I just watched northanger abbey and the script literally sucks. Great actors, costumes, locations. But a great script was needed. The beginning felt too fast like you're thrown into the plot. I saw little character development. Lack of relationship development b/w the couple due to the script. The script was so limited. The movie was too short. No problem w/ risque interpretation as long as one stays true to the story. What a disappointment.

I agree with you!! I hated all those fake orgasms Catherine had during her 'imaginations' Dont' believe me? Like the scene when she imagines she stands up in the bathtub naked infront of Mr. Tilney. And when she imagines that Mr. Tilney and this other dude are fighting for her, and she leans against a tree, and her expression completly screams "ORGASM!!!" Also, they focused so much on the "love story" rather than on the parody (which was supposed to be a 50/50 between it and the love)

I've seen these scenes in various trailers and at the beginnig I was unsure whether it belongs to a jane austen adaption or not. I think it does not fit at all

I though it was pretty good! I have read the book and there isn't much differences, even in the book the love development of tilney and catherine is not as we normally read in her other books and I actually like the dialog when he propose, which in the book doesn't exist and makes the ending some how not so romantic

I really liked Northanger Abbey! It may have strayed in pacing and tone a bit from the book but overall it was really great. Better than Persuasion at any rate.

I saw Persuasion and thought it was wonderful as is Northanger Abbey. These Jane Austen productions can be seen in the US on public televsion starting in January 2008. Go to the PBS website for more info.
