what are your cages that you use to breed with and on your video " 50 + snake colletion" or what ever they are you keeo zues in one they ar elike polished wood.. where did you get those
Do you keep your heater on ALL the time 24/7? I was wanting to do this, but I'm kind of worried that it would be some type of fire hazard or something? Thanks.
man, i need to build a rack. right now i have 18 tubs just stacked on top of each other. haha. sucks when i need to put a male with a girl all the way at the bottom of the stack. lol
Hey I want to try breeding corn snakes In about a year, After my 1st one grows up a bit. But I was wondering if i made a rack with say five shelves and and compleatly closed in back. would one giant long heat mat attached to the back of the rack be ok to heat it. and would you recomend putting on a plexi glass door with vets of course for to help with humidity and keeping in heat??? thx nice vid by the way :)
Well, not that I know of,but that's why they make humidifiers.Either way, sounds like you have it covered with spraying and no bad sheds for 2yrs,so that's commendable!Just a general comment for those that do create a dry environment and do not humidify, literally can dry them out!
Can you or anyone tell me where you got the melamine or where I can get it and how much is it per sheet? I can't find it any where online. Help please!! Haha.
awsome rack systems. im building one for my baby bp just like those. im gonaa use a 2ft tub to start, a 10-20 gal heating pad on one side, a thermostat, aspen or eco earth as a substrate, 2 hides and a water dish.
also, what kind of thermostat would you reccomend? Zoomed reptitemp 500R? Helix?
with the way he has his set up, it shouldn't sag as much. if he were pulling the tubs sideways there would be way more sagging. people often see melamine as the best compromise between cost, appearance and function.
lmao right on man i don't think i've ment anyone else who smokes primtimes as a regular instead of an ocasinal thing haha. pinacloata tastes to damn good ;P
How are the temps and snakes doing considering your using side heat with the melamine rack? Because I think most racks are belly heat. I am building my rack and using the heat tape along the side saves alot of money with the heat tape compared to each individual rack being heated with belly heat.
talk to me about the heat tap dude, were did you get it? how much does it cost? how did you wire it?...i need to figure out how im going to heat the 6 stack rack my brother and i built for our pythons.
you will have to ask reptile people in your area. It comes in a few sizes including 3 inch and 11 inch. I think I paid 6$ a foot for the 11 inch. It is very low wattage and can be controlled with a dimmer or a thermostat. Be careful if using a dimmer to check temps often and should be backed up with a thermostat or rheostat. I am in canada and I asked people on the canadian forums till I found a supplier in my area who cut and wired it all for me ! Hope that helps CAT
THat's pretty ingenious buddy. I've got a plan for a 4' H by 6' L by 2 1/2 D Oak plywood cage I'm gonna build. Hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the year. I'll let ya know.
i wish i wasnt so lazy! we are going to slowly buy those EXTREMLY EXPENSIVE vision cages! thats the only way we can fit those large cages that many of our reptile need! they need upgrades badly...soon they will have plenty of room
These snakes have some things in common: they are constrictors, killing their prey by wrapping around it and suffocating it, and they are considered primitive snakes with two lungs (most snakes only have one) and remnants of hind legs and pelvic bones. But they have differences, too. Pythons have one more bone in their heads than boas do and some additional teeth.
Pythons are found in the Old World (Africa, Asia, Australia) while boas live in both the Old World and the New World (North, Central, and South America). One of the biggest differences is that pythons lay eggs while boas give birth to live young. Also, pythons have more pronounced heat pits along the labial ridge. Then there are the behavioral differences. As a rule of thumb boas tend to be more docile and calm down very quickly after bing born. Pythons tend to be more aggressive and
tend to be picky eaters. Also, I just don't fins pythons to be aesthetically pleasing. Whereas I find boas to be very beautiful. There's my two cents.

Becareful with those heaters, they throw out a dry heat that can be bad news to an animal that needs humidity! Cool setup though
WillArtInc 2 years ago
@WillArtInc thanks
but is there really anything that throws out wet heat?
I spray often and keep the enclosures humid when needed. Have not had a bad shed in the snake room since 2008

Why melamine? That stuff sags horribly. I see a lot of people using it, so just curious. Is it because of the look?

You could use tubs half the size for Adult ball pythons.
