This issue isn't going to be solved. The only thing we "little people" can do is to realize that inflation is going to continue to eat away our money until it's worthless. If you would have bought Silver last week you would have already made money and thus, hedged against inflation.
If you can't afford pre-1965 (90% pure) junk silver coins then, buy as much food as you can and keep buying it now! Food is going to sky-rocket as the Dollar continues to collapse. It's only going to get worse.
"The President has said in recent interviews that his vote against raising the debt ceiling was a political vote by a novice Senator." Seems to further support Paul's conclusion to me. If he couldn't handle the political pressure as a Senator, how can we trust Obama to be acting in our best interests now?
If the government wants to continue to ignore the overwhelming need in America for more productive JOBS that produce more capital goods and consumer goods which results in increased tax revenues then any request to allow the government to continue to substitute JOBS with DEBT should be ignored!
How many Americans agree - that sooner rather than later, our government is going to have to focus on creating an environment that encourages manufacturing?
@johnlacombe no I'm more serious about staying alive I have no problem cutting every thing else to the bone just not military spending at a time where Russia and china are expending there military this is not the time to cut ours
Maybe Rand should buy american debt instead of returning the money, it would be the equivalent of paying back the debt and he would be sure that the money goes for that.
Releasing oil reserves won't bring down gas prices. Prices are determined by long term production. If you really want the price of gas to come down, then you have to realize three key reasons for its rise. The wars in the middle east are obvious enough, President Obama's moratorium on oil drilling and exploration, and the Fed's continued devaluation of our dollar are the reasons why gas is so expensive at a time where domestic demand is low.
CNN is always carrying the water for this administration. She defends the President's past vote on not raising the debt ceiling as "the vote of a novice Senator." Well, that certainly didn't stop CNN and the rest of the leftist press from cheerleading for him to run for President. Give me a break. CNN is full of a bunch of economic novices. These statist zombies in the press don't understand that there is going to be a dollar crisis/bond market implosion soon if the debt continues to pile up.
Rand Paul's proposed cut to the military budget (making up 20% of the federal budget): a measely 6.5%: randpaul2010(.)com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Overview-500-billion-cuts-2.pdf
@therealaj123 Well, how much are the Democrats proposing cutting military spending. I have sit back and wathced the new adminsitration increase military spending over the last two years. Rand Paul would like to cut more than that, but he's got to get Republican votes. He would like to cut government more than he proposed, but he's got to get Democrat votes. His budget is the only one that ends the deficits in 5 years. The other plans aren't serious.
@therealaj123 Because I have read the same economists and philosophers that he has. I know excatly where he is coming from. He thinks most of what the central government is doing is unconstitutional. He is just like his father. He is an adherent of Austrian free market economics.
Oh yes Mister Paul is so wrong, here is Obama trying to spend us out of debt, by creating more debt and mean old Rand Paul actually wants to stop that WHOA!!! Who ever heard of saving money, thats just craziness
Its genius, the government needs to us to prosperity and stability!!!
Now where is my credit card, got to start spending my way to prosperity
@joepeeler34 "Because I have read the same economists and philosophers that he has." So? "I know excatly where he is coming from." If you think that a person reading certain books and playing the public role of being an advocate for an ideology laid out in those books is enough for you to tell what that person actually wants, you are a hardcore FOOL. Oh yeah, btw: Austrian economics are bunk.
If you were to expand the philosophy of CNN, the only thing you hear is that there is no other compromise possible but to raise taxes. How about understanding who we owe this "debt" to in the first place. Illegitimate Bankers. Namely the Federal Reserve.I say Fuck them. Really, there is no excuse good enough to make up for the fact that we are born into economic bondage. That is EXACTLY why we broke away from Europe in the first place. The main law of America is to protect against this. RP2012!!
@crinoid1919 Not hardly. The wealthiest 1% bring home 19.6% of all income in America and pay over 40% of all taxes. The wealthiest 5% pay 60% of all taxes in the country.
@boredomstryks I think this misses the point though. We should be transitioning away from prodcution taxes like income taxes and towards user fees and consumption taxes. The latter will rid us of exemptions and the class warfare rhetoric that income taxes spawn. We shouldn't have an income tax at all. That's how we have to approach it. We concede to much when we point out that the wealthy pay confiscatory taxes. It's theft and it's stupid to punish many of our most productive citizens.
All I hear is: If you don't raise your teenagers credit card limit, how will they ever get out of debt? This corporate media insults the American people. I took math class, you cannot pay off debt with more debt when you have interest rates at ZERO! In fifty years young boys and girls will learn about the American Ministry of Propaganda (the FCC) and realize how stupid their grandparents were.
