Very nice. Got a Bonnie and 2 Commandos myself. In the process of builing a Triumph bobber now. Would love to have a real Triton or Vinton sitting alongside them. And as for the fucknut who thinks brit bikes are just laying everywhere in piles: I see more scrapped Harleys and Jap bikes than anything else.
I'm aware that the AMC gbox is stretched with a massive hub and single chain, but it shifts so nicely. I found the MK III shell is casted at least a mm thicker than the Atlas box and RGM sent me a shell 1mm thicker still, but it needs some final machining to work. Obviously, the shell and bearings can be made very solid with available parts. I guess the single run chain is the weak spot? It shifts so sweetly. I know nothing of the pre-unit Triumph box, please teach me.
I read "Little River" and got all excited as it's just up the road. It would appear they have these wee streams all over the world, and several are called Niagra. Er Little River...
Why do folks choose the Triumph gearbox over the AMC. I've not looked into it, but you must have and I'd appreciate any information or oppinion.
Also, what did you start with? I have a very nice '68 Atlas that I put Commando flattop pistons, a Megacycle 5600NR cam, Black Diamont valves, Commando pushrods, bulleted bronze guides, flowed head in, ect. It looks stock and is quite quick, but Triton/Manx has me intreagued. I would never do it to this bike. Why I ask with what did you start?
The sound track is by the eagles of death metal. And in reply to ímrotting", 90 % of this triton was put together in the 60's. Almost all original parts from then with some very rare parts. But hey, each to their own buddy. Thanks to others for kind words.
hello got to reply back to the so called biker that says british bikes are laying around like dog S~IT all over the yard i am a old brit biker and i can assure you they are not lying around in the uk ps lovley bike glad to see they are loved over there as well as here big HOSS ENGLAND
Oooooh! A Triton! Big F&*ing deal, they are laying all over like dogshit. Every wannabe and his brother is building one. Go on ebay, buy a featherbed frame, then pick up your credit-card and the Unity catalog and bolt it togeter, woopee.......... How about a roadburner that a wannabe cannot build? Like a nice Goldie, a 650ss, or a REAL Triton made without boutique bits, one with a real Manx frame, wheels etc......
This bike has british frame, british wheels, british fork, british motor, british carburettors, british gearbox..... I really don't see what's not "real" on that bike?!
Thanks mate. They are original Dunstall exhausts. They had baffles in them in the video but have been taken out and are now straight threw pipes...sound awesome !.
thanks for the clips I built one in 1971 wish I still had it

Neat, used to see these occasionally during the 70s, usually ridden by an intimidating character in a studded leather jacket.

The box on this bike is an AMC.
ovenboy 2 years ago
Converting to Commando clutch is an option with the triplex chain. The gbox mainshaft would need swapping out, that's all.
