George is obviously uninformed. i don't think anyone should call themselves atheists unless they've read the Bible and/or other Religion's Holy books, otherwise they don't know what they don't believe in. but that will never happen. anyone who calls themselves atheist will not look for answers for their questions in the Bible if they have already convinced themselves that it is false.
Well if you don't believe in the Bible (for the reason that it was just written by men with extraordinary unproven claims) then why would you believe in any other religious book that was made under those same conditions?
Who cares if it isn't 100% Biblically accurate? Not accepting or following God will not lead you to the Kingdom of Heaven is still the basic idea here. Regardless of what supreme being he's depicting, it doesn't the change the fact it's still a bunch of unproven claims with no objective logic whatsoever.

Carlin never claimed once to my knowledge to identify himself as specifically "atheist." He may have said "agnostic," but I don't remember that clearly myself.(And there is a BIG difference between an atheist and agnostic, namely the pompous determinism of intellectual certainty) Please correct me if I am wrong with some examples from his videos, books, or transcripts. WRONG...Carlin did not think that life goes beyond faith. Watch the end of his "Saving the Planet" video. He was not religious of course, but he clearly makes a statement of faith in that piece. It's REALLY annoying that I have to set so many people straight on this, but somebody has got to do it. That's all a matter of semantics, "god," "universal consciousness," or "The Big Electron" as Carlin says. Carlin clearly states that he thinks we are all part of something "far greater than we can conceive of." Does that sound like something an atheist would say? It's pretty clear he believes in something, but doesn't want to use "God" to describe it, because that term's association with organized religion often invokes justifiable disgust. But definitely NOT atheist

And I think the reason Carlin isn't using the word "God" is because "The Big Electron" doesn't really overlap with what most people think of God. God to most people is something that cares about them while "The Big Electron" just is because it is and doesn't care.
Probably the best thing about the opening of this is that most people take religion out SO FAR that it's just ludicrous. However, if you read it without his sarcastic tone (which is only there to begin with for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES), is actually not that big of a stretch. Right, if you watch the end of Carlin's "Saving the Planet" video, you see he clearly agrees almost exactly with what you say. He just does not use the word "God." Many self-proclaimed atheists are ironically less free thinking than they would like to think. That's all a matter of semantics, "god," "universal consciousness," or "The Big Electron" as Carlin says. Carlin clearly states that he thinks we are all part of something "far greater than we can conceive of." Does that sound like something an atheist would say? It's pretty clear he believes in something, but doesn't want to use "God" to describe it, because that term's association with organized religion often invokes justifiable disgust. But definitely NOT atheist

Right, if you watch the end of Carlin's "Saving the Planet" video, you see he clearly agrees almost exactly with what you say. He just does not use the word "God." Many self-proclaimed atheists are ironically less free thinking than they would like to think. It's unfortunately viewed as a cool, intelligent validation of one's self to be intellectually rebellious against the mystery of life.
