  • The shortest songs are normally the most beautiful

    (with the odd exception ofcourse)

I wish this was a little bit longer :(

  • THIS SONG ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1 person cant keep a beat so they rnt steady as a beating drum

  • I'll honestly don't think I'll ever understand how someone could dislike this. This music is pure GOLD. This should be the anthem for the WORLD!

  • Pocahontas doesn't need a crown or a pretty dress to be a princess, she just IS.

  • @yanfeb15 So she's the Chuck Norris of the Disney Princess selection you are saying?

  • @BackgroundSpace ....chuck norris sucks

  • @yanfeb15 No one sucks better than Chuck Norris.

  • @Meansofviewing ...agreed

  • MEA ALL DAY! I LOVE THIS SONG

  • polish lirycs

    /watch?v=X5VMcya994w

    (HD)

  • All in favor of booting Alice out of Princess of Heart position in Kingdom Hearts and replacing her with a REAL princess (Pocahontas), say "aye"!

  • @TayuyaSora Aye!

  • @TayuyaSora ...aye!

  • @TayuyaSora Aye!

  • I think Pocahontas was so much smarter than any other Disney princess. She had an outlook on life that they didn't have. It's because of her deep connection with the earth.

  • Pocahontas and Mulan are not princesses.. but they are two of my favorite disney characters, they should be counted as princesses.

  • @babybop258 Pocahontas was a princess! She was the daughter of the chief, the American Indian equivalent for a King!

  • @babybop258 Wasn't Mulan almost a princess-type person in the second movie?

  • @lemonice2700 Kinda I guess she was the Great Warrior of China.

  • i love native americans :) not only am i part native american, but i just love there music and style of what they wear and there dances :)

  • Pocahontas is one my favorite moives when i was a little girl,.,,, this moive was my childhood.<333333333333

  • I love Pocahontas <3

She is my absolute favourite Disney princess!!!!

  • these songs are so moving. it's like music for your soul. amazing.

  • No dislikes. Beautiful.

  • OMG its like its singing to my soul i feel a cennection with this like love or peace...

  • This is such an amazing and moving song!

  • Top 3 of the best Disney music

  • @LookItsColette I don't know Mulan is deffinately powerful and strong as well as beautiful. i'm torn between the two.

  • @alucard11235

    Mulan isn't a princess

  • @Ipodmoeilijk true but she is considered a "Disney Princess." but she is my favorite female heroine of all the disney movies.

  • @alucard11235

    Idd

  • Best. Disney. Song. Ever.

  • There is a reason there are no dislikes for this song :)

  • I wish settlers weren't stupid and decided to kill off such an amazing race of people

  • @ILUVFFANDKH The initial settlers (Pilgrims) actually lived in harmony with the Native Americans. It wasn't until more came over that they began to kill them off.

  • @wereallmadaroundhere Yea, they killed them off eventually, that's what's sad

  • @ILUVFFANDKH omg i so agree with u!! I'm also part native american! :D

  • i think that in the second pocahontas they should have kept her together with john smith, even though it's not what really happened in history, they should have kept the 2 together<3

  • @dabaum09 They shouldn't have made a second one period XD I pretend it doesn't exist...

  • @Pyroblazer Not to rain on your parade, but the sequel is actually partially historically accurate. Pocahontas did go to England in the final years of her life, she did marry John Rolfe, and had a son with him. She and John Smith only remained close friends in her final years.

  • @VanitasxAura I am fully aware of that, however the sequal sucked because she was all "Oh yah I'm over u now after being with this guy a week <3"

  • @Pyroblazer If even that. It seemed more like two days. I thought the sequel was okay, but The Lion King II will probably be the best Disney sequel because it stays the truest to the original.

  • @VanitasxAura I agree with ya brotha.

  • @VanitasxAura You are correct.

  • i've just been to disneyland, & i hated how there was literally NO mulan/pocahontas themed gifts, or anything in the parade. They're my two fav disney princesses.

  • @totalgeek15 so true i went this year and there was nothing with them on it and no shows with them either but i did see fantasmic and pocahntas had a feature in that i freaked out like i was a five year old :)

  • @totalgeek15 me too. I love Pocahontas, but it's all about money. She doesn't sell. most kids will choose the other princesses first, cuz this movie wasn't as successful

  • @jname96 Aaw! How can that be, Pocahontas was the first Disney filmwith humans that made me cry- although back than I actually couldn't appreciate that^^ Now I still consider it as one of the best, because it's serious. And it is accepting that the new American settlers kinda screwed it(sorry for not summing up "it") and America's history isn't all that glorious and shiny^^

  • @jname96 I'm afraid I must agree. I personally love Mulan and Pocahontas more than the other female Disney characters. Pocahontas is totally my favorite, but then, I'm Native American.

  • @totalgeek15 After the movie came out there was quite a bit of merchandise and the 'character' was regularly seen but now it's hard to fine ANYTHING with Pocahontas...which is unfortunate because my daughter loves this movie. I sort of wish I has listened to my grandparents and kept all the dolls I had in their packages or at least kept them in better condition.

  • @totalgeek15 They're also the only two princesses who prevented or stopped a real war with real humans on both sides (instead of fantasy creatures). Mulan even FOUGHT in the war. I suppose we must conclude that shiny dresses are more marketable than strength in character, because neither Mulan nor Pocahontas have a pimped up dress. Jasmin doesn't either in the movie, but that didn't stop Disney from making one for her barbie dolls.

  • @SonnyGoten89 And thanks to the Disney sequels, they both have (horrible) fancy dresses.

  • @totalgeek15 THOSE ARE THE BEST PRINCESSES EVER! THEY STOOD UP FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVED! at least back then Disney taught us life lessons (always stand up for what you believe in, never give up..) now Disney is teaching us how to live a double life etc.. come back Disney :( <3

  • @ElectraCity1313 i agree.... disney used to tell us in almost every video good messages and songs and all kinds of good stuff. now a days its teen drama on TV and barely any NEW animated paper-drawn characters on dvds except the princess and the frog...honestly... i love, miss, and still watch the old disney classics :) i dont even WATCH tv anymore!....i only watch the VHSs and DVDs now.

  • @totalgeek15 Mulan & Pocahontas aren't princesses....

  • @Alice4568 Pocahontas was a princess! She was the daughter of the chief, the Native American equivalent for a King. But of course Mulan wasn't.

  • @EhnaRivekan Natives don't have princesses nor do they have a monarchy. Just like you wouldn't call the president's daughter a princess you wouldn't call Pocahontas a princess either, its not her title.

  • @Alice4568 It is a monarchy. That's what a Chief is. It is not a Democracy (where a president leads) because the Chief was not elected but born, the same way that the King is. So it is a monarchy (not democracy) and therefore she is a Princess. Perhaps it's hard for you to understand that a chief is a king but being a native Hawai'ian myself, I know Hawai'i was a monarchy before US took us over. Lead by Ali'i (Chief/King) and had princesses and princes. Look up monarchy and democracy.

  • @EhnaRivekan Native Americans and Canadians had chiefdoms, NOT monarchies a monarchy is a government that calles itself a monarchy as the natives had tribes they and never considered themselves a monarchy they're not. Also that some kings were elected, like in Denmark they voted on who would be king (not everyone, a select few voted but still they did vote)

  • @Alice4568 They didn't call it Monarchy because it is an English word. They had native words for the same thing (a leader that is born royal.) Denmark is a rare case. All over the world, Hawai'i and Native America included the world was ruled by Kings/Chiefs and Ali'i's. A President which is a democracy is a mostly Western concept. Each tribe considered itself a different nation therefore ruled by a chief/king. Chiefdom is another word for Kingdom. Continued.

  • @Alice4568 They're are basically 2 main forms of government, Democracies and Monarchies lead by royalty called chief or king. Just because they didn't have the English word 'Monarchy' doesn't make it any less a Monarchy. They ruled a smaller proximity then the King of England but didn't consider themselves less. They were proud nations ruled by proud royalty (not voted people.)

  • @EhnaRivekan Native tribes weren't countries or nations, they were just that, tribes. Furthermore not all natives were apart of cheifdoms some traveled around with just their families and didn't bother with the class structure at all. Not only that there's more than 2 forms of government, you're forgetting Dictatorships.

  • @Alice4568 I didn't say that they were the only forms just 2 main forms. And yes tribes were and still are nations. Look it up. Even now the Cherokee, Sioux and other tribes are nations within the nation of America. They have a separate 'government' within our government. Each tribe is a different proud people. And yes, not all tribes had 'chiefdoms' but many did, including Pocohantas' tribe.Bet you didn't know that in England she was often introduced as a Princess of the New World.Cont.

  • @Alice4568 Also you can look up Princess Kai'ulani of Hawai'i, my people's princess. She was a descendent of the royal family and a dignitary that visited Washington and other places to appeal for the rights of the Native Hawai'ian people. It was in her time that America took a firm grip on Hawai'i and forced the royal family to surrender to them. We, like other native tribes, were proud nations until conquered by white men. Just one example of native royalty. Also you forgot Ochlocracy.

  • @Alice4568 You might want to check out the trailer for the movie of the Hawai'ian princess called, 'Princess Kai'ulani'.

  • @EhnaRivekan Yeah, cause Hollywood's accurate. To each their own, think Natives have monarchies all you want. I just don't see it and never will consider Native tribes to be monarchies.

  • @Alice4568 Actually, the movie itself wasn't very accurate but the true story is pretty cool. Perhaps you don't see it that way because you are white, but even European and American people considered Pocahontas and Kai'ulani Princesses. Ever heard of King Kamehameha? A Hawai'ian chief that has hotels named after him. But if you are too close minded to tell that a person born into royalty and a position of national power no matter the area of origin is a King then good for you :) Cont.

  • @Alice4568 But a good portion of the world knows better than that. Including the many that have hailed Kamehameha, Pocahontas and others royalty. Monarchy is described in the dictionary to be 'supreme power or sovereignty held by a single person'. So obviously chiefs fit into that category. But you've apparently run out of argument and are basing your answers off of opinion or ignorance (e.g. not knowing the Cherokees are a nation) then I suppose this conversation is done. Good day :)

  • @EhnaRivekan Wow way to condescend. Honestly get off of your high horse honey, cause I have better things to do than argue with strangers on the internet. And btw most Native (Indian) Chiefs were voted & selected by their peers for having leadership skills or other attributes to make them fit for the role. And please don't bring race into this because I am part Native and really the colour of my skin has nothing to do with this argument.

  • @Alice4568 It's not a high horse if I state facts. And yes, some were but others (and there was a good amount of those) were born royal. Because monarchy by definition is where one reigns supreme and sovereign then his people (by definition) were part of a monarchy and she a princess. That's a plain fact but if you don't want to have a different opinion that's fine :D. To each his own. And if you don't want to answer back then ignore me, simple :). Good bye.

  • Comment removed

  • @EhnaRivekan I'm gonna have to agree with Alice on this one, forget the definition of monarchy/sovereign/etc the Native tribes had meetings and made decisions as a whole, as opposed to true monarchies where the head of state would just decide (unless constitutional). Furthermore in Native tribes all of the members were seen as equal and necessary there were some who were respected more than others such as elders and the chief but they didn't have a superiority complex . cont'd

  • @MsMosiac You do have a point, but you must remember that all the tribes and nations had different systems and in some cases the chiefs were the main ruler. And even in times that the Chief consulted elders it's a similar concept to when a king consults it's council. That doesn't mean he isn't the main leader.Different then a democracy where the government is directly split between a congress/parliament and a president/prime minister. And even so Powhatan's people fit the definition cont.

  • @MsMosiac Cont. of monarchy. So even though many tribes operated in different forms then European cultures, because Powhatan's people fit the definition of monarchy, then he is therefore a monarch. And she the literal definition of princess. Even in her day many Europeans considered her a princess of the New World.

  • @EhnaRivekan You do know England has a parliament, and has had one for a while. That doesn't suddenly make it a democracy the same way that one person holding more power in a tribe doesn't make it a monarchy either. Also for a long time everyone considered Laura Secord's role in the Battle of Beaver Dams as unimportant when in fact if it wasn't for her the British wouldn't have been prepared and wouldn't have won. Ppl can consider things all they want, but it doesn't make it true.

  • @MsMosiac England is part of the UK which is a parliamentary democracy with a monarch as head of state, so yes it is a democracy.Traditionally a monarchy but the Magna Carta helped set up a more democratic system. I'll copy and paste the definition of monarchy from a dictionary "A state or nation in which the supreme power is actually or nominally lodged in a monarch". There are 3 main forms of government: ochlocracy, democracy and monarchy. The tribe had no 'parliament' continued.

  • @MsMosiac Look up the 3 forms if you'd like. But because the tribe had a head of state, it couldn't be a ochlocracy (ruled entirely by the masses), and because it had elders that advised the chief but no parliament/congress it couldn't be a democracy. Since Powhatan was the main head of state he was a monarch and Pocahontas a princess :). Pretty simple.

  • @EhnaRivekan England has a constitutional monarchy first of all, and they've had that for a while so that's not exactly news. Not only that native tribes had council of elders who did hold authority in the tribe therefore there wasn't a sole ruler. In the historical sense a monarchy was rule by divine right, which doesn't apply to natives tribes.

  • @MsMosiac England is a monarchy AND democracy (parliamentary democracy to be specific. Look it up.) And monarchy was not always by divine right but sometimes voted for like in the case of Denmark. You can look that up too. And quite often the chiefs were in fact born royal. Also they had advisers but ALL kings do :). But the main ruler was almost always the chief which means it's a monarchy. But really we could do this forever, to save us that, why don't we call a truce? Cont.

  • @MsMosiac I know what I'm talking about, and have based all of what I've said off of facts not opinions (e.g. the parliamentary democracy that the UK has.) Therefore, I can't really retract what I've said and you are entitled to your opinion. In that light I think we should just go our ways, letting it be. And everyone else can agree with whom they wish. Merry Christmas and happy Hanukkah BTW :).

  • @EhnaRivekan England has and has had a constitutional monarchy for a very long time and it is called a constitutional monarchy, a constitutional monarchy is basically the monarch acts as the head of state within the agreement of said constitution meaning in modern day England the Queen's only used for ceremonial purposes. Also I'm aware of Denmark I was saying in most countries it was rule by divine right & either way you had to be born to a certain class to be a nominee contd

  • @EhnaRivekan again you had to be a certain class to vote for who would be the king Denmark. And even when Rome was a republic the two consuls made the main decisions (each having the power to vito) and that was never considered a monarchy. Just because the chief's the main leader doesn't make it a monarchy. Btw Happy Holidays is the politically correct term, as there's more than 2 holidays being celebrated at this time of year. So, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year

  • @MsMosiac I never said that ALL people voted for the king of Denmark lol. Also being the main leader, that is the one who has the most power is another word for king. Rome was not a monarchy because two consuls instead of one. There are basically 3 forms of government. Yes Happy Holidays is a politically correct term but I mentioned Christmas and Hanukkah because they are the most widely celebrated so Happy Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years or whatever you wish to celebrate :) cont.

  • @MsMosiac Yes England is a constitutional monarchy AND a parliamentary democracy because of the prime minister and parliament. Look it up and you'll see. And like I said before, I will unfortunately for you not change my 'opinion' because I'm basing it off of facts of Powhatan's people. And if you are entitled to your opinion so why don't we call it a draw :)? You believe what you like and everyone else make their own decision.

  • @EhnaRivekan As for the Rome argument even when Julius Caesar was named consul for life (and was the only consul) it still wasn't considered a monarchy. And in Ancient Sparta there were 2 kings and it was still considered a monarchy. Btw jut because the chief's the main person in charge doesn't make it a monarchy when Hitler ran Germany it sure as hell wasn't a monarchy. And if you wanna call it a draw just stop arguing because its kinda counter productive, don't ya think?

  • @MsMosiac Hitler was a dictator, LOL :D. And in similar view, Julius Caesar was similar enough to a dictator, and yes, there can be 2 kings that reign supreme. But hey, like I said, you keep your opinion. I like I said can't change mine :). See ya.

  • @EhnaRivekan I'm aware Hitler was a dictator, your point was the the chief was mainly in charge making it a monarchy, well there are lots of governments where one person's mainly in charge and they're not a monarchy. Case in point Hitler as a dictator. Anyway since you keep saying see ya or some form of goodbye I assume I won't be hearing from you again (unless you didn't actually mean it) so unless you reply to me peace out.

  • @MsMosiac I have the answer to that but it's not worth replying to considering it'll just cause more arguments. Glad you agreed to call a truce :). Peace.

  • @EhnaRivekan I don't recall agreeing to said truce I just pointed out that you seem to want this conversation to end. You ought to not assume things, but if that's your cup of tea then go right ahead, we live in a world of free will and everyone can do what they want. Adios.

  • @MsMosiac That's right :). But peace out, and adios means goodbye of course therefore good bye :D.

  • @EhnaRivekan No shit adios means goodbye, did you really need to point that one out? Like, really? It's obvious that I KNOW what adios means as I used it in my comment. Seriously...just wow...are you that obessed with getting in the last word you feel the need to point out the obvious?

  • @MsMosiac As in I know it's not a truce but a goodbye/adios is as close as we're going to come to a truce. Peace out.

  • @EhnaRivekan Sure, why not. Byes.

  • Pocahontas is said to be appearing in Kingdom Hearts 3D. Can't wait till the game comes out.

  • hega hega hega!

  • There's something so entirely beautiful, about this song... And yet, you feel good after you listen to it!

It truly lifts your spirit. <3

  • how is the song called pocahontas and smith meet first at the waterfall?

  • RIP Disney.

Im glad I grew up to those good disney movies. Thank you :)

  • I'm 15 but I still love Disney Movies.

The old ones, like Lion King, Pocahontas and the other ones.

The new ones aren't as good as the old ones.

  • @Ipodmoeilijk im almost 17 and i still watch disney movies whenever i can XD

the new ones just can't beat the old ones

  • @Ipodmoeilijk I think the new ones are a little... lack luster, Idk. I really believe that they need their amazing composers back, I mean for the Princess and the Frog they had *shudder* Left Foot Right Foot Randy Newman composing the songs.

  • @Ipodmoeilijk Lol, I'm twenty & I still love them ^^ Have you seen the Road to El dorado? Love it! (technically its dreamworks tho)

  • @lemonice2700

I love Road to El Dorado. Still I think that the Lion King 1 the best is. And the new ones, like Miley Cyrus move thing, hate it. There is just no message, the old disney films do got a message.

  • @Ipodmoeilijk Yeah, you are SO right! It's kind of pathetic. I <3 Lion King too. My favorite song in it is Scar's Be Prepared XD

  • @lemonice2700

Mine too! But I prefer the Finnish version, it just sounds better. Although, I can understand very little. Lion king 2, mhah good but number one was better. I don't like number three.

Dreamwork also did Spirit, the stallion of the cimmaron. It's a movie that I don't know what to think about.

I love horses and the movie isn't boring but Spirit is acting very weird. A horse that just falls through a wooden fence without being hurt? And jumps that long distance?

  • @Ipodmoeilijk All of the disney films from 89 to 2000 are known as the disney renisance.

  • My favorite from Pocahontas. :)

  • AMAZING <3

  • Pocahontas was the most beautiful and powerful disney princess in my opinion.

  • @LookItsColette Not in kingdom hearts she wasn't, but yea i agree with you. :)

  • @LookItsColette I agree.

  • @LookItsColette Mulan was fairly powerful too, if by powerful you mean influential and feminist...

  • @firedjinndragon She was but in my opinion Pocahontas was the most powerful.

  • @LookItsColette I think that Mulan was also quite the woman, though I do agree with you.

  • @sniffybibble029 Mulan to me was the most powerful WOMAN to me, as she was not a princess...XD

  • @LookItsColette Not in that picture.

  • @LookItsColette totally agreeeeeeee

  • @LookItsColette

Pocahontas was not a princess since Native North American did not have European/Asian style kingdoms athough Native South American like the Inca and Mayans did.

  • @SPS148669 in a native sense, yes she was a princess. .a woman considered to have the qualities or characteristics of a princess. But you are correct, North American Indians did not have a reigning kingdom which overseen them. Their system of governance consisted solely of the clan first which provided duties for the tribe & was overseen by a council of tribal elders. Honor is more important to natives than freedom. Why would they subjectate their fellow man?

  • love this song <3

  • it scared me when i was a kid

  • They shoudl have kept the conch shell sound at 0:17!!! That is my only complaint about the whole soundtrack for this. :D

  • @siljalin well, tru but i thought the movie was sweet...

  • Thumbs up if you love this movie and music and Lion King!

  • @99thJediWarrior i like peter pan too!

  • amaizing song i love it!!!!! :3

  • ah, brings back childhood memories

  • I love this opening soo much!

  • i can't get this song outta my head now!!!!

  • aw always watched this as alittle kid i remember my sis loved :) the thing i remember the most is that little green bird ^^

  • I learned alot from this song

  • Alan Menken is a GENIUS! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • God I love this song.

  • @SilentNight700 yet another correction, Pocahontas married John Rolfe

  • I love the music, sound, and chorus, it's all beautiful. =D

  • this song is sooooo cool. and yes, its underrated cuz its not showy

  • @jname96 i like the ayyyaahh ayyha yaahyah parts

  • @ydrjtt me to

  • @angel4arch sick man

  • sick song
