You've obviously spent a ton of time getting your effects settings dialed in, would you be willing to share your effects path & settings on the M13? I'm sure you'd help Line 6 sell a few M13s just by doing so...

Does your band ever perform in California? I live in SF and am in LA a decent amount, be great to check out a show.

  • Great playing ! 5 stars from me!!

    FREEDOM FOR ERNST ZUNDEL

    --your name will live forever--

  • realmente magnifecent"de lo mejor. ke mas decir, desde argentina amigo"

  • hey man very good cover... the delay for this song its so cool

  • nice guitar ... one day i'll have one of them, and a blackie fender strato, like edge's.

  • I'm pretty sure Edge used the LP Custom for that in the studio. ;-) But he played "Pride" and "Still Haven't Found" on the Gretsch during the popmart tour.

@mick: nice work! What's your signal path? The mod-delay sounds like an Axe-FX...

  • Thanks i used my line 6 M13 for everything into a 65 Vox pacemaker amp

  • @StephAlan

In studio it was either a strat, or the gretsch. I dont think he used the white LP custom very much on the unforgettable fire

  • I honestly think he should use a Grestch on this song. There's a growl and chime that you can't get from a Strat with this song. In the studio, I'm convinced the Edge used his 70's Les Paul Custom. In the Unforgettable Documentary you can see him holding that thing while they're playing this live.

  • In studio the edge used a Gretsch White Falcon

  • Really? The documentary is online (search keywords "Unforgettable Fire Part 3") and for this exact recording, you'll see him use his yellow Les Paul Custom at the 1 minute, 32 second mark.

  • Yes, this is true...

Umh, strange sound for a les paul (even if Edge can makes everything he wants), and also in the video we heard the arpeggio, but he is clearly palying chords...

  • How do you know what? o_O I though he used his Les Paul or maybe even the Strat cause of his heavy use of it on live shows.

  • I think he used a Gibson Super 400 CES...

  • I agree with Euginis. The album version to me sounds more like a humbucker in the bridge position than a hollowbody sound. I think a lot of people are under the impression he used the white falcon is because he used that in the video. However then again, I've also read somewhere that the only song he used the LPC on during the UF recordings was Indian Summer Sky. Who knows?!

  • I must say, this song sounds great on the gretch!, nice touch on the Bigsby sometimes.

    Verry nice.

BTW. i was 5 when this song was released. still love it!

  • this is great stuff mick, was it done originly on the white falcon

  • Been watching your vids for awhile now; saw this Pride version couple days ago, nothing to say I'm actually speechless concerning this video; I was 22 when Pride came out, to see and hear someone play this w/out a Strat and sound that good..... talking when I need to be listening. Thanks

  • Thanks for the kind words...I was 15 when it came out :) We are all getting old i guess :) Theres a bunch of U2 songs that he used one type of guitar in studio and another live for some reason..This is one of them..

  • You guys are lucky that you were around when this came out, I wasn't born until 3 years after. I would have loved to see all the U2 shows back in the day.

  • Dynamite sound!! Can only hope they return Pride to its original tuning and maybe even get Edge to play it on his Gretsch after seeing this...he seems to be on that kind of kick anyway, so why not. Amazing tones!!

  • Ummm, Edge? Is that you? Nice!

  • 1:52 HARMONICS OMG. U rock Mick. Best covers in Youtube. AWESOME.

  • What's the delay time? And can you tell me where you got the backing track?

  • Did you do any overdubs? Specifically asking about the part at 1:41. Thanks Mick!

  • That is def an overdub or something in the backing track.

    Cool Cover :-)

  • Well either that, or he has three hands! :-)

  • There are no overdubs, I think it's the open E string with delay, Mick is brilliant!!! This cover is absolutely unbelievable! Best sound ever acheived on a cover for this song imo.

  • WOW!

  • Reminds me of my youth.. all those early U2 concerts. Great job man.

  • Great tone!

    Sean

  • very nice sound as usual
