@Ghost3170 You need the sim card intact in it's big holder card. Then, you slide it up the bottom of the phone where there is a small gap. Sim installed, have fun!
@senhuan I'm not watching it now; I posted that 8 months ago. The point is that highlighting how crap the narration is might stop other people from watching the video themselves.
Although I do love the predictable knee-jerk reaction - "don't watch it if you don't like it!" It's true - if this was a television series, I would not have tuned in for the next episode.
I loved my startac. It cost me like 200 bucks back in 2001, I had to sign a contact with sprint. This was my first sprint phone ever. I went threw 2 of them. I lost one in Vegas, damn GF left it in the car....
@SentOWNSU That's not true at all. I owned a dual band startac in high school, and am now using it again while my blackberry is being repaired. It sends and receives txts just fine. Pain in the ass to type, but it still works after 9 years.
This Was My 2nd Phone I Owned Back In The Days. It Is Very Interesting How A Long Way Cell Phones Have Come. Today We Have The apple iphone Which I Now Own and Apple Is Changing The Way We Use Mobile Phones.
On thing I really liked about this phone when I had it back in the days. 2000-2001 was the sound. Must have been the shape of the ear part of the phone or something, but it sounded loud and clear. I have not found a phone these days that matches the sound quality of this phone. One could actually hear the other person on the line as though you were talking to them with a land line home phone.
Motorola also made a phone called the V3620. It was basically a StarTAC 8600, except the display was on the upper part instead of on the lower part above the keypad.
Motorola also made a series of phones called the TimePort. Most models of the TimePort were basically renamed versions of the GSM/CDMA StarTAC. The TimePort P8767 was the coolest - it had a Blue/Green/Orange OLED display!
Ah, the StarTAC. A true turning point in cell phones.
The great thing is, the newer GSM 1800 and CDMA StarTACs can still be used today! It's too bad Motorola never made a GSM or CDMA StarTAC with an LED screen. Or any GSM/CDMA phone with an LED screen, for that matter...
It's unfortunately true - the antennae do break off easily. I don't think it would really do any good today, though - cell service so plentiful you can get good service anywhere!
this phone was actually very advanced even by todays standards. there was a bunch of accesories you could get like a desktop charger to charge a spare battery, and you could actually run the phone off the wall without a battery attached.
God, I remember this... I had it about 8-10 years ago. The only problem at the time that I found with it was that just about every month, I'd be going to Verizon to get a new antennae.

I've had a StarTac 70 in 1998 and it was crap.
Poor built quality and weak sound.
But it looked very cool and I still like it!
