I love how you made a strat style of uke. Very creative. Can you share how you went about it? Bought a childrens 1/2 scale strat copy, cut off two of strings off the head stock, and did you get a new head nut? Also, what about the string spacing?

I would like to make my own. Did you take it to a shop to do it?

  • that is so tight dude

    that ukulele

wow. Anyway i gotta make me one of those haha its great

  • Yeah, I really like the instrument, too. Playing slide on it is a blast.

  • what kind of ukulele is that?

  • I think is a custom ukulele he made

  • Very cool.

  • Palolo is a sea worm zygote. Samoans catch it once a year, usually a full moon night in October or November. It's a HUGE deal down here.

Great job Joey. We're definitely playing KISS this next year.

  • palolo in hawaiian and samoan are different....his palolo is pa is burst and lolo is fat....i think it has to do with a worm...

    palolo in hawaiian is clay

and yeah i live in palolo valley on oahu too.

that does not sound like an uk

  • can you tell me the names off the strings (im talking abou for example the B string or something)

  • beautifull!!

  • thts wasnt a guitar its an ukecaster ???

  • Very Good!

  • Great!

  • Anyway, what the hell is Palolo?! I was born and raised in Palolo Valley on Oahu, Hawaii and I have no idea what Palolo means. BUT there are certainly a lot of Samoans in Palolo Valley. Coincidence? This song sucks, by the way, except when he switches it up towards the end he sounds like the Great George Harrison.

  • I effin love this video!!

  • cool!

  • This is without a doubt the greatest electric slide ukulele blues in history! And brother, you left out the part about me rewiring the pickups and modifying the volume knob to fall off at inopportune times... :) Love ya man, great song, and I miss ya. Did y'all know he went on and played this song the next night and won an American Samoa ukulele playing championship with it?

  • oh great song, how did you cut that guitar up into a ukulele!

  • The instrument started life as a baby electric Stratocaster. They are widely available in pawn shops across the country. The guy who created it (Todd "Tavo" Mauldin from Reno, NV) simply cut off the headstock and smoothed it out with a sander or something. He also modified the nut and saddle. He even made a custom logo and varnished it on to the headstock. "The Ukeocaster" Gotta love it.

The Ukeocaster is the sole intellectual property of it's creator. ;P

  • Love that slide uke! Would you post some details on how you cut down the electric guitar?

    Thanks

  • Hey!!! I like this! :) Good job, bro. I'm going to be singing this all week. Sure am missing me some palolo! *lol*

    Homesick :(

  • Hi Karalina! Glad you enjoyed the song... it's a true story.

My first night to go palolo in 2004 was a BUST. The locals couldn't agree on the correct night. Was it going to be Tuesday or Wednesday? Nobody was sure. Not wanting to miss out, I went the first night. As I was sitting on the Fatumafuti beach after midnight waiting for the palolo to rise, I noticed a white pick-up truck that was driving up and down the coast. There were a bunch of guys in the back drinking Vailima and laughing.

  • After about 3 hours, people started leaving. So, I went for a quick swim and snorkel with my underwater torch and looked at all the pretty fish. As I was gahering my things to go home, I noticed the white truck drive by one more time. All the guys were passed out in the back. The driver leaned out of the window and forlornly called out to everyone left on the beach, "No palolo tonight!" It was a song opportunity too good to pass up.

  • pretty cooool!

  • Very nice great playing and super voice keep them coming
