  • The Doctor used to be one abusive grandfather back in the day!

  • The dematerialization sequence seems to have gotten more complex, but travel time seems to have decreased. Ah, the economics of space/ time travel.

  • the sfx are adorable:)

  • That was the longest Tardis ride ever!

  • Surely this wasn't it's FIRST journey?? How many trips did it take to get from Gallifrey to 1963 Earth??

  • @sarkybstard lool

  • who the F*** is that one dislike....

  • @TheDoctorCoD94 The Master?

  • Fun Whovian Fact: The iconic Tardis sound effect is the sound of an ordinary key scraping along a length of piano wire.

  • oh my god I love this, my dad had all of these on tape so I watched them when I was about 6 great stuff

  • @buyseebeee : That is a good age to start watching the Doctor!

  • its sad that i dont think i can watch the originals

  • Doctor's Hat Evolution: goes from Astrakhan cap to a fez. He like's his middle eastern headware.

  • John F Kennedy, was assassinated at 12:30 p.m. 18:30 current UK local time on Friday, November 22, 1963. 23 hours later at 5.16pm on the 23rd November 1963 the BBC premiered An Unearthly Child to the world of Doctor Who for the first time. At 8 years of age, sitting in front of our small cabinet Black and White TV watching the the first episode of Doctor Who, followed by the news review of the pervious day's events and forever had two images etched into my mind. martinftierney

  • @martinftierney : I was five in 1963 and I will always remember Doctor Who. I don't recollect anything about JFK until reading about him at school some years later.

  • Never forget the Doctor!

    The Genius Doctor!

  • Yeah@!!!!

    Have you seen this man?

Have you seen this strange blue box?

  • "I'll open the doors"

Rule Number One: The Doctor Lies!

  • fedoras are cool.

  • Love the old skool TARDIS console. I don't like the new Time Rotor.

  • @BBCClassicDoctorWho can you put the 2 shows of Recovery and Blackpool with David Tennant on the BBC channel so I can both record them on my TV. That'll be nice if you can do that. It will make everybody happy.

  • And so the worlds greatest television show began.

  • Doctors 1-10 are all Brilliant! But 11 is just a disgrace...... (my opinion)

  • @EdHardy2552 I say I half agree with you (on the 1-10 part) and I respect your opinion about 11. I too used to think that but I've grown to like him. "The Doctor Wife" was what REALLY made me a100% fan of him. Though David Tennant will always be my Doctor since he was when I first started watching the show. :)

  • @EdHardy2552 How so?

  • @bartat404 He came after Tennant (who was unexplainable) & he dnt step up to the plate as an actor. So the show is kind getting worse.

Russel T Davies brought the show back but he left when Tennant left, then the show turned into more adult than a family show.

Don't get me wrong I love Who but the show is slowly going down, I hope the next regeneration is going to be better than Smith.

  • @EdHardy2552 I totally disagree...the show just gets better all the time!

  • @EdHardy2552 Personally I don't think it's because of Matt Smith but more because of Steven Moffat and the other writers. It seems as if they've all got a competition going on who can make the most confusing messed up story so that only die hard Doctor Who fans will be able to follow. I really hope they get their act together for the next series and remember that it is essentially a family show and that should be simpler.

  • @joevictor53 Thats very true indeed.

  • @EdHardy2552 Your opinion is a minority one.

  • The best part was when the guy fell over :P

  • So the first companions were not invited but kidnapped to keep them quiet?? I like that.

  • i loke how the doctor gradually gets younger each time he regenerates... :)

  • @headruch14 -- Actually the 3rd was older then the 1st if I remember correctly, and there was a considerable age difference between 5 and 6/7.

  • Those are pretty cool vis effects for back then. And I'm glad the sound hasn't changed at all!!! Well done BBC Radiophonic Workshop!

  • @BrianMcD86 -- The first doctor was quite dry, I agree. But the 3rd/4th onwards were very good.

  • @Shaestel

and 2nd wasnt the best? are u mad? ;)

  • 1:15 intense.

  • wait, if this is the first take-off, shouldn't it be on Gallifrey?

  • @ace200201 first departure of the show, I always assume the plot holes in this show are filled with events or "episodes" we don't see.

  • @ace200201 It means first take-off of the series, i.e. first onscreen take-off.

  • Is that a Fez? Fezzes are cool. It would be nice for the last regeneration of the Doctor to find his old control room (this one) in the Tardis.....like in the episode "The Doctor's Wife" where he finds 9th's/10th's one. It would be like a reunion. :)

  • @erestor629

Have you ever seen a fez? No, that's clearly not a fez...

  • @Cellblock1138 please note that in my comment I asked a question. "Is that a fez?" I was asking if it was or wasn't.....not If I have or haven't seen a fez, and yes. I have seen one. It kinda looks like one that's all....I'm not a doctor who freak, I only wanted to ask that as I thought that Matt Smith was referring to the 1st Doctor's hat....... :/ but thanks anyways for saying it's not.

  • @erestor629 The hat the 1st Doctor wore is called an Astrakhan.

  • @1bmh1 Ah, ok. Thank you. :) I think that the new Doctor e.g. Matt Smith should bring back some of the older stuff with his role, like that hat! XD

  • @erestor629 Glad you liked my comment, I agree, there shoud be more connections to the history of the show. I've noticed they've actually showed William Hartnell's image a few times. For an out of the blue idea, I think now would be a good time to do a "multiple Doctors" type story featuring... Paul McGann - the 8th Doctor, I aways felt he got short-changed!

  • @1bmh1 I believe that they might be doing something like the 5 Doctors/3 Doctors again for the 50th anniversary in 2013. I'm not to sure through. But yeah, it would be nice to see some older stuff, maybe a few more flashbacks aswell? Well Paul McGann only did it for the movie I believe, no idea if he'll come back. Would be nice to see in the 50th all the different Tardis control rooms - throughout the episode they can move between them etc.

  • @erestor629 Matt Smith is refering to the episode in the Big Bang, where he appears wearing a fez saying Fezes are cool, (in the same way he says bowties are cool) and Amy and River dispose of it. I don't think it there was a previous appearance.

  • @eissacm I know when and wear is appeared thanks.....I do watch Doctor Who ya know! But thanks for saying that you dont believe there is a previous appearance, I just thought this might of been another one of those little cameo shots etc. :P I like Fezzes, there cool. Thanks.

  • @erestor629

No. A fez is the type of hat that comedian Tommy Cooper always wore in his act.

  • @m06een00 Did you even read my comment?...read it again....and Yeah, I know what a Fez is thanks and I know who the comedian is aswell... -_-' All I said it that it looks like one from my view! geez.. :/

  • Oh i love this. <3

  • The doctor is ruthless in this!

  • well it was the first time the TARDIS dematerialized, so it had to be dramatic--fifty years later, it's no big thing.

  • I love WH serials, but can you image if we went through this take off every episode haha.

  • Daaaanngg, Sexy sure takes her sweet time getting somewhere!

  • Still fantastic after all these years. I was 6, and my friend really did hide behind the settee. I've watched every episode since. Can't wait for the next series to begin.

  • Still fantastic after all these years. I was 6, and my friend really did hide behind the settee

  • Still fantastic afer all these years.

  • It's funny how now the Doctor hardly gives a crap about who knows about his time machine.

  • Ian looks like Simon Pegg in that shot...

  • What year was this?

  • @mmmPIZZA100 no, 1963

  • The sound hasn't changed at all. That makes me happy. :-)

  • @madamepres12 Cause the parking brake is still on lol

  • @madamepres12 Even back then, he always forgets to take off the emergency brake...
