@SuchAnAnomally this was on in 2001... idk if they had the bunches then as they do now...but you are correct, there are a lot of them on the tele. though how many are actually supposed to be funny? the job was def funny. i think it suffered also some because it was only a 1/2 hour...but not like a sitcom...you know?
Lol, I wont judge you because thats your thoughts. But I believe Rescue Me has more meaning to the show. The show was made because of 9/11. Its about New Yorks Bravest. You have probably seen more "The Job" than rescue me. I recommend you watch the seasons. The shows amazing, funny, serious, and just shows that New Yorks Bravest is surviving after 9/11. This season 7 coming up is the final season. I have followed the show since 2004. and I have not been disapointed yet. Try it!
Hey Crisis Kings- Leary's show "The Job" was a hit with critics, and it had a decent fanbase for its first season. However, some jerk at ABC cancelled the series. Leary went off to do Rescue Me. Although Rescue Me is a hit, "the Job" was also Leary's conception, and the show's cancellation (despite it's high quality and terrific stories) must've hurt him. I know a lot of people who were saddened by the fact there was only one season.
@LatinMafia64 true to a degree...but the people u see here are not the only ones in both series. they have many, many actors that were in the job that are in rescue me. also, this show is almost exactly the same as rescue me without the 'high drama'. gags are the same, jokes are the same, many of the same actors. i think had it continued it would be suffering the same fate as rescue me is now.
What fate is that? Because As far as I know, the show has generally been well received. The viewership has gone down but that's largely due to the writers strike that halted the series for almost 2 years.
@LatinMafia64 maybe that's what killed it? maybe it's just me but it seems like rescue me just isn't the same...or not as much humor? i liked the mix and the 1st season was prolly the best for that...at the same time i also really like adam ferrara's needles in the last few years. just seems it is so focused on leary/tommy now and the storyline is not as fresh...just his relapses and ego...no? again it may just be me but i have heard others grumble about this also...thoughts?
While I do admit it got kinda stale in the 4th season seasons but for me it picked right back up in the 5th. & The 1st & 2nd seasons, I'm not even joking, there was sex in every episode. Also another factor that could be that it wasn't on a major network like Fox, CBS, NBC, TBS & others like those. Even HBO would be a suitable fit. The show is amazing & it's FX's loss because there aren't so many shows on that channel that are of the same caliber of Rescue Me
Based on this scene, it looks like half of the police department was laid off, went to the unemployment office, and found work as New York firefighters on 62 truck!
One of my Favorite Television Show....I need to buy the series again..I miss it

I bought the entire series on D.V.D. which was easy cause it got cancelled after one and a half seasons? Some of the episodes were very funny!

@Shoobee63 I'm one of those so saddened! I thought it was a nice alternative to Hill Street Blues but like you said "some-Jerk" did not!

I personally am glad this show got cancelled. If it went on longer, then the gold that is Rescue Me wouldn't have been born

@LatinMafia64 Sorry. As much as I like Rescue Me, it's a shadow of the denser, funnier, edgier (but less arty) The Job.
