  • Had a great time there last weekend, we did well in our race. Great to see the people enjoying themselves. Fantastic race site and the conditions were perfect this year.

  • your a whiney hippy. go live in the woods.

  • Get back to me after you grow up a little.

  • This is a very intelligent post. Everyone here has valid comments. At first sight of this video, I was prepared to read a blood bath, mud slinging sort of post. As a race fan, I must say... If it WERE in my backyard, I think I can put up with the event for 3 days, for the amount of money that the crowd pumps into Patchogue... But it's NOT me having to deal with it. We are here again this year... Be safe, and EVERYONE have a great weekend!!! God Bless!!!!

  • Be safe.

  • It's a great event I attended both years and hope they have it again!!Live & let live!peace

  • Yes, live and let live, let me drive down my street and get to my house.

  • Patchogue is a tough spot all year!Like Archie Bunkers Hood!1 or 2 events all year poor guy move east!Did we kill the clams too!LOL

  • I heard from one of the racers that this was the worst race they participated in due to the lack of organization.

  • Very sad that two races lost their lives. It is also a shame you really have no clue as to the amount of time and money your "promoter" put into an event that gave significant benefit to your local economy. I would wager that the money he LOST was far more than the taxes you will pay over the next few years. Some times you have to look beyound yourself and consider the benefit to all in your community.

  • It is clear to me that you have no idea about the stress the causes many residents. Would you like this event in your neighborhood? If the promoters are loosing so much money, why would they do it? That doesn't make sense.

  • Actually, I have more insight than you. I have Two OPA events in my yard and St Clair is the biggest event of this type in the Country. Promoters like yours do it for the betterment of the community. The ecomonic impact is significant and desparately needed today. They do it becasue they are not selfish like you, they take person and financial liability to provide your community entertainment and finanical gain. Ask yourself what you have done to better your community. Not much? I thought so.

  • They are not doing any of this for altruistic reasons...It is ALL about money.

  • It doesn't surprise me that you would think no one would do anything for thier community without a financial reward. It is clear you only seek attention and are extremely self centered. Thank god there are people that help their communities and are productive members of society like your event promoter, The Good Fellows, Kawnis, and Church groups

  • I don't know you, and you certainly don't know me. Now, if I asked you how does this event help my community you would probably tell me about how much money was spent in the village by visitors, but I'm sooo glad this isn't about the money. Civic and service groups that you mention are wonderful, at least we can agree on that.

  • hey does any1 know y we arn't having a race in TN now??

  • Take away all the stupid subtitles and that legal document that no one can read at the beginning and this is a pretty good video. Thanks Bud

  • I believe the positives far outweigh the negatives. Hundreds of thousands of dollars poured into the local economy in an economic time that it is much needed. Local bars, restaurants, deli's, etc were beneficiaries of this event. All proceeds from this event were also donated to Shore front park. Our team specifically donated $2000 to the Parks department in Patchohogue. When you point out the negatives, a balanced report may want to include the positives as well.

  • Nice of you to make a donation, thanks. With all due respect, I think your estimate of pouring "hundreds of thousands" of dollar in to the economy is a bit inflated. Let's also keep in mind that you have an agenda. You do not want to have to find an alternate venue if this one is not offered to you next year. Your hotels were not in Patchogue. Did you get all your fuel in Patchogue? For the teams this event is about getting the rush from racing and having a chance at winning the prize $.

  • I give you credit for admitting there are negatives.

  • Of course there are negatives, we would prefer everyone welcome us and nobody is inconvenienced. The fact of the matter is this is a logistical impossibility. This is why we try to give back as much as we can

  • Scotty, that's understandable. I would prefer to not be inconvenienced and not have the tax dollars of many be spent for the amusement of few. The very unfortunate accident is a burden on all county tax payers.

  • I can understand your feelings and mine may be the same in your situation. Our race team has no control over where the sanctioning bodies set up races. If it makes you guys feel any better, I would like to invite you(sugageek and stoopidvile) as my guest for dinner in the Miss GEICO tent if we return next year. The least I could do is feed you guys lobster and steak for your inconvenience.

  • Scotty, you have the makings of a Washington lobbyist, and you must know that a representative from team Miss G (maybe you?) attended the village board meeting asking to come back next year. You say you have no control, yet you (your team) appear to have influence in the planning.

Your dinner invitation, as nice as it sounds, would have to include all of the neighborhood. If the event could run without entirely shutting down the normal activity in the hood I wouldn't have much to object to.

  • I do not have the #'s, but most places we race provide us with an economic impact study and the #'s are surprising. If you saw the # of people on Main St Friday night (at least 10,000) and they averaged spending 10bucks, thats 100k right there. I know I spent $400 on dinner and drinks myself. As far as my agenda, as a race team, it doesn't matter where we race. There are plenty of sites across the Country and venues are turned down all the time because we have too many race sites already

  • Scotty, I didn't attend the event on Main, but I was detoured to the north of main on my way home, and at that time the parking lots I saw were not full (a 1166 seat theater fills them). The village pop is 12,000. You can see from the comments many folks enjoy free things. Maybe on the average people spend $10, that is a projection, not reality. I did hear the stores were busy, numbers were not divulged. I say if you have other venues why not spread the wealth? Come back in a few years.

  • Typical Politician. So does this mean I will see a tax brake this year? HA HA.

  • It is interesting, that when there is an event and people in the neighborhood complain when their lawns are being driven on and what not that the people working for the village say this like you live near a "park you have to put up with it". WE PAY THE SAME TAX RATE AS EVERYONE ELSE IN THE VILLAGE. Maybe we should get a tax rebate for each event. Good idea Richm001!!!

  • Whaaaaaa...then move. Overall Patchogue is an up and coming village and a becoming a great place to live. It isn't like Patchogue is the first place to hold an event taht had some problems. There are plenty of boring run down villages and towns on Long island if you want Patchogue to be what it was about 10 years ago.

  • The house was for sale and NOBODY wants to live hear! Who wants to spend $450,000 For a house and have $12,000 in taxes When You could spend the same in lets say wading river with $5,000 A year in taxes,And not waking up in the middle of the knight by intoxicated people urinating on your lawn.

  • Would you like to be kept from enjoying your home? In fact some people were prevented from getting to their homes.

  • You are such a coward disguising your voice...if you have a problem with the event, act like a man instead of a coward and say something publically.

  • Obviously you haven't read the description. As far as your challenge of "acting like a man" you can go first and use your active youtube account to comment, instead of this one with no videos or info.

  • you are a coward and thats all the time I have for you.

  • Name calling is really productive and adds to the discussion.... NOT!

  • Making a good video requires some skill and equipment, it is understandable to me that you only have this account. BTW do you read minds or something?

  • Patchogue a great place to live if you're a renter or a non-taxpayer. You won't see too many residents because we are at work to pay our $2,300 a month mortgage,12,000 dollar a year tax bill,$300.00 a month electric bills $3,500 a year heating bill + grocery, insurance and home maintenance.Events at the park cost us more money and aggravation.Laws are not enforced. There is also the other village ammenities here that cost us more money.SO DO you think that boat race was free For the home owners?

  • Boo Hoo, I'm going to have to assume that the village was incorporated before you moved into. It's like people who move onto Peconic Ave. in Medford and then cry about the junkyards. I see your point but I don't like you defense.

  • Apples and oranges.

  • It is interesting to me that a senior citizen far removed from this situation "gets the point" of this report and you apparently don't. Do you happen to live in the village?

  • Why would you jump to the conclusion that a senior citizen with a wealth of life experience is disgruntled? A person you do not even know? Chillax a little. I provided a fair and balanced view of this event and focused on an aspect unnoticed by most, and you stopped by with unproductive mean spirited commentary. The world would be a little boring if everyone had the same opinion.

  • How about we cancell the Olympics, the World Series and all U.S. Opens? They are held in different cities each year. We would not want anybody to be inconvienenced living nearby any of these events. Get It!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In the past decade or more NYC has been turned down to host the Olympics because the venue would be impossible to navigate. Major cities would love to host 4 the revenue it would bring in. World series is in a stadium meant for such an event. Why would that be a problem? You haven't answered the question, do you live in the village? It is big enough 4 your safety. People came from all over to watch the races- even people who knew nothing about them- it was just something to do that was free.

  • it would be great if all contests to see who is the "king of the crap pile" were canceled especially ones that don't take the rights of all that they affect into count. If 10,000 people would enjoy you're death should we kill you?

  • Oh, my gosh, cancel sporting events and the manly man contests? The world might come to an end! LOL

  • That number is creeping up!

  • Thanks again.

  • Nice boats and an exciting time, except for the 2 in the boat that flipped (very sad and unfortunate)...but you deliver a very informative report of all the rule-bending? for a commercial event where the residents are totally inconvenienced. And to think spectators were being charged $50 each to sit in the stands at the public park at Mascot Dock. unreal! Thanks..

  • Exactly!!!

  • Only residents who choose to enter the pit area were charged. All other seating was free.

  • True people who wanted to see the "finish line", paid $50 but it is still a promoter profiting from the use of a public park that is paid for and maintained with tax dollars. "Get" it now?

  • Do you have any Idea how many millions of dollars in boats it took to give you that FREE show. I bet you don't have a problem with that. Did you enjoy it?Or did you just go to see how many things you can complain about! "Get it now"

  • Sorry you still don't get it, and I just don't know how else to put it. It doesn't matter how many millions of dollars worth of boats somebody trailered across the country. If you are a tax payer in the village you should be outraged. All you care about is your own day of fun, and you don't care who is inconvenienced, and that is selfish.

  • That is good news, thank you

  • It brought smiles on every home town person! I know the bands the people the vendors all did well! People came by land or sea to watch air shows & boat race! It's great Long Island has events like this but downers want it stopped??? These are the same people who's dog craps on your lawn or peep around and dial on his own friends!!Don't be a player hater the new generation knows how the system works!Get a hobby of your own nobodys breaking any laws Mr Downer peace out!

  • My my, you have a lot to say. You are like the guy that was walking the dog that craps on my lawn. Inconsiderate.

  • Looks like you've got trouble right there in Patchogue village. From your description, it doesn't sound ethical nor legal. Great video!

  • Thank you Dame Edith, one might say something is putrid in Patchogue.

  • Sad for the 2 men who didnt make it but looked like a great time for those who survived....

    Eugene

  • Sad for there families. Their biggest nightmare came true.

  • next time,flatten tires

  • Thanks, for the suggestion... stress like this can bring out the worst in people.

  • Good idea.

  • Now complain to the local city council or whatever authority, about getting everything cleaned up.If not, send a tape to your local TV station, and mention how small people are getting trampled on.

  • Small grey people?

  • LOL... but seriously, I agree with Blargaldalien.

  • Small VOTING ,TAXPAYING , people.

  • That would make sense, but the village officials are the ones who let it happen and they just don't like the taste of crow.

  • Thanks!

  • Unbelievable, what goes on behind the scenes.

  • True, in discussing, this people generally have a difference perspective but most are empathetic.

  • I don't think I'd want to live on that street and put up with that traffic and what ever noise there was.

  • Nice work filming and editing the race sequence.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • Obviously, you do not live and pay taxes in this village, so I'm really not interested in your opinion.

  • I am in total agreement. This event should not be here. Dumb move on P-towns part. Racing boats, oh brother.

  • Thanks for commenting. The park looks terrible from the grass being trampled and driven on.
