There's an old novel called Rosy is My Relative by Gerald Durrell that I think you would LOVE. It is a true story about a man who inherits an elephant from his uncle and it is just hilarious. I'm not a huge comedy fan, but this is to this day one of my most favourite books. I really recommend it.
I have just added all of the books you mentioned on my to-read list on Goodreads :) x I have set myslef a goal of 25 books for 2012 so hopefuly I will make it :)
Great selection of books! I love dystopian fiction (who doesn't these days?) and I am always looking for new books or series to get into. I am a high school English teacher so I try and keep up to date on YA books to recommend to students. It is a popular genre, and kids seem to really love it. Thanks for making this video; I have put most of these on hold at the library, and I cannot wait to read them!
Great fresh topic and something different then makeup vids for a change but i love them 2 im a booknerd and i also write a lot myself Btw do not watch the vide the elephant bc that elephant has been abused and neglected behind the scenes(undercooverfootage)since im an animalactivist boycott that film,,btw i wonder if u coult talk about nonanimaltestedproducts i think thats an extremely important issue both Urban Decay and Body Shop are none cruel free and superproducts all the best
I highly suggest Kate Morton! The Forgotten Garden is her most famous one, but I just read The Distant Hours and I loved it. Her writing is amazing-a little mystery and the ending is fantastic.
I agree with a previous comment, you should check out The Giver by Lois Lowry if you haven't read it yet! It's a trilogy as well, very very well written!
You should read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green! Its a "young adult novel" but it is so beautiful, so much more than a genre label. The main character is a teenager with cancer, but unlike many other cancer books, the cancer is not her main characteristic. PLEASE READ IT! It is so beautiful and funny and sad and just read it!
I really liked Divergent, I know a lot of people who aren't going to read it though because they are convinced that it is so typically dystopian as to be the same as every other dystopian type book. Personally I dislike that attitude because I have read very few dystopians that are at all similar. Anyways I really liked it and we seem to share a similar taste in books, so I would strongly urge you to look at Maria V.Snyder's books, she has nine, two trilogies, a two book series and one new one.
I've actually started exploring the fantasy genre, with the Game of Thrones series by George RR Martin. liked the show on HBO and thought the books might interesting to try and I really like them. Not a particular genre I thought I would enjoy, but I am!
Some those books you mentioned seem interesting, going to check them out. You might like "Highborn" The Dark Redemption Series by Yvonne Navarro. Urban fantasy About fallen angel/demon who escapes from hell and is trying to receive redemption from God. Kind of confusing at the beginning and doesn't really explain what she had done to fall from Grace. Other then a few minor things pretty good.
Julia, have you read any more of the Outlander series?.......I remembered you mentioned you didn't liked or enjoyed the first book?....just curious (btw I love this look on you, specially the lip color) I'm nc25 are you the same shade? Thanks
i fall asleep when reading.... lol wish i could stay wake. I try to get my readings in is by listening to audio books when i work on my art :D kill two birds with one stone.
Have you ever read The Naming by Alison Groggon. It's the first of the four book series. It seems like you live a lot of adventure books and this series was the first thing I thought of when it comes to adventure. ^_^
Have you read Under The Dome by Stephen King? It has to be my favorite book of all times, great story, amazingly well written and an unexpected moral!
Hey julia ! "Water For Elephants" was also made into a movie last year and was really amazing ! You should really check it out if you haven't already! :)
Great video! I just got Maze Runner and I'm excited to read it because I've heard so many good things about it! Unfortunately I disliked Graceling =[ The world building was nice, but I did not like Katsa and the other characters...
I added you on goodreads :) I loved The Help and how well it was translated into a movie! Most books I love are butchered by hollywood's "magic" hands. This however, satisfied me very much!
Oh wow!! A lithuanian author! I am so surprised and happy to hear you liked the book by Ruta Sepetys!! Awesome! :) I'm a lithuanian subscriber, long time fan of your youtube career ;)
You inspired me to get reading! I'm always hesitant to start reading something, I'm afraid I'll waste my time. I'm about to get up and go to the book store and pick up Graceling, Hounded and Enclave. Thank you so much for your reviews!!!
My all time favorite fiction book set in slavery time period- Kindred by Octavia Butler. Also the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris are my favorite supernatural romancey types but the last few in the series get kind of lame. Definitely read the first three though!
Wow 60 books!!!!!!! Then can you pretty please do a video on how to read faster or how to fit in reading in a daily life. I love to read but I always take forever to read a book
Thanks for sharing! I have a personal reading challenge too: at least 1 book a week. I will do a short "review" on my blog and maybe you want to check out for inspiration: strangenessofheart.blogspot.com . I totally recommend Mitch Albom & Alan Bradley - my top picks of 2011! Btw: You look stunning today! May I ask what you have on your lips? xoxo
I know that you're more into other types of books, but have you come across any good YA paranormal romances? Could you share them with us? I think I've cleaned my public library out of their collection, so I'm always on the hunt for some other good ones!
60 books!? I wish I was that passionate about reading...Maybe someday when I am not as busy I suppose...You didn't mention "The Hungers Games?" What it so so in the end for you??
yay! I love these videos! Thanks for all the book suggestions!! I'm always looking for something new to read! and also your makeup is flawless as usual :)
Love your kind of books almost read all of your top 11...was wondering if you read anything from Charlain harris? sookie stackhouse series it was reccomended to me but im so sure about them
Great video! I love that you read so much. My faves of 2011 were: Divergent by Veronica Roth The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford The Percy Jackson and the Olympians AND The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross Across the Universe by Beth Revis Nevermore by Kelly Creagh Hope to read book 2 and 3 of the Maze Runner this year :)
I adore those earrings you have on! So beautiful and unique :)
