man, the first secs of video made me be happiest man in the world! Where can I get these amazing (!) demos (breakable mutator, destr. bridge and so on)?
@62cky4powerthirst, if your map is using additive geometry, you probably don't need skyboxes. There are special colossal spheres with textures instead (can't tell now the package name, sorry)
Who ever said anything about graphics? If you want to talk about physics, then all I have to say is that it still isn't that great compared to other engines.
@VZGproductions you still have no idea about engines i think, cause there are only three good phycics engines out there wich are Nvidia PhysX, Intel Havok and crytek's one, and physx is way better. And, just a reminder before you come out with something stupid, the game engine and the phycics engine are two separated things.
hi i`m using unreal development kit and i have a problem ,every time i place an object it dosen`t respond to anything even if a shoot and when i place cars i can`t drive them.please answer i really admire your work and i know you can help, thanks for reading
I've never worked with this engine but i've worked with older engines from different games.. have you set any flags for these objects? if not then the game won't know what to do with them, you need to look into that.
I, actually, didn't have a chance to try out UDK (I don't have any windows machine now), but I think drumboarder is right. More likely you are adding them as plain meshes. Simple phys. objects should be rigid bodies and vehicles should be spawned too. You can google UT3 tutorials (same engine, same editor) for rigid bodies or vehicles (or take a look at demo maps)
Well, I'm making a Gears of War Montage, and I wanted it to be something amazing by using Unreal Editor.
& I'm wondering if you knew how to do that.
The thing I'm looking for, you can insert things already made. Like, on a Gears of War map, you could mod it to make more pillars, or to make things bigger. Or anything pretty much.
& I'm trying to get that.
Sorry if none of this makes sense, it's almost 6 AM.
Depends on what do you mean under "unreal engine 3" :)
This video is recorded from Unreal Tournament 3, game based on UE3. UT3 includes most of tools to work with UE3 content (level editor, model editor, etc.) and those tools are enough to create even your own game, which will only requier UT3 to run.
Recently Epic Games released all those tools free for non-commercial use, you can download them from udk com
uhmmmmmm then u will gonna need a realy pro pc to handle that shit so thats why the source engine isnt that good. for physx you just need to have a physx card that will render all. thats it
hm.. what about using theme songs directly from UnrealTournament game? i think its fine... or i suggest to add no music... i dont like music especially for tutorials.. i cant focus on it very well then.. hm...
can you make your own games using unreal engine 3 editor? or is unreal engine 3 different to unreal engine 3 editor? I hope you can make your own games and that they're the same thing.
Well, there is no certain sources for this, but you can find a lot of them in google. Good lists are Hourences's tutorials and IceCreamYou tutorial index. As a detailed source of information you can check out wiki at beyondunreal. Also, feel free to experiment when you get the basics working.
As for the PhysX - this is the old official demo from Ageia. You can install this demo in your game and run maps from it, but I've _failed_ to open demo maps in editor - too many dependencies.
There is a mutator example in the modpack. Mutator replaces static meshes with a breakable ones (you need models for broken parts too). Small pieces are created using fluids (like all breakable stuff on PhysX maps for UT3).
This is only "demo" mutator so it contains only doors/statues shown here, but mut can be applied to any map (like DM-ShangriLa).
Someone uploaded a preinstalled version of mod-kit on filefront. Could not get it working properly on 100% in editor, but ingame testing levels work perfect.
Thank very much for this tut.

You can't just "place a car". You probably need to program the item or something.

You don't "render" physics. You calculate them!
FPRobber 2 years ago
same thing xD
darkolon0 2 years ago
i mean a massive amount of physics. not just the small amount of physics like in any source game.
darkolon0 2 years ago
its called source engine but anyway the source engine will have more trouble rendering physics then physx

Awesome ! Could it work on PS3 or 360 or AGEIA Card is needed ?
ZeliOtt 2 years ago
AGEIA Card is _not_ needed, but without proper performance PC users can experience lags (like at 0:23). Consoles probably will handle it better.
Still I'm not sure about PS3 or XBOX360. This is a tech-demo-alike distributed stuff, so at least it will be not easy to install it on consoles.
GarryRat 2 years ago
Ok thanks for your answer !

where did you learn this? I have the editor and make maps myself, but nothing that pushes physics likes this.
