Nice swing. Can I suggest a narrower stance with slight increase in the lead foot angle towards the target. Otherwise, solid swing, solid contacts. Congratulation on understanding how to generate power and consistency!
To Bunkerputt: What you refer to as a lateral slide is actually part of the great Mike Austin technique. She is swinging (pivoting) around her right leg, & then transferring her weight to her left side, where she is then pivoting, or swinging around her left leg "maypole," as Mike Austin described it. She is actually doing everything correctly in regards to Austin's incredible method. It's a wonder these pros on tour don't adopt this near flawless technique.
The song is titled "Pompeii" by E.S. Posthumus. They do cinematic style music. The NFL on CBS uses some of their music (Unstoppable) and they wrote the theme to the TV show "Cold Case". Unique and diverse music!
Great job on all your hard work, rgolfnut. It looks like you have a slight lateral slide away from the target with your hips which causes a slight, lower body reverse pivot. I'd bet you gain a few more MPH and better launch conditions if you had a firmer left side. I've got this tendency too and do hip adductor and flexor work to build strength. It creates a more automatic and powerful weight transfer during the transition. Check out Hogan's swing for a great example. Good swinging!
Very impressive, especially having learned only from the DVDs and without a personal instructor. I also do not prefer Shauger's release and wonder how he gets away with calling it the "Mike Austin Method." Anyway, well done, your swing looks great and very Austin-like!
Thanks for the honest comment. It's not a bathing suit though. NIke work out shorts. It was about 95 degrees and 100% humidity as I worked out in my garage, so I did have on a halter type top verus a full shirt when I took the picture. The purpose was to show how my core and abs have developed through my rigid exercise program. I've lost 40 lbs and really do have well-defined muscles that I never thought a woman my age could ever have. I tried to be tasteful. Guess some might not like it.
For me...you've should've left it to the imagination...regardless...you have a great swing...I too have the Mike Austin books and DVDs and even had a lesson with Jaacob Bowden...nice guy...you're like a female version of him!
Thanks for the comments. I did the video myself using Microsoft MovieMaker. I just started using it when I decided to put my swing to music and it just evolved into this. I'd not tried doing a video before so these were my first attempts.
awesome job! I love the music. I am a female golfer too. My clubhead speed is 91 mph. I'm dying to be able to swing like you. What did you do? Do you play professionally? With your length I bet you would kill the LPGA tour ladies.
Nice to hear from a fellow female golfer! I learned my swing from books & DVD's about the Mike Austin swing method. I practiced and worked out physically for many hours a day and still do. I don't play professionally, but had I started golf years ago when I was younger perhaps I would have. Who knows? Need to refine my short game a bit. Set some goals for yourself and stay focused on them. It takes a lot of discipline, but you can achieve whatever you want through hard work and desire.
Ha. That's cool. Where did you learn your version of the MA swing? Just curious. Do you roll the arms or keep the face square throughout, ie counter-rotation?
Thanks for the comment. I learned from the Mike Dunaway DVD, Secrets from the Game's Longest Hitter, plus I bought the material that Dan Shauger wrote. I tried the Shauger version, but found it to be too extreme. I do counter rotate somewhat, but I release the club the Old School Austin way, not the "flippy" way that Shauger teaches. I find that keeping the face square throughout the is best for me. Less to have to adjust and correct on the way down. Simpler is always better in my opinion.
Nice. Who is your instructor?

I'm impressed. Very nice and efficient swing, no wated energy, at all!! Being in good shape, supple and strong will help for sure
I am just discovering the MA methods, and the pivot does have lots of similarities with Hogan's and Snead which I'm currently studying.
Like I said, impressive swing! Keep up the good work and congrats for reaching your 300 yeard dream drive!
