This all really hits home. How far out is it; that someone who was a teen in the 1970's and who was raised in the Ozarks would find a connection between the lines with The Pentecostal beliefs I hold so sacred and the Rock and Soul music I so love. With God all things are possible!
Wow, I came here looking for Bryan's old "Holly Rollin'" track but couldn't find it. Instead however, I was REALLY happy to see Bryan himself and what a joyful, sanguine character he has. It's amazing that such a humble, simple guy has such a unique, velvety and yet also booming voice. I remember growing up with his music...what an impact on me!
Sweet Comfort Band and Bryan Duncan were my all time favorites growing up. Still love Bryan's voice, he's an incredibly annointed and talented singer.
Bryan's son was a guitar student of mine for several years, and he was a customer at our music store in Riverside for a long time, and that is how I got to know Bryan. There is no other entertainer like him, Christian or not. God Bless you bro!
i was at this show with my 10 yr old son, we were at the midnight performance, what a great show that was. our seats were perfect, the entire night was a blast.
my son is 26 now and i'm still listening to Bryan, still thinking he is the best! thanks so much to whoever posted it :o)
Bryan, while we great with jazz influenced Christian songs, really kicks when he goes down the rock route--I wish he took said musical path more often.
Hey Brian! Share some more videos of songs from this album and some of the early stuff. I LOVED when you got together with the Tower of Power horns. What a great sound. Used to make me laugh and cry as the praises went up. I learned a LOT with you, too. I used to LIVE the words, it was weird. It could be painful at times, but it was all a wonderful time. So many sweet memories. Love yous!! Still pray for you. :>)
I remember this concert at Knott's. My husband and I went. It was great. Loved him with Sweet Comfort Band. Amazing talent. Just beautiful. We named our daughter Valerie after their SCB song.
I heard he had the opportunity to front for Toto when the original vocalist left for a while but Bryan turned it down and continued with Christian music. Great for Christian music but it must have been a hard decision wondering how well he would have done in the secular sceen. What an amazing voice. Even more important, what a truly nice guy & brother in the Lord. Love that guy!
Yeah interestingly "Toto's" Drummer Jeff Porcaro played on a few of Bryan's CD's. Sadly Jeff passed away shortly after his work with Bryan. He suffered an allergic reaction due to a pesticide he was using in his garden. I know a few people in the music Biz that wonder why Bryan hasn't done more mainstream. He did hit top 100 though and gained VH1 airplay with "Love Takes Time". His latest CD is great if you don't have "Still Dancin'". Classic Bryan with some Funk!
@wildkev1010 Then maybe you don't know, but you are living across from one of the finest voices that has graced this earth. Your neighbor, Bryan, has talent above measure and has chosen to give that talent to God, when he could have done secular music and maybe been even more rich and famous than he is. You should be proud to have him as a neighbor. God Bless!
Sweet Comfort was the first band I saw in Calvary Chapel Riverside, CA. and said, I didn't know you could do that in church? :) They even had horns then. From that moment I was hooked and wnet to as many of their concerts as possible, even their final one at RCC. I really miss them and wish they would do a revival concert!!!

a voice so unique to Bryan and only him , i just got saved and heard his committed album , i hated allot of that biblebelt soft gospel stuff , coming out of listening to joy division and the pistols , i found it hard to be satisfied , but Bryans tunes along with the likes of Mylon , it had to be the anointing it was moving , great gospel rock , bless ya Bryan...
The keyboardist name is Star Parodi, at least at the time she was playing for Bryan and went on to play for Arsenio Hall. The footage before the song has nothing to do with this performance. This concert video was called "Saturday in the Park" and was shot somewhere in Northern California. And believe it or not, in one of the songs I and my friend are in a shot, albeit our backs, but nontheless we were there! : )
On a trivia note, the keyboardist in this video is "Star" (can't remember her last name) who after playing w/ B.D. went on the be the Keys player in The Arsenio Hall Show from 1989 to 1994.
This video was also avail. on VHS which included several songs. It was filmed in a park in California, and was un-advertised. Only a handfull of people showed up. I bet the ones that did felt very lucky!
Check out Bryan and the Neo Soul Band for the latest!
Bryan Duncan is the most under rated Singer at any level whether christian, rockor whatever this man is a talent. He has the best ever Christmas CD Jesus is Christmas.
@courtot1 Actually, it's "Christmas Is Jesus" and it is great. Wonderful of you to recommend it. I play it every year during December and sometimes even in the summer time.

I saw him in concert in the 80's in a much smaller venue. He played the piano and it was only him. It was great. He is so high energy.
bananaman411 4 years ago
I saw him about the same time. He played a keyboard and had recorded background music. He called it his "Econo Band."

WOW his voice is great, as always. but his shirt is louder then the song!..lol. gotta love the 80's.
