  • at 0:40 if u notice the idiot lights are on and the gauges are working.. it will start at this time...it's when the gauges won't work and the idiot lights don't come on only the theft light stays on or blinks

  • if ur idiot lights come on the car should start .. if they don't and only the theft light comes on then u need to do this emergency start routine which stops working after doing this a number of times.... if the theft light comes on put the key in ON sometimes for only a few seconds until the light goes out then take the key out and put it back in turn the key to ON again the idiot lights should light up and the car will start..do not replace the fuel pump that's not the problem

  • this will stop working and if u don't want to do this every time u have to start the car ur best bet is to have a remote starter system installed with a passlock II bypass module otherwise it will keep on failing to start.. GM knows the system is defective but only recalled their expensive makes like cadillac, yukon etc to fix it

  • Thanks for the help left the key for 15 min it work

  • pfff The real solution is... Turn the key to the "On" position, or not, forever your need 15 minutes...

  • You sir, (SparkyMan777) have made my day... My year, my decade. This worked. Thank you so much. I was stranded in a grocery store parking lot on a Sunday night, so low on funds that I couldn't afford to spend what little I had on a tow, let alone, repairs. I waited 10 minutes. The 'Theft' light promptly stopped blinking & then it went solid. I turned it off, then it fired right up on my next attempt. I found your video using Google... "engine turns no start malibu". God Bless you!

  • Common problem with the GM's pass lock but it can be bypassed. So it want leave you stranded in a dark parking lot waiting ten min.

  • Sparkyman777, thank you. I found this in 2 minutes of googling and it solved my problem! The only difference was my Anti-Theft light was flashing... and right at 10 minutes it stopped flashing for 5 seconds then turned off. Turning off the key and back on after 5 seconds worked like a charm! Thanks!

Fernado406 --- YES. Mine did that too. I oftten wondered what good the antitheft system was because the light was on while I was driving down the road.

  • my anti theft light in on but car starts. Do you think that my prevent it from starting later.

  • @fernandoj406 Yes, it will always have this problem, and as the milage and age goes up it will do it more and more often for longer and longer

  • Incredible my friend, but my 2004 Chevy Maliby 4 cil. Has started now. God bless you. I followed your instructions ON for 10 min, wait around 2 min and they voila Turn on without problems.

I turn off and try again and now is normal... Thanks again

  • i have the same problem and i waited for 10 minutes but the "theft system" indicator is still showing, i waited for even more and it is still there

any idea how to fix my problem?

  • You have to disable the passlock, there's a wire behind the ignition that you have to wire a toggle switch in. Once you start the car you put the switch in the off position and your theft system light will be on. I did this to my malibu and it starts every time now. I have a link with step by step on how to do this, if you want it I can PM it to you.

  • For NORTHWESTMEX.... CAN U PLS DIRECT ME TO THAT VIDEO? THNX

  • Don't take it to the machanic! You need to get into the ignition! There is a video that explains it all! EASY to do, if you need help get at me. I'm always on youtube through my phone :) i'll be glad to help....

  • yea my mom car does it and you do have to wait 10-15 mins until it goes off

  • If the car will not turn over and seems dead.... 1. Turn the car to the off position, then turn back to the "on" position and leave it there. 2. Wait 10 minutes, turn key back off and start the car.... This is a computer glitch in the safety interlock system and will cost you about $400 to repair. My 04 Monte Carlo does the same thing occasionally and I go through the steps, let it sit and it will re-set itself and will eventually start.

  • guess wat i found out cuz i have da same problem if u take everything off ur car key it should not come on 4 a while or not at all but in da mean time either get a new key or ignition switch 4 da car datz wat im planing 2 do

  • guess what sparky? it worked for us too....thanks man
