@CCWAVES Reggie Miller is clutch. Allen is not; he's just good at three's. Miller was so good in his prime he was in range as soon as he hit half court.
i remember seeing reggie millers last clutch shot live in the stadium when i was in 4th grade, i think it was game 2 or 3 of the eastern conference semi's in '05. he beat the pistons with a clutch shot, and the pacers fell down hill ever since......
@manning1887 Do you even watch it now? Guys like LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Nash, Durant, Paul, D Williams etc are awesome to watch. Reggie is the most overrated superstar ever. Check out his stats, not just his highlights.
I don't really think you can call someone "overrated" when legends like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson have stated on camera that they feared playing Reggie.
@G4RAWZONE True Reggie's 'highs' were amazing though he wasn't very consistent. There is a reason he didn't win a championship while being in some very good teams.
@stepbackj Not true at all. Reggie's problem was that he never had a legit 2nd scoring option. Back in the day it was ALL Reggie. Mark Jackson could create opportunities for guys, but Reggie never had that other player at the SF-position to complement him. McKey was more of a defensive-minded hustle player. It's no coincidence that when he had Jalen Rose (And Austin Crosherein his one good season) out on the perimeter with him in 2000 that he finally got to the Finals.
Outside of true hoop fans, no one really knew who Reggie Miller was until that series. He hadn't done anything relevant in the NBA until that season other than the fight with MJ.
what fueled my hatred 4 "Ears" @ the time, was a comment he made after the Pacers blew the Bulls out, he said:"Take Michael Jordan off the Bulls & what the hell do they have over there? nobody" coming from a cat who could'nt even beat his sister 1 on 1.
I remember that comment and I really didn't like him that much either. I thought he could play but he was a jerk and then he had the fight with MJ. Have you noticed you never see Reggie and Cheryl in the same place at the same time?
I really would'nt call that a fight, only because MJ snuffed him & walked away with scratches LOL!!! so U're telling me that the interview she did with him was trick cameras?
his sister was taller than him and she was a hall of fukn famer in the WNBA, u dipshit.
And if it werent for cheryl miller then reggie wud never have been the great shooter he was, he had to learn to shoot over her, and he became the greatest shooter EVER.
And he had a point about MJ, the Bulls had Pippen and that was it
hold on homie, I understand all that, but the name calling isn't necessary, but since U took it there, the WNBA doesn't have a hall of fame U dumb fuck.
yeah he's a great shooter, but how many RINGS does he have? 0
eh yeah it does, look it up and also who gives a shit about rings. Yeah they are important, but you can still be an amazing player eg. LeBron, Gilbert Arenas, Charles Barkley, Tracy McGrady, John Stockton, Steve Nash, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing, George Gervin, all of these guys are potential hall of famers, or already are and just because they dont have rings, doesnt mea they werent MVP or something.
They can still b great players (soz about the name calling)
The only time I ever got scared of the Bulls losing a series other than Detroit was when they played Indiana. You could defend Reggie but if someone can bomb away from 40 ft. like him, what could you do?
remember that shot he hit on the Bulls 2 win Game 4 in 1998? the way he was jumping & spinning, U would swear that he won the lottery with that reaction.
Right! He was caught up in the shot and the fact that he did it against MJ. It was a great shot, though. Moments like that are why basketball was great back then.
All I could think 2 myself was: REGGIE MILLER, U'VE JUST WON THE MEGA MILLIONS!!!!!!
LOL
2 be perfectly honest, that WAS a great series, them Pacers gave us a run 4 our money, hell, if MJ was never "suspended" that might've been us playing Indiana in 94 instead of the Knicks.
Actually, now Artest is getting set to ruin my Rockets. And H-town better buckle up because we're in for a hell of a ride.
PS-Thanks, Reggie, from a fan of the game since the days of Bird, Hakeem and Jordan. Reggie was always overshadowed by Jordan because Mike was winning world championships, but Reggie nearly derailed the Bulls in 98. And he had the audacity to step up against those arrogant Knicks and beat them when it mattered most.
"The Knicks killer" has always been a misleading title. While I acknowledge all of Reggie's accolades, he lost more to the Knicks than won. Considerably.
No way dude. Reggie was 3-3 against NY in the postseason, and it should have been 4-2 as the Pacers got robbed in 1994. Indiana was a better team in 94, but it's obvious Stern wanted New York, so the Pacers got two terrible calls in the final minute of Game Seven and lost. Patrick Ewing's "tip-in" was an offensive goaltend, and the "flagrant" on Reggie was just WRONG.
Reggie owned New York and always gave Michael a harder time than NY. I give NY 93 and 99 but the other four were Indiana.
I remember when he bowed to the crowd in Chicago. I watched all the Pacer games I could catch back then. Jordan was in his 1.5 year retirement at the time. They put .5 seconds on the clock and Toni Kukoc drained a 3 to win it for Chicago. Probably pissed off Pippen, the most sullen superstar in the history of the NBA? Still a great little moment for Reg, though obviously premature.
Dude is awsome in the clutch! Speaking of the R. Allen and the Celtics Miller was thinking about joining them at the beginning fo the yr, wish he would have, he would definitley be going to the finals. Back then every coach wanted Reggie with the ball if there is 1 sec on the clock. Today I would want Gilbert Arenas! Dude is clutch, but on a shitty team. Kobe and Lebron would be 2 and 3..........
JacShit4Press is right. Reggie never would have left Indiana though. The NBA died a little when he retired. I will never see another like Reggie Miller, G.O.A.T!
He should of came back and played with the Celtics...Reggie Miller was one of the last great players of his era, where rivalry was real rivalries. Knick vs. Pacers, Knicks vs. Bulls, Bulls vs. Pistons, Celtics vs. Lakers, Celtics vs. Pistons, Jordan vs. Miller, Bird vs. Magic. Holla if you know what I mean. Top 5 CLUTCH shooters of all time, Miller TIME! And i was born in Chicago! Respect.
JORDAN, MILLER, BARKLEY, YOUNG SHAQ, LITTLE IVERSON THAT CAN DUNK, CLYDE DREXLER, HAKEEM, BILL RUSSEL, EVEN TO REAL OLDIES WITH D WILKINS, DR J! BUT HEY!! DONT GIVE UP!! now we got LBJAMES, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul to go with kobe, davis, nash, tmac, garnett, duncan i really think that NBA can get some recovery =)
i mean cmon.. we still have good players like ginobli, parker, the detroit's first 5, you know..
Best post Ive seen in a while, I agree with you big time! Damn I miss the rivalries. I dont watch the NBA near as much anymore. Bring back the original Dream Team I and II and they would give the guys of today a gm at their age.
Such a rare breed those who actually prefer to play on the road then at home, Reggie Miller loved pressure, to be booed and to be the bad guy, he is missed! 2:33 Classic!!!
And all of you who got something against Reggie. You still dont get it? Reggie WANTED you to hate him!! Remember his book "I love being the enemy"? He became "superman" when everybody was cussing him... If you loved him he would not give that kind of performance, so thanks to YOU he was this good... Reggie says THANKS to all the Haters out there for helping out! Hahahahahahah
Life without water is tough, life without air is hard, life with one leg only is wobbly, Life without Reggie Miller, is impossible.... There will never be that entertaining basketball like that in the NBA ever anymore.
ah man, I hated Reggie Miller, me being the knick fan that I was. I couldn't stand the dude, but I must give him his props. He was good. But even thoough he took the air out of the knicks a bunch during certain game, the knicks were the ones laughing in the end in the playoffs. The Knicks were to the Pacers like the Bulls were to the Knicks (if that makes any sense).
My favorite moment was the second 3-pointer of his 8 point spree... Spike Lee yelling at him as he rose to shoot, and bam, 3 more points to tie it up, right in Spike's face...
what a fa for all those celebrations, so unclassy. i think he should have done that after he won the championship, ohh........wait........im being told that he never did.....yes it is true
reggie is one of the classiest players in the game! He played the game the way it should be played! so...wait...your comments sound absurd, ridiculous and silly. You are ignorant apparently!
out of all da great player through out the history, reggie is da only one i consider as hero, he's da reason that i love basketball, we love u reggie!!!!
shit man i remember this like it was yesterday!! 4:14 is money!! they should have sent Godzilla that night, he would have left less damage than reggie did
I was a Knick fan throughout the nineties, and I hated Reggie so much. It was like if the Knicks were up two points with less than twenty seconds left, they had no chance. Not even a little. He made every clutch shot. It was unbelievable.
Ray Allen is said to have the purest jumpshot ever in NBA. Reggies shot does not look any different. The only difference is that Reggie has maybe a weird backslash after the release and that Reggie shoots it a bit slower. Quick jumpshots result in inconsistency, it looks awesome.. but its not the most accurate way to make shots. Just look at Rays accuracy this year.
But what confuses ppl to think that its "unorthodox" is what he does with his shooting hand AFTER he releases the shot, kindoff backslashing it to the left side a bit. It has nothing to do with the shooting procedure.. every player does something with their hand right after they released the shot. Reggie does this....
You guys have no clue what you are talking about. Look at Reggies jumpshot in slo-mo and you will see that his shot created the TEXTBOOK JUMPER, Perfect form with the 90 degree angle, left hand on the perfect position, the ball over his head and elbows point straight forward, shoulders moving a bit up, the release is quick and with an amazing followthru with an great angle, perfect rotation on the ball and release of top of peak.
He did have an unorthodox form but I can't see how you can say it's disgusting. All that matters it the end result. I'd rather see a dude with poor form it every clutch three that comes his way than a dude with good form miss them.
NEVER forget that guy. How many games did he win with no time left? You knew he would get the ball, and you knew he was GOING to make the shot. And the "Spike Lee" game...
The funniest thing about the buzzer beater against the Bulls (25sec) when he did the bow to the crowd, is Pippen got revenge and did the same actions to the Pacers crowd.
@nypacers you suck

Best post Ive seen in a while, I agree with you big time! Damn I miss the rivalries. I dont watch the NBA near as much anymore. Bring back the original Dream Team I and II and they would give the guys of today a gm at their age.

HUM ....The 3 made by Reggie at 00:30 wasn't a winning basket, because it was followed by a 3 by Kukoc, as the Bulls beat the Pacers

The "Mr. Clutch" of the East. Can really surprise the crowd with his clutch plays.

LOL, knick killer, great line there!
Such a rare breed those who actually prefer to play on the road then at home, Reggie Miller loved pressure, to be booed and to be the bad guy, he is missed! 2:33 Classic!!!

Reggie Miller the Knick Killer. He was nice. I always respected and liked him.
therayman3 4 years ago
And all of you who got something against Reggie. You still dont get it? Reggie WANTED you to hate him!! Remember his book "I love being the enemy"? He became "superman" when everybody was cussing him... If you loved him he would not give that kind of performance, so thanks to YOU he was this good... Reggie says THANKS to all the Haters out there for helping out! Hahahahahahah

Life without water is tough, life without air is hard, life with one leg only is wobbly, Life without Reggie Miller, is impossible.... There will never be that entertaining basketball like that in the NBA ever anymore.

Can I quote you on that? It's such a beautiful statement.

ah man, I hated Reggie Miller, me being the knick fan that I was.

John Starks never came near the same level as Reggie.

reggie is one of the classiest players in the game! He played the game the way it should be played! so...wait...your comments sound absurd, ridiculous and silly. You are ignorant apparently!

I was a Knick fan throughout the nineties, and I hated Reggie so much. It was like if the Knicks were up two points with less than twenty seconds left, they had no chance. Not even a little. He made every clutch shot. It was unbelievable.
Assclown47 4 years ago
Reggie brought the pacers out of their hole
who knows if he stayed 1 more year they mightve won the finals. He was on of the greatest clutch shooters ever
vhfan87 4 years ago
i really liked reggie in my list he is the 3-pt king.lol it was tight wen he dribbled out to his safe area.the 3pt line.

Just look at Rays accuracy this year.
xxwhatevahxx 5 years ago
But what confuses ppl to think that its "unorthodox" is what he does with his shooting hand AFTER he releases the shot, kindoff backslashing it to the left side a bit. It has nothing to do with the shooting procedure.. every player does something with their hand right after they released the shot. Reggie does this....
xxwhatevahxx 5 years ago
You guys have no clue what you are talking about. Look at Reggies jumpshot in slo-mo and you will see that his shot created the TEXTBOOK JUMPER, Perfect form with the 90 degree angle, left hand on the perfect position, the ball over his head and elbows point straight forward, shoulders moving a bit up, the release is quick and with an amazing followthru with an great angle, perfect rotation on the ball and release of top of peak.
xxwhatevahxx 5 years ago
He did have an unorthodox form but I can't see how you can say it's disgusting. All that matters it the end result. I'd rather see a dude with poor form it every clutch three that comes his way than a dude with good form miss them.
ronin00013 5 years ago
NEVER forget that guy. How many games did he win with no time left? You knew he would get the ball, and you knew he was GOING to make the shot. And the "Spike Lee" game...
reflectivegoat 5 years ago
The funniest thing about the buzzer beater against the Bulls (25sec) when he did the bow to the crowd, is Pippen got revenge and did the same actions to the Pacers crowd.
