Probation? Had that been a civilian, he would have undoubtedly done time. There was a cop in my home town that committed multible armed bank robberies, and he didn't even spend a day in prison on grounds he was "under stress." I'm so sick of these double standards. When cops are given more rights than the people, you inevitably get a police state.

Only because you are looking at only one punishment. A civilian arrested for this gets to keep his job. A civilian also wouldn't have his face and name dragged through the media because the video would never make the news. The cops looses everything, his job, his reputation, his character.... his entire life. If any "double-standard" exists, it works against the cops; not for them. If any double-standard favors the cops, this isn't the case to try and prove it.

The cop was drunk / crashed / she died / he was fine & pulled a knife on anyone that stopped to help. She is dead Forever. You can't remember shit after drinking a lot of alcohol. He probably blacked out long before the fight ever occured. She cut him off because he was well over his limit. So I think he was going back to get some beer for himself, and she said something or pushed him, which caused him to attack. Not to say it was right, and he should have been banned from being a police officer.
