  • I've seen a supercharged Cobra with 505 dyno proven HP and it spins leaving dark black marks behind it in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. It'll spin from a roll in 2nd and 3rd on boost. Not saying you don't have what you stated, but that car ought to be breaking loose a whole lot more than that with almost 600 hp.

    I'm answering this on my other account, but Yes, Slow ass Camaros. We are farrrr from stock, and don't care what stock does. Besides. I owned a stock s197, and didn't get murdered at all by stock ls1s. Would it lose? Yes, but not close to being murdered. This stang has murdered many, many camaros, cammed, blown. Has it been beaten? Yes. Believe me, Tommy can call many Camaros slow.

  • I just wanted to re-iterate that I originally built the car to AUTOCROSS and NOT drag race. Even with the built rear-end I can't get traction with M/T ET Streets, and pull 2.1-2.4 60's. I bought the "FAST" emblem at Finish Line Performance in Denver...just give them a call.

  • That Ls1 better be built because the compression ratios stock would cause Piston sprayage. Tommy murders LS1's, including my other friends Cammed/intake exhaust LS1 Camaro SS. A blown Ls1 would be impressive, however, it becomes a boost race. PSI rules, so it depends on the set up rookie. There are some Evo's and STI's that would murder this Stang AND your LSwhat's.

  • Your Ws6 had better be SERIOUSLY MODDED. This Stang has C6 Z06/Viper Kills on it. My favorite was when a C5 Z06 looks at him and waves him off, as if to say "Yeah right". Tommy humbled that guy immediately, LoLoL. The LSx attitude is one this car enjoys. There's always someone faster, but if you think you can handle this thing, you had better be very, very deep into the 10's at sea level.

  • Chevy's are better mod for mod. What do you expect with more displacement? However, the new Stangs with the 5.0's coming out will run with GM. 400hp/400tq.

  • We had a new Camaro SS at our track 5880ft above sea level. The guy couldn't get the thing into the 14's. The new Srt8 Challenger ran a 14.9 best. LS2 GTO's stock? = 14.4's and 5's, at best. I ran a 14.6 when I was stock out here.

  • .020 is not going to make a huge difference. you are talking inches. twenty thousands of an inch?. It isn't a stroker kit it is bored over .020" put to you like this a 302 bored .030" over is a 306. That is 4 cubic inches on a car wit a 4" bore.. The power can be made with a smaller engine. The supercharger is actually very efficient in higher altitudes and so is a turbo. Since the air is thinner it is easier for it to induct and compress. Which will equal less of a hp loss due to the higher ALT

  • Remind me never to move anywhere high in alltitude. That sucks not being able to feel all the power that engine could make at sea level. My car is lightened. I sold my 03 cobra. I have an 01 bullitt that weighs 3300 lbs. But it has no seats, no a/c, lightened wheels, ect. when i get more fuel and can rev it past 5800, i should be close to 585ish too. I couldnt stand being up in alltitude and not being able to feel all that power. Sorry for doubting you guys. I didnt know you were at alltitude.

  • At elevation you could make 420 rwhp and with the correction factor it will make something like 500+ at the rear wheels, but when you drive it on the street your only going to feel 420 rwhp unless you take your butt to sea level then you will feel 500+ at the wheels. that would explain a lot about this car. If he is at a high alltitude, corrected he may have made 585 but he is only feeling about 450ish due to the high alltitude. This would explain why it looked slow in the video.

Is he giving us corrected numbers or just what the dyno said. Mine made 520 uncorrected.

  • Yep, corrected hp numbers are inaccurate, I agree, but you ain't eating this car with 520 to the wheels. Bring that thing up here in the mile high. I've watched it eat plenty cammed Maros as well as Exhaust/Pullied/Ported Termies. It's got some very impressive kills under it's belt.

  • His mods say cobra crank and in the vid he says its .020 over. That gives him a 284. The other vid says its a stroker. Car sounds like its on lower boost in this video. And how do you not know what size pulley and the amount of boost your running. Build your own stuff man. cant stand rich kids that dont even know whats in there own car.   • I second that. I have a 01 bullit with a D1SC at 14 psi I made 520 rwhp. My car has stock gears and MT drag radials and 1st,2nd, and half of third spin like crazy. At 12 psi its just a little hard to believe that it made 585. Maybe corrected it made that but ive never seen a D1sc mod 4.6,heads,cam,and 12 psi make anywhere close to that power. It just isnt that fast in this video sorry.

  • after reading the specs of the car I don't see how you can make less than 550 rwhp, but then again I think there are a lot of ppl on here that don't even know what a .20 over oil coated piston means. For you hot rod illeterates, he doesn't even have a 4.6l anymore. You can buy 302 stroker kits and port polish your PI heads and get massive airflow and power gains. You people obviously don't know mustangs. Google Kenne bell's 2v. He proved that the 2v is ultimately more powerful than the 4v.

  • i believe its that much power because you basically have a stroker kit on it and its forged. My saleen charger puts out over 350 rwhp on the stock pulley and i have a stock bottom end. So i'm sure a procharger (which is far more capable) with a forged motor definately has the potential. Ask Kenne Bell, he puts out over 650 rwhp with his forged, bored, supercharged 2v SOHC.

  • In a boosted car, you can get 20 horses from simple shit like that. Changing a throttle body on an N/A car may get you 5 to 10 horses, in a boosted car, you can double it.

  • Hmmm...more info: The car weighs around 3800 pounds. I originally built the car to be more of a autocrosser than dragster, but I wanted to also win car shows and sound competitions. Yes it's heavy, and those dreams and goals were 9 years ago. Now it's just a heavy car, but I've won enough awards not to care anymore.

  • 3. My last 1/4 run was a 12.6 @ 108 on the old motor setup when it already had problems. The track is at 5830' and with the 90 degree temps it was 10,250 feet of density altitude that day. Do the math.

    1. The tranny was bought from Don Walsh over at D&D. He BUILT it and "spec'd" it. It's been in the car for 6 years now. I guess HE'S wrong about what he built, cuz HOSS knows more about transmissions than he does.

    2. The onramp run: Anyone from here EVER see the green traction control light? I do; through 3 gears and into 4th. At 6000' of altitude.

  • How am I full of crap? And you're WRONG: a ProCharger makes quite a bit MORE power than a Vortech; especially when you compare the lower-end blowers on a "New Edge" Mustang.

  • I would have though 585hp would have seemed faster than that. My car has way less hp than that but moves out faster than that. Dunno is it the driver, tranny, rearend or all the stereo that makes it seem so sluggish? It took it 8 seconds to get to 90 from a rolling start in 2nd gear..., I get there faster from a DEAD STOP (92mph+ in 7.8sec)

  • Well, that's what I was thinking too. I thought the Viper Tranny could handle some serious power, but yeah, A boosted car can EASILY get 20hp from a throttle body.

  • It's stroked to a higher displacement for one, It's heads are redone. He had his gauges put in this week. He'll know everything he needs to know soon. He was guessing around 15 pounds, and yes, the tuner is good.

  • Stroking ads tq not Hp on our Mod motors. Any gain of Hp from stroking is nominal. Ported heads would actually decrease your boost. There is no way he's making 585 from a stock pulley. Somebodies either lying to you or you're lying to us.

  • So wait, your saying that porting your heads will decrease your boost which it does. you know that when u port your heads, u get a better flow right? so guess where that drop in boost pressure is going wise guy. Your packin more air in to the cylinder aka makin more power!I really hope u dont think that under boost, ported heads make u lose power.

  • Of course you get better volumetric efficiency but he's not getting that much power from ported heads. His mods don't add up to is numbers.

  • You lost me on all that with Porting heads and losing boost,etc.... I don't remember at what point he did that in his building of his car, but He has ported his heads in the process of getting where he is now. Click on the "more info" in the vid comments to see what's been done to the car since "99". I'd like anybody who doubts the power to slap some money down on the table and come and run em. YOu'd have to be pushing some serious power to run this car, which some people have.

  • Boost is a measure of restriction in lbs/in. When you "Port" heads, better flowing exhaust or add a better flowing intake it increases the volumetric efficiency of the engine which reduces said measured boost. i.e. I have a 12lb pulley and on a stock system that's what it should make but, I have some work done that improves flow so I only measure 10lbs of boost. More power for less work is the way it's supposed to work. But those numbers are totally inflated.

  • Is your motor bored and stroked also? I know his is. Or do you have the stock bottom end?

    Anyway you want to put it, if you port and polish your heads, your going to gain sweet power gains, N/A or boosted.

  • I have a stock bottom end and make 440rwhp on a dynojet. Sweet gains, yes those kinda numbers, no.

  • 440 is excellent numbers on a 2valve, and with the stock bottom end, you have a great tuner. If you put a D1 on there, you'd be up in the 500's I bet. F1... you know,

  • Maybe you have a P1? He has a D1, you know, P1 is less than D1 and D1 is less than F1??? Could that be the confusion? He said he was running 390 to the wheels with his P1. He has the ported Intake and just about everything you could possibly do to squeak out more numbers

  • And BTW, stroking an engine increases total displacement, and port and polished heads promote smooth airflow. All aid in getting more air into the chamber. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING, ESP with boosted engines, so your point does not make sense.
