I can stretch my hand easily to those positions, but my problem is that i,m raising my fingers way too high after playing a note, i just cant help it :o
@Worzx Try an exercise called the Spider. Theres several versions but the one that would help you the most, you can find from a guy called gr8blues guitar. His name is Anthony Stouffer. I had the same problem you have. That exercise cured it. It makes each finger work independently of the other.
@Worzx I know an exercise that cured that problem for me and you can do it in a way that compliments to the one taught in this video. Just take the 1/2 full full step shape he's showing and instead of going horizontal (up & down the neck) go vertical from string to string. I start on the 6th string and go to 1rst then reverse. Now the essential detail is that while doing that you must ensure that EACH finger STAYS down no matter what on their frett until its turn to move.
@Prnrck95 It doesnt matter you develop all new skills anyway so its better to learn right handed it makes it easier to learn because of most examples and demonstrations are played right handed guitarists
incredible lesson! i've been searching for new exercises all over youtube and i found more from you alone than all the others combined over the last week. thanks so much!
Sorry it took so long, I now "Finally" have the exercise & dexterity handout available. Follow the link to the download under the (more info) drop-down in the Subscribe box to the Right--->
Just got to mention the octave + 3rds exercise. I ran over it for a few hours yesterday and noticed alot of improvement in how my fingers place themselves down on the fretboard, that is to say much more accurate placing. My ring finger needs the workout badly, it tends to be rather dumb about it's placement.
Hey which pedal is that behind you at the beginning?

a great stretch excercise is the pentatonic sweeping lick from dream theater's under a glass moon solo

A better one is the chord before the main riff in Allan Holdsworths road games. It goes like this:
Open High E String
6th fret, b string, index finger
7th fret, g string, middle finger
11th fret, d string, baby finger
open a string.
Try playing that one in time!
